Great video! I owned a manufacturing company for years and it was an incredible struggle trying to get the customers to understand various custom options. For one thing many people refused to read text at all. They wanted pictures. Everything was pictures then, now everything is video. Now with Amazon, people just order anything without looking into it too deeply and expect to send it back if it’s not right on account of their ordering the wrong thing. Oh well… Great to see somebody else’ sharing the pain on US manufacturing and doing the fantastic job that you guys at Warmoth do. I don’t think the average person has any idea how difficult manufacturing is. There is always something going on, always. Particularly with a natural product like wood which has blemishes, different colors from batch to batch, a different way of receiving paint finish from lot to lot. On and on, thanks for doing it! I love my Warmoth guitars.

A vexing style guide question at my work: When does one use the words "a few", "several", and "many" in a written product? You'd be amazed at how heated the arguments can get. Our style guide does not specify a threshold for each. Meanwhile, I'm partial to Fender Classic Tuning Machine Heads.
@shadowspectrum3 жыл бұрын
Ok, the real question is what is the difference between the Schaller and sperzel options (both 10mm)? I'm buying a warmoth neck and putting hipshot tuners (10mm) in it. Does it matter which hole size, which are seemingly the same, I choose?
@BenBreard3 жыл бұрын
@warmoth ***best video idea I have*** it would be cool to explore the sonic difference of the 24 fret reposition of the neck pickup. Take a strat body with a boat or H route in the neck. Play with a standard pickguard then A/B with a different guard that cut for the 24 reposition. I bet the difference is pretty big, but I would love to be proved wrong! (Bonus points if both S & H pickups are used) :)

My mind was blown about the visual/writing style guide stuff. So obvious but never thought about it. So important for a company too. Tuner labels are the most confusing thing ever. You have a right-handed guitar, but the neck is on the left hand side. The tuners are operated via left hand. So the tuners are left side tuners, for a right-handed guitar. This has to be the most confusing part of shopping guitar parts. And the thing is that I don't think too many webstores have different images for the left and right side tuners, and sometimes the headstocks have interesting hole configurations. And even if the pictures were different, you can't quite intuitively figure out which direction they should go and what shape are they when they are left side or right side tuners. You just have to know this.

It seems Warmoth follows industry standard nomenclature for tuner handedness. IE which side of the headstock the tuning key sticks out from is the handedness of the tuner. Too bad Ebay vendors don't. They seem to think it has something to do with the handedness of the guitar!

just my 2 cents guess: why don't call them top/bottom instead of left/right?
@lsdzheeusi3 жыл бұрын
Probably the most common error I see on a consistent basis: It's a maple NECK, if it is constructed of a single piece of wood, with the frets attached directly. It's a maple FINGERBOARD, if the fingerboard is a separate piece of wood from the neck (which may be the same, or different wood). I'd say the typical Warmoth customer clearly understands the distinction and is far less likely to make this mistake. But, as a general observation, it's rampant in the guitar community.

@@JaeTLDR1 if you try and mount the wrong tuners the wood screw that secures the tuner can stick off the edge of the headstock. If you look at the back of a headstock, say a strat with common tuners ie a small wood screw on some shapes of headstock that screw hole will be off the edge or more commonly the new tuners screws won’t line up with the old ones if you’re trying to replace existing tuners

Locking tuners or vintage style only in my honest opinion. I get wasted and pass out while playing a lot lolz. When I wake up I don't want to find my face sliced open from head stock strings hanging off. Plus I accidently cut myself or poke myself on em all the time on them things. Sooo annoying. Especially if your headstock is amazing looking and you can't resist touching it because it's amazing. (I own a black falcon PE lol... Gimme a break lol.) It honestly doesn't matter much though. Whatever works for you is best I guess. I'd go with locking though if you put a gun to my head. Change strings the fastest basically... And the tune holding is pretty good of course.

Um... Aaron... You do know you have almost two minutes of black screen at the end of your video...? Seriously, though, it's so much easier to define tuners by the handedness of the intent, the way Fender, Sperzel, Schaller, Gotoh, etc do... IE, "6 in line, right handed" means that the six tuners are in a single line and in the traditional location of a right-handed guitar with 6 in line (what you guys are calling left-side?). If there's three on each side, it's a "3+3". If it's a 6 in line with a reversed headstock, then "6 in line Left handed". Of course, if you just get Sperzels, this is never an issue, since you can simply reverse them with a small screw driver. Comes in handy if you're doing a MusicMan stile 4+2...
