Spring Bulbs...the easiest way to a spectacular flower garden! Planted in the fall much like our garlic was, spring bulbs need that winter chilling period to properly set and develop their flowers.

I love tulips especially but I can’t grow in my garden as my dog will eat any flowers that come up for some reason she does and we don’t know why. Do you know anything that’s safe to grow for dogs? I would really appreciate some help. We know she’s ok with marigold as she’s eaten them this year and they came back too lol. I want to have a lovely garden with lots of fruit and veg but also one that the dog uses all day from spring till autumn.

Love all bulbs!! Hyacinth is a favorite for the wonderful scent. My favorite daffodil type is the Tete e Tete, miniature and multiple blooms on a stem. So cute!! I planted several pots for Christmas gifts. Happy winter to you!!

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Yes! They work really well indoors and are always a part of my indoor planted spring bulb pots. I line a big basket with cellophane to protect my tables and top the bulb pots with some sphagnum moss to hide the plastic pots and they are so lovely in winter/spring. Go for it, Jeff!! You will be happy you did!!

Oh I love the smell of hyacinth and this year I bought an orange variety. Parrot tulips 🌷 are such fab variations 👍👍 can’t wait for spring 😂😂. Have a great weekend Jeff and hang on to your hat winds are coming 🐝 safe

Garlic on this week on the "wet" coast. Tulips, daffs already done. Winter veg are up, slow but hanging in there.

Yep, planted daffodils and red tulips back in October (said so on the package). So far we had one night of light frost, which was a week ago. I guess I planted them too early.

Zone 8? For sure. If you can get them chilled for a few months, they'll come out in the spring like crazy!

Hi! I'd like to plant tulip bulbs in pots (due to gopher and squirrel problems) for next spring. I've seen a video that suggest placing hardware cloth on top, to prevent squirrels from digging and getting to the bulbs from the top. The video suggests that the tulip will not have a problem growing through it. Is that possible?

I've had some bent stems with hardware cloth. I'd definitely remove it when they start to sprout up.

I think you'd be ok with Daffodils and Tulips as long as the ground isn't frozen yet Tressan.
