I would've loved a trans jude so much more. I feel like that arc could've been a better fit character wise, show wise, and character development wise. Especially as far as the other children go. Sometimes people forget that being accepting of gay people/ being gay doesn't automatically mean that people are accepting of trans individuals. The process of him coming out to his family and even transitioning, would be very new to TV, especially with him being a main character. I'm disappointed they didn't go in that direction.

Hello- trans representation is good but also when cis actors are used to tell this story it perpetuates the idea that trans people are just boys pretending to be girls or vice versa. I'm sure Hayden Byerly would have respected and honored the role but ultimately trans roles should be left to trans actors. I am glad the chose to give voice to the community by including trans talent such as Elliot Fletcher to tell the trans narrative instead.
