I like that your #1 advise is damage shields. Damage shields are great, help you stay alive much more reliably than healing does. Healing is still great, but should be the second line of defense in my option.

@@HackTheMinotaur, did that instinctively, just reading the abilities descriptions in game, for my baby Arcanist (I'm trying to check as little on line as possible to enjoy the discovery of it all, at least the first time/character) Btw, could you give me examples of AOE skills for Arcanist/ destruction staff? I've used my "laser beam" to kill up to 4 ennemies at once, especially if "buffed' up with 3 glowing green triangles (forgot the name, what we Arcanist use instead of Mana, if I get that right?) Also, can I stack potions/food by drinking/eating up to 3 or 4 different food/drink or is it a waste and just one is in effect?

I subscribed just now because I’ve watched a few of your vids and you aren’t pretentious, you didn’t give only your biased opinion and tell the viewer what “they need to do or need to slot” like I’ve seen in other vids about eso. Which I like and appreciate as I’m no expert at the game and have struggles a good bit in the time I’ve been playing. And I’ve found looking for advice or tips about eso to be filled with players pretentious biased opinions about which builds, which skills, which sets, and so on are what you’ll “need” to succeed. And a thing else doesn’t exist because they don’t like it

Great info which should be common knowledge. I've been running into CP500-810s that don't know any of these basics, let alone boss/trash red attack/beam/pin interrupts, which are basic tutorial mechanics. They stand there and watch you die.

I play a dragonknight tank in the game, and it amazes me how little people seem to know these basic tips. A lot of what you listed is like tanking 101 with the game. Know your sustain of resources, make sure you dodge and block, and make sure you have your dmg shields up. I was originally a dps but got tired of subpar tanks and decided to just transition to a tank build, and have been breezing through most dungeons i try since lol.

I actually got Iceheart first time to combo it with Winterborn for a fun frost build, but then discovered the shield defensewise is amazing. I soloed Drodda to get the helm as a personal quest (youtube vids helped me with a solo route to get to her) and it was so hard to keep focus on the interrupts. :) It's my favourite monster set, just for the personal story and just how cool it is. Anyway a tangent and it can be so fun to challenge yourself solo and see what you can actually do.

TY for this. I just started ESO and o love it! I played Skyrim - never finished it but ESO is like Skyrim on steroids! The sheer scope of the game is insane! I'm a solo player. I've never been into PvP or any of that stuff. To date ive put about 25 hours in the game and ive joined a group with fellow players that are in sight. I recently joined a few guilds and im trying to figure out how to find ppl to quest with. Just casually - nothing serious. If there was a way to see if someone is undertaking the same quest as you at the same time and if you want to partner that would be great.

I enjoy your videos and applaud your efforts in making builds the best you can and modify each for different play styles. Do you have or recommend zombie farm builds? I know folks say “play the game and level up on your own time.” Well in this “I want it now!” Day and age most folks want to get leveled quick. I’m guilty of that myself. Zombie farms seem to be the best xp per time spent at the moment. Do builds for that would be great.

Really good tips for beginners! 👍 I would add build basics as well such as skill scaling. Stamina abilities get stronger with max stam and weapon damage and so on. 2. Focus on either stam or mag, but have a move or two that can use the other resource, this will up your sustain. Try to balance survivability, sustain and damage according to your play style.

No, the best tips for a beginner who is new to MMOs shows him/her how to work with others... This is an MMO, ffs! Join guilds, encourage skills that have group effects or synergies... The last thing you need when running a group dungeon is 4 solo players, doing their own thing... 2 people working together will out-perform 4 people doing their own thing every time...
@Riko_XIII
@Riko_XIII 4 жыл бұрын
@@tazzeightsixfour9721 there's no reason why it cant be all of the above, I built upon the video by adding more info, in essence "working with others". Being able to work in a group is great but people should know how to their own. This game is 95% solo, with the only group content being dungeons and trials and half of pvp.

@@Riko_XIII Well that's a lie.... Where did you "build upon this video??" Did you suggest that anyone use anything besides an individual focus on magicka or stamina?? 95% of this game CAN be done solo... not 95% should be done solo... In fact, I think the only part of ESO which must be accomplished solo was the Molag Bal quest, and that was before One Tamriel, I think...
@Riko_XIII

@@tazzeightsixfour9721 molag baal, mage guild, fighters guild, psijic, thieves guild, assassins guild, all zone quests, most of the daily quests. These are things you would normally do on your own. Being able to clear it without help is a good thing, being independent is a good thing. Understanding the basic mechanics of the game is important, knowing that max stat affects the effectiveness of moves is valuable information. This is the info I needed when I started and I'm forwarding it to other. Information that I got from joining an awesome guild that help out new players.

@tazzeightsixfour9721 4 жыл бұрын
@@Riko_XIII Spoken like like someone who can't make friends and must do these things solo... I don't know that I even did the main story quest of northern Elseweyr solo.... I know I was grouped with others when I defeated Evil Cadwell... Not that I COULDN'T do it, but why?? I know I was upset because I was busy finishing off adds and didn't get to slay the big bad in the Dark Brotherhood... Apparently, your "normal" is solo in an MMO, which is sad, but praise the divines that the developers made it possible for lonely people to get through this content solo... All I'm saying is if you are a beginner, and are overwhelmed by the mass of content, think about ways to attack content in GROUPS, not ways to hone your single-player skills... The goal of an MMO isn't to ignore grouping up in lieu of solo play... Andre the Giant said it best when he was the Brute squad in "The Princess Bride;""You use different moves when you're fighting 4-5 guys at once..." Being able to get through content with 3-4 people all pulling the same direction is a lot easier, and less discouraging for beginners, than trying to consume content on your own...

Great video. One thing, though. I believe DS's - that is, Damage Shields - are spells that cause the enemy damage when they hit you. Shields that cause damage. Damage shields. What you're looking at there is a Rune effect, or even a Ward. Not a DS. :) Edit: I've seen this effect called damage shield in the wiki, too. I'm still not convinced I'm wrong.
@senorian107
@senorian107 4 жыл бұрын
Nope, damage shields are basically temporary health that sits over your actual health as padding. They arent called wards because wards are already a separate thing in the elder scrolls universe but I can 100% confirm that damage shields are triggerable layers of temporary health with the only caveat being that they don't benefit from your character's resistances, they have never done damage on their own unless an ability or armour set makes them do damage.

Nice guide Hack :) I kinda disagree with one thing though, DoT's are much worse than you stated in the video, instead of doubling dps for each DoT ability, it only adds 10% of your spammable's dps. Also resistances is another thing that's incredibly important, if not the most important point, because healing, damage shields and health get effectively increased with that one stat alone. Been soloing in ESO for years and perfecting solo builds every single day, so this is from personal experience :)

Right off the top of my head: Many raid builds (Alcast, Xynode) will pass up sets and skills since the Tank and Healer are supposed to give the buffs they bestow. So cheating off of those builds is key. Primarily: You will be hard-pressed to over-penetrate on your own. So set bonuses you'd normally avoid because they may be redundant (Night Mother's Gaze), Lover Mundus, Ele Drain or Pierce Armor (if you don't have another source of Major Fracture/Breach like Power of the Light), Sharpened trait, Champion Point pen, even Crusher glyph are all on the table when doing your own pen math. So long as you get to 18,200, you're good (for vMA you may want to only go to 12, or be flexible to modify your pen between rounds since it varies). After that, Slimecraw monster set is great if you don't need the survivability that Iceheart gives. Minor Berserk is usually given to the team by the healer (Combat Prayer) and an 8% boost to all damage (on top of the crit bonus) is asinine. Keeping a toolbox of unequipped skills and sets is important, too. What's on your bar/body isn't the end of your build, having other things that you can swap in between fights will get you through tough mechanics, or high-damage fights. Examples: AOE loadout for multiple bosses/bosses with adds vs single-target, utility like gap-closers, purge, shields, tankier sets vs straight DPS sets. Since you'll be burning down scattered mobs on your own, you may want to watch a tanking video and see what you'd like to adopt. Apart from chains/Silver Leash, you can Line of Sight mobs just as you would PVP opponents and pull them around corners, into tight corridors, etc to group them for quick AoE burns. This falls more under a basic tip, but wasn't covered in the video: Read/watch up on the mechanics ahead of time, esp when soloing Vet content. Know the one-hit-KOs and know what you can dodge/block/ignore. Know what mobs need to be focused or ignored. Know your own DPS so that you can decide whether you're treading water or making progress (good example is healing bosses like Drodda in Direfrost - yes, you can solo Direfrost - where even if you immediately break her heal, you can still lose enough progress with poor DPS that you'll never get her to execute). Magicka users may need to keep tripots on hand for dodge/break free/sprinting intensive fights, but this is rare.

@@mulyanax3921 On my main, I solo'd the big baddy (Molag Bal) back in the day, but that was it... I teamed up (like you're *supposed* to do...) for Mulanmiir (the dragon...) Euraxia Tharn, and evil Cadwell... I think the Molag Bal quest even says *solo* on the loading screen... but that's the only one... Something about ESO being an *MMO* told me while the genius developers made it so it *can* be solo'd, it shouldn't be unless you are the only player left on the server (Which never has happened, nor will it ever...) BTW, tanks and healers are THE MOST essential part of a party... (As a DD, it's important to flex my social skill acumen whenever possible... I could be working on my solo rotation, but this is a more effective way to stay alive in ESO...)

@@molehead89 I'm not gonna hate on you for wanting to get better at soloing content but i really recommend making some friends in the game and trying to get a guild with people you enjoy playing with. While a lot of content can be done solo a large portion can not be done that way. Try getting through trials or dlc dungeons solo and you most likely wont because you need to meet a certain damage requirement to match mechanics (also goes for tanking/healing). As someone who has played eso for years I can definitely say soloing content can be fun, or even just doing content made for more people than what you have (doing normal halls of fabrication with 4 people was a highlight of my time playing). Again, try and find a smaller guild, possibly with people around your skill level so you can grow as players together. It also really helps that in eso 4 people is the max a dungeon can have and 12 for trials so you don't need to search all too much for people/bring people you don't like into groups. Also, I recommend checking out solo pvp videos if you really want to expand your knowledge on how to solo effectively. Things are not all that different for solo players be that pvp or pve. Except maybe sets/traits on armor and a couple skills.

Hack, my Argonian magicka nightblade uses Swallow Soul, Dark Cloak, and (back-bar) Rapid Regeneration for healing. His main weapon is a lightning staff. What heals should I add or change, if any? Sets worn are 5 Crafty Alfiq, 5 Necropotence, and (for now) 2 Julianos, all divines. Mundus is Steed (and damn he's fast!). Thanks.

@@malataur That build is almost identical to the one I use on my magic nightblade. Your healing seems fine but what I would suggest is using the light armor shield morphed to Harness Magicka and switching to an inferno staff over a lightning. The inferno staff makes your single target abilities hit harder (through the destruction staff passives) and magic nightblade does mostly single target damage. As for the mundus stone I would recommend putting it to whatever you need the most. If you have less than 1400-1500 magic recovery i would use the atronach, health a little low? use the lord and so on.

What was that fire Dragon Knight build with the 2 hander and staff? Was it doing magic damage?
@StAngerNo1
@StAngerNo1 4 жыл бұрын
It is a hybrid build. Hybrid builds can be really fun, but generally I would not recommend them, because you will do less damage than if you would focus on one primary damage type. What also a lot of beginners not know is, that max magicka/stamina scales the damage of magicka/stamina based abilities.

I have to be honest, as a veteran player most of this video was laughable. Not because it's bad or incorrect, but because it seems geared strictly towards new beginners despite mentioning it's for all players. However, this video turned out to be extremely informative and I learned a lot, especially on the number one tip. I've seen passives and abilities like that in your previous videos and wondered what the heck that was and this video explained it. This is going to help me out tremendously. Huge props and big thanks, and my apologies for my initial reaction to this video.

Start with Health, and find out how much is Enough. Okay, then start on Defense, and spend the bare minimum resources to stay alive. (Bonus if your Damage Mitigation does Damage like Lightning Form.) Next, Healing... Everything else goes into killing the enemy. Health/Defense doesn't win fights, it keeps you from losing. After that, everything to win the fight.
