What colour pickguard is that? "Pearloid", "white pearl", or "vintage pearl"? I'm insterested in getting a white pearloid pickguard from Warmoth, but I can't tell which one I'd like in real life cause the site only has animated renderings of the colours

I think the 78 just sounds better in general. It’s has more character, it’s warmer sweeter and has more clarity. Hot pafs is where it’s at.

I use the same Music Nomad cradle also. Does the job well for both electric and acoustic guitars. I use it also to hold my iPhone for watching KZbin while working on the bench.

If I recall correctly, the Music Nomad cradle's two sides have different depths to support different neck profiles. Its deepest option was great for my boatneck!

I used that Music Nomad neck cradle to up set my first Warmoth partsocaster, the prototype for the circuit I invented, seven years ago. I am currently planning my fifth Warmoth project, as I finally noticed that I can order a Nomad body with the 720 Mod and a Fender-style, low hardtail bridge (I prefer the Babicz Full Contact Hardware Fixed 6 Original.).

To me, The Canary has more character with Rosewood coming a close second. For me, its the 'personality' of the sound rather than sharpness and volume. But thats my preference. But then im looking at what I would want to play and hear over what an audience would need.

Hot Tip: You can use a bunch of masking tape and two cans of spray paint (red and white) to turn any of those neck cradles a lot more versatile!

All good wood should play like good wood should. Maybe it’s not as much about the type of wood as it is the quality of the source…

What's the downside to cork?

I have one of those Musicnomad ones. I don't even remember where or when I bought it - I suspect it was on sale somewhere, an impulse buy. But it's proved its value over and over ever since.

In the true spirit of an exclusively bedroom player, I do all string changes on my bed. The neck cradle is the edge of the bed. Works fine as long as your headstock doesn't tilt back by about 2.5 - 3 feet.

I had a cork one for 3 years and never lost a single bit off of it. Even after I cut a big chunk out. The issue they do have is THEY'RE TOO NARROW. So they fall over, to the left or right, WAYYYYYY too much. They need to be about 4 inches wider, IMO. I use the Hercules thing. It's wide enough that it doesn't fall over sideways and you can choose from multiple heights. Edit: they tip just like the Stewmac cradle. It sucks.

You don't like cork? we cannot be friends. Careful if you put any nitro finish on that rubbery grippy material. You might go all Tom Murphy on your finish.

On a side note, I do have the same Music Nomad cradle. I use it to hold all of my fret end files, when it’s turned upside down it makes a neat little 4-way catagorizer for tools 😊

I have a few different ones, the one I use the most often though is one I purchased via Stew Mac, I believe they call it their dead blow support. It’s basically cloth filled with some sort of sand and it’s extremely firm. It’s also adjustable for different heights. As always thanks for your videos Aaron, I love Warmoth 🤙

There's another option, people with access to 3D printers. You could simply print your own! Some models already exist for people who don't know how, but for those who do know how to design their own you could make one custom to fit your exact use and it would only cost you a dollar worth of plastic.

I've used pillows before but a solid mount that holds the neck firmly in place is best because we all know how accident prone us guitar players are

A company called Mr. Power makes an all-cork cradle that does not rock, has two different heights and is obviously is a softer material for being in contact with the guitar. I had the Music Nomad but couldn't get past paying real money for a piece of hollow PVC. They both work, but one seems like an item from the .99 cent store. My luthier uses weighted lead shot bags made from leather which really stay put but they look expensive.
