Ran into Dolly Parton outside my doc’s office, in Beverly Hills (not cosmetic doc) - she told me my look was “mysterious” and admired my “alabaster” skin. I'm 64 and Spanish. I have no wrinkles and I've only recently started to use a little castor oil, glycerine and Frankincense oil mixed together on my skin but for years I've used a sunscreen on my face and a little tape between my eyes at night to stop me frowning. I can honestly say loosing a few pounds has made my face look younger. The beginning of jawls and very slight double chin have disappeared and my eyes look bigger.

I'm just a little younger than you, am very pale, and live in Florida. I've had the same habits as you since I was 25 and also have no wrinkles. I also make my own vitamin C serum that I put in under caster oil, and that wards off skin discoloration. Wraparound, "steampunk" or "Crowley" sunglasses (named for a character on an Amazon series) provide FULL eye protection from the sun. I get lots of compliments on them too!

Emergency Department physician here...just a small correction on the Lid Lag test you mentioned. Lid lag also occurs (mainly) in hyperthyroidism. It can be measured by comparing the upper eyelid position in downgaze to its position in primary gaze relative to a fixed point like the pupil. Lid lag happens when there is increased contraction of the levator palpebrae muscles of the eyelids. Lid lag usually subsides when the hyperthyroidism is treated. So yeah, guys, do not confuse simple terminology for serious underlying medical conditions.

These types of methods and thinking is very common (almost obsessive level) in Korea, where I am from. In the US, I am so glad that rigor in skin care is picking up and even becoming normalized, thanks to wonderful teachers and communicators like you Dr. Rajani. In the US, I have had my American friends always tease me whenever i walk outside with a wide brim hat, face mask (before pandemic), gloves, scarf, and sunglasses. They say I make myself look like an "old person" by not being stylish and looking like an "auntie working in the market stalls." Well, I am glad I ignored this b/c I am now in my 40s and often people tell me I look like 20s. I do take Vitamin D supplements b/c of this coverage though.

I could wear a hat, and I often do, but gloves and a face mask? I could never wear gloves a mask out on a beautiful summer day...I’m 51 now and though I stopped getting carded in restaurants and liquor stores in my early 40’s I still get shocked looks when I say my age, (and get asked what my skincare regimen is) because apparently I look like I’m in my mid thirties or so, no need to go overboard either way imo. I don't think we lose fat, but rather that fat descends with sag. If I do the "mirror lift" (lifting your face in the mirror, lol), my fat pads are back in their original place. I lost my baby fat at 16, which is when I acquired my adult face. From 16 to about 48, there was minimal fat loss until sag started. I have genetically thick skin, follow a good skincare regimen and do facial exercises for the muscles. It's all in the fascia for me. Nothing I can do to address the fascia. In fact, the worst damage occurred after using an RF device and undergoing a six-hour dental surgery with my jaw stretched to the max all that time, both in the same year. I have great skin, good muscle tone, and fat presence. Only the fascia can account for my droopiness.

I have serious immune system problems and when it's acting up or out of whack, it 'looks' like I've lost face fat because my face swells in spots it shouldn't and leaves other spots hollow. This is one point that people don't talk about much.. your immune system goes a bit haywire as you age and that is typically what causes excessive swelling and inflammation.

My energy is much higher & my brain fog is clearing up! I'm ecstatic and feel like I'm getting my life back! There are many podcasts about it on YT. Doctors & Scientists who run tests on nutrition, inflammation and brain function. As well as people like Mikaela (sp) Peterson, who had very severe immune disfunction & has healed herself by eating strictly Carnivore! It's definitely worth a try... Just start eliminating processed & refined foods, especially carbs, you won't miss them. Eat good quality, organic, grass fed meats , butter, eggs & milk (if you tolerate it) & wild caught fish 🐟, avocados 🥑 & olive oil. Our brains need healthy fats to function! Sugar is the Bad Guy, not fat. That was a marketing agenda for profits by the Sugar and Cereal industries. Which is why we have an epidemic of Diabetes now.😢 They need to stop lying to us! But we're very lucky to have learned people doing podcasts and interviews to get the truth out about our diets, health & nutrition! Give it a go, you'll be glad you did! Best of Health to you! 😊🤗🥰

How about saunas? 20 minutes of sauna use every day can be the equivalent to moderate cardio. Will it kill the fat pads?
@mckitty4907 Жыл бұрын
I love cardio, I like to jog inside on the treadmill, for 30 minutes at a time, do I need to stop this completely? how much is okay?

10 minutes is enough

I used to run 5 days a week (about 10k) and reduced to 2-3 times a week and only 4-5 mi. I now incorporate more weight training. I also gained some weight, as much as I’d prefer not to, but my face bounced back some.

Is tretinoin every night a bad idea even with no flaking, tightness?

Question, is it better to use your own fat for face rejuvenation?, hope so 😊

So does doing Sauna also melt fat pads in your face?

I don't know. Newa is an RF device made by Endymed, a reputable company that provides professional RF equipment to Doctors. Who buys home devices from fly-by-night companies?

Im 34, im too late, i lost fat loss on my temples already, the fat in general and its making my fricken face long when it used to be a perfect oval with a slight big forehead. And yes my face looks so gaunt. I dont know if I can still fix it. Its killing me inside to the point that I don't want to be here at times anymore. I'm obviously not trying to look like in my 20's and not that I can anyways. But I just want to look good as much as I can to better my skin now.

Fact, runner fat loss. I used to run 5 miles a day before my shift at work. Cops need to stay in shape but beware facial fat loss and bad knees 😢
@rajanimdskincare Жыл бұрын
Yes knees too. I used to love running

Hello doc what does reddness on cheeks indicates?
@chellybabyme Жыл бұрын
However, I feel like my fat has gone downwards I thought that if I had a thinner face the gravity wouldn't pull it down so much. I'm not overweight, but I always carry weight in my face before anywhere. Side note, probably reason why I'm not overweight is because I can see it when I look in the mirror before it hits any other part. What about fat dragging the face down?
@calista1280 Жыл бұрын
@chellybabyme, I would like to think so, but as I and a friend are losing weight, our faces are just getting deflated, not lifted... But there's a towel trick: wet a dish towel in salt water and wring out. Twist it gently and holding in both hands lightly slap under the chin rapidly for as long as you can hold your arms up. Looking at the results, it tightens this area and removes the lumphatic sludge away, revealing a tighter slimmer profile!😂

You recommended glycolic acid for making your skin thicker. Now you say it will damage your skin. I am confused
@rajanimdskincare Жыл бұрын
Watch the videos carefully...look for signs of over use. We all have different skin types. I gave 3 things to look for. I love glycolic and retinols

My biggest fear is losing facial fat so I always make sure I eat enough and stay above a certain weight. As for too much sun... I don't know. All those Jamaicans that were serving us at a resort we stayed at all had great skin! They were out in the sun all day serving drinks, food etc. Their skins were so smooth and pimple free, lol. But then I see how they eat - avocados, almonds, fish, mangoes etc, all naturally sourced and all healthy and I figure it must be that!
