The hilariously outlandish and tank-loving KZbinr Lazerpig came to see us recently. Not only did he pick out his Top 5 Tanks from our collection… but he honoured us with his very first on-camera appearance. Neither will disappoint!

I would imagine they had seen and laughed at lazerpigs unique history-comedy. And they knew they could not replicate it as good as it should be, but they had a bunch of tanks that would be prime material for this sort of comedy. so they got the only man capable of doing it justice, lazerpig himself. And for the same reason the T 72 is remembered as one of the great tanks of the 20th century and of the new century. Designed with overarching strategic concerns warfare in mind it has adequate to above average tactical characteristics, but is best optimized for transport, repair, and production.

a case of the paper and the test range saying the Tiger is great vs a Sherman in a 1 vs 1 duel or a 3 vs 3 duel. fails to account for stuff like the logistic nightmare one tank can be over the other. Does not matter if you have the best tank in the world if you can get it off the little island it was built on (not talking about the UK here but more the small island on the river where some idiot put a tank factory on and now gets informed that the bridges can´t take the tank you just built. It does not matter if your tank is the best if it have the maintenance requirments of 20 hour of maintenence per 1 hour of driving. vs the US sherman that I think was like 4 per hour or so.

It was the only British tank to serve throughout the entire war, and also the only British tank to serve on all three fronts of the war. It holds those titles for a reason. The Matilda II wasn't a terrible tank. It was just a dead-end design - too small, underpowered, undergunned - with no capacity to have its flaws ironed out. People tried, but it was just easier to design a new tank altogether. However, the Matilda was in its element when it was allowed to move slowly and bully tanks smaller than itself, because under such conditions it was basically invincible. In the dense jungle terrain of Pacific islands, the Japanese hated it because their usual anti-tank weapons and tactics were almost useless against it.

The reason is production date and lend-lease; nothing else. The Churchill and Valentine both fought on every front for the duration of the war as well. The only difference is they weren't available in 1939. The reason it continued to serve throughout the duration of the war is every army used old tank designs throughout the war. The Germans still used the Panzer II until the very end.

Note about Iraqi tanks in Desert Storm/Shield, if you look at the footage of Iraqi tanks during Medina Ridge you can see that they were hulling down and entrenching their armor, and the Abrams would still pierce straight through the entrenchments and pop them like they were nothing.
