Anyone who knows anything [and is more than 30 years old] KNOWS that the two top shotblockers of all time [by a mile] are Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell. Unfortunately, blocks were not an "official" stat during their careers. However, it WAS an "internal stat" for the Philadelphia 76'ers, who employed a statistician who recorded them for all home games. For the 150 or so home games Chamberlain played for the 76'ers, he amassed an incredible 8.8 blocks per game AVERAGE, and in one game had 26 blocks.

@seruresto13865 жыл бұрын
Hakeem no better than third all time. Maybe even less than that. Wilt and Bill blocked way more shots than him, and you have to consider Kareem and Thurmond as well.
@tunanorth3 жыл бұрын
Wilt and Russell deserve some kind of "honorary callout" in any list like this, since the are in fact the #1 and #2 shotblockers of all time by a mile. Its probable the Hakeem is only #4, behind Nate Thurmond.

I agree with your list but what you say about the Dream, not being physically imposing?? He was all the good things you said, but what you left out was that he was, by far the most talented athlete in this field. His athleticism made him very imposing. His speed, quicks, vertical jump,and agility are why he's number 1. Simple.
@TheIcemanthomas6 жыл бұрын
Papa Von illa athleticism isnt physical. Meaning how his body looked. Shaq was huge, robinson was muscular and tall. Eaton and bol were super tall. Hakeem was average in size. Prolly no more than 6'10 or 6'11, 250 lbs or so. Jusr off of eyes you wouldnt be intimidated, until u see him play.

Jermaine O'Neal 4.98 17. Ben Wallace 4.98 18. Patrick Ewing* 4.75 19. Ervin Johnson 4.73 20. Brook Lopez 4.73 Block percentage is a statistic used to estimate how many of an opponent’s two-point field goal attempts are blocked over the course of a game. This is most commonly applied to the blocks completed by a particular defensive player. The percentage takes into account how many minutes the player was on the court, so those who rack up blocks in a short amount of time will have a higher block percentage. Alternatively, block percentage can be calculated for the team as a whole. Because minutes played are not factored into the equation, this is a simpler calculation that simply divides the number of blocked shots by the number of their opponent’s two-point shots in a single game. * Statistics are from basketball Reference.com
Oh I know who Mark Eaton is...he's that bum who's the reason I can't break the blocks record on 2K

Historian your not? Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell the two best legendary rebounders defenders in the nba! Theirs a video that shows Wilt blocking a shot against the board while Bill Russell was the centre? (Lebron did they same and they called it a legendary block ) Wilt never fouled out, that means he placed his body opposite his opponent to play only with his less dominate hand! A guy who got 55 rebounds against Bill Russell and the celtics wouldn't have a high number of blocks? and this was in the most physical era of basketball! Jerry West had his nose broken 9 times? Nate Thurmond throughout his career averaged 15 points and 15 rebounds per game, he's arguably more ripped than modern players and you imply that he didn't block shots on the same level as these 5 players? That's a lack of insight about the rules of 1960s basketball and the players who had a pronounced ruthless physicality that even in the Jordan's era didn't exist at the same level and is none existent in Shaquille O'Neal or the LeBron era?

I think you should have added D. Wade as an hon. mention, just because he's (I think; I haven't checked) the best shot-blocking guard. You should do breakdowns of (stat) by (position), like Best PPG for Centers, PFs, etc. Best Blocks for SG, PG, etc. I'd be curious about that, and that is some pretty easy research to do.
