The hip thrust gets me. It makes me want to fall over backwards and it doesn’t seem like I get anything from it. My press has really stalled out at 110. Male, 6’, 195ish (I don’t have a scale)

My problem is breathing. When the press gets heavy, I can't catch a big breath and hold it through five reps. I can usually only get two or three reps on one big breath. When I pause my reps to take a new breath, I am lucky to get one additional rep. Usually, I can't even do that... Any advice?

Is there any common reason your elbows hurt when you press? For me they get extremely irritated from about the last quarter of the movement getting overhead. If I cheat and don't lock out they're not bad, but as soon as go full lockout they're screaming again. It's not from squats either, I use a Marrs bar to squat.

When my press was stuck and I had addressed “the first 3 questions” starting strength article, I had to do more of an intermediate press program which included more volume, heavy sets and back off sets. That got me to a Bodyweight press.
