Great vid & I very much enjoyed this. I'm also glad you liked it as it really is a very good bike that gets overlooked as it's not the latest & greatest thing around. It definitely deserves the recognition for being as you put it, a great value good honest motorbike! Most people can't regularly afford 15-20k bikes &/or multiple bikes so this is a much more realistic proposition. Also fun fact, for some unbeknown reason Suzuki's quoted power figure is approx rear wheel bhp for the GSXS 1000's so in reality it's actually puting out 160bhp+ at the crank. Plenty of dyno vids on line supporting it too.

Hi Andy, I’ve owned one since 2017. Awesome motorcycle and as you’ve mentioned...a great all rounder. The only weak link that has occurred during my ownership is that the gear indicator switch has a limited lifespan. Oil can gradually migrate into the switch and play havoc with its operation. The electronics start hunting for correct fuelling as the switch throws up false readings. It’s easily replaced but it is expensive. During my time with this motorcycle I’ve had to purchase two. Nice review 👍🎥. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

I've got one of these. If you look at an inflation calculator, it's the same price as a Bandit 1200 when it was new, and yet it has much better suspension, is much lighter, has more power, and is probably better built. It's basically a 1000cc version of a CBR600F or a ZX9R from 20 years ago. More people who either squeeze themselves onto race reps, or go the dull route and buy 'adventure' bikes would probably be far better off and have far more fun on one of these, or even a Z1000SX - although the Kawasaki is noticeably heavier and doesn't steer as nicely.

I looked at buying one in 2018, but was put off by its lack of practicality. The shape of the tail section makes fitting any kind of luggage awkward and the available hard luggage ruins the bike; not ideal for a sport tourer. Aprilia would (bizarrely) call it a naked sport bike (like the almost fully-faired Tuono (and I think that's nearer the mark.
@ashleyreynolds66043 жыл бұрын
Suzuki don't market this as a sports tourer but folk liken it to the Z1000SX although they're quite different from each other. The GSX S1000F is 'a comfortable sportsbike' according to Suzuki. It feels more sporty than the Kawasaki too according to tests.

I had one of these on a 2018 plate during lockdown1 and loved the looks, price and features etc etc but my one was horrible to ride with a snatchy throttle, surging and hunting below 4000rpm. Looks like the one you have in your review has been sorted nicely. They look great with a tail tidy and i would buy another one day possibly. However, one gripe i did have was the cable clutch and the biting position being so close to the bars. There seems to be a lot of mods suggested on the net as to how to resolve the snatchy power delivery including changing the throttle tube for an oblong shaped Katana version, adding a power commander, adjusting the Tps etc etc. However, the 2020 version in this video seems to be run very nicely so Suzuki must have sorted that problem now.

What I cannot understand is that, in order to get a bike with a fairing, you have to buy a 4-cylinder tourer. Why can't they make a twin with a fairing. The weather in Europe is often cold and wet, and not everyone wants to have to buy a car for the winter. The problem with Japanese high end sports bikes is the Yen Exchange Rate which has made Japanese products much more expensive to buy. Japan has countered with cheaper bikes to make or made in other countries. The 90s and early 2000s the Yen Rate was much more attractive and the bikes better than what we can buy now. Question :: You seem almost "sold" on the bike and you keep saying that you are always impressed when you get to ride an inline 4 motor On a scale of 0 - 10 , how close are you Andy to having one in your stable ? Best regards Shaun

Not that close now I have a six cylinder!! Seriously I would have one in a heart beat if I had space......

I thought at first this was a contender for our next bike but the pillion accommodation doesn't look appropriate for my 68 year old wife. If hard luggage isn't possible then it's a no-no. Hardley a sports tourer.
@ashleyreynolds66043 жыл бұрын
Its not presented as a sports tourer by Suzuki. Have a look at Ninja 1000SX perhaps 👍

@@TheMissendenFlyer do you think jumping from a 125 to a 1000 is maybe a step too far? Oh by the way the insurance is next to nothing for an old bugger like me😃
@TheMissendenFlyer Жыл бұрын
Generally I would say yes - but in the case of this bike it's not too manic and you sound sensible - just take it very easy for the first month or so to get used to the massive power (and weight) compared to the 125....a 650cc would make more sense to be honest....

I too suffer with too much wind. It happens when you get to a certain age. I think the suzuki is a bargain because it uses 15 year old engine, cycle parts and tech. The R&D was probably fully paid off 10 years ago. I don't think they have been too popular and are dated in the grand scheme of things. Almost every suzuki is discounted at the moment. £££ off bikes like the katana and SV.

Has anyone here ever ridden a Suzuki bandit 650 injection model and also this gsx-s1000f and if so can you tell me if this bike is much like the bandit (only more powerfull) which are the biggest differences? I'm thinking of upgrading but i really love my bandit 650 or should i replace this bike for my kawa Z900 (which really sucks in my opinion) just curious for biggest differences between this bike and a Suzuki bandit, so if anyone knows these please tell

The front looks a bit like a scooter with gigantism. Rest of the package seems pretty appealing overall.
@kleinbottled793 жыл бұрын
Might be largely down to that touring screen now that you mention it.
@ashleyreynolds66043 жыл бұрын
Unfortunate product of wind tunnel testing. The fairing actually generates around 15kg of downforce making the faired version more stable than the naked at high speed.
@conkerman013 жыл бұрын
I have just bought a 2016 model, It's very good indeed. Although the suzuki touring screen is extortionately expensive (List £270). Seat height is a bit higher than a FZ1. These bikes are a steal, and can be had for £9k new. The headlights are a bit rubbish, especially after having a GS with LEDs. I'd class it as a more upright sports bike rather than the sports tourer that it is often described as, the rear end doesn't particularly lend itself to luggage.
