Going through those boxes of miscellaneous parts and mumbling to myself that “it’s got to be in here somewhere” after seeing how much it would cost to buy a new one of whatever that part might be.

Truth! I'm your age and my hands have been changing lately. 100% 💯 Empty cases under beds, in closets and narrow spaces. My great triumph was reusing my oldest knobs from my first guitar I ko longer have on my latest Warmoth Tele build. 35 years sitting in my parts box.
@nellayema24552 ай бұрын
Good ones! Get well soon! I have the case problem. I also have the box of stuff, too. I stupidly threw away an early '70's Strat bridge pup years ago. I don't want to make that mistake again, so now I'm a parts hoarder.

Yes, I definitely have a box problem. So much so that I'm paying storage just to keep them. Storage is for other things, too, but it's 75% empty boxes that I might need one day 🤦♂️

The hours of practice that happens behind closed doors between playing a show or on video. Every second of successful playing, there's hours and hours of drills and practice. It can sometimes get in the way of your social life, and that can get kind of depressing. I feel like no one talks about it much. Maybe I took the assignment too seriously lol

After a similar 40 years of playing, I have some serious carpel tunnel in my left hand and can barely feel the strings anymore. Even some loss in dexterity, probably from numbness. I sometimes have to take a week or two off to get the stinging and numbness to subside. I have found that 1-5/8th width standard thin necks help quite a bit.

One thing that annoys me is, I will be shredding away, tearing it up on the guitar. The civilians won’t think anything of it. Then I’ll start playing a Nirvana song and they’ll be totally impressed.

Something in those boxes of parts you "know you'll never use" will be needed the moment you get rid of them. Although my hands are able to make "heavy metal devil's horns", my mind is the barrier, and I find knowing there are some that physically can't, quietly comforting. I can identify with the guitar player-civilian divide. Guitarists do seem to live in a world of their own, hardly acknowledging there's anything more than just the "guitar part".

Another excellent video from Shaggy, this time a more introspective contemplative side of Shaggy. It would be interesting to see a similar video from Scooby-Doo, what are the pluses and minus of being a dog ? Example you have a fur coat, so no bothering with clothes, the downside being it's hard to keep with fashion trends, since as I said you don't wear anything. Also being a talking dog you can communicate with other people and beings, downside they can communicate with you. Bye for now

More guitars than you can play in a week. Neck, shoulder and back stress pains from playing heavy guitars for too many years. More amplifiers to go with all the guitars. More guitar effects pedals to keep up with the different changes in music styles to stay working.

I suffer from tennis elbow and golf elbow my fingers on one hand lineup differently to the fingers On the other hand. One of my fingernails splits in two after years years of playing guitar and the nail rubbing up against the string. I can tilt my head further to the right and I came to the left, I can turn my head further to the right then the left. I suffered from shortened nerve syndrome giving my middle finger the ability not to work for over two years. My neck is stuffed….Totally wrecked not to mention how bad my back is and how I tilt to one side more than the other. Thanks for listening 😊

Hm. I would've though the list would include singers (for obvious reasons), keyboardists (with their supercilious smirks about our lack of music theory), bass players (the smell), drummers (making us go deaf with those cymbals right in our ears) and sound men (wanting us to turn down all the time). Honorable mention: other guitarists: who needs 'em trying to steal our thunder? I guess it all depends on what you consider "suffering."

I suffer from the Nr:2 on your list. Just throw everything away that you don't use. Clean space = relaxed mind. I can't throw anything away since the stuff that is so cheap that it is not worht selling but lays around for decades, belongs to my wife. If I ever touch them or throw them away I will solve the problem Nr 2 but create a whole new list of problems at the same time.
