I'm in the prime of my earning potential. I never leave the house without a PB&J sammich and some granola bars. Helps me not buy fast food often. Cheap snack that can save you from buying $8-$12 junk food from fast food restaurants.

There was a couple of times tonight that you guys insinuate that tech is just an easy peasy career to just jump in. Again, like any other industry (podcasting for instance) you can do it but you HAVE to put in the work to get nice, you HAVE to know what you’re doing. Not just anyone can cut it as an engineer! Lots of different positions tho. QA, Scrum Master, Project Manager, Business analyst etc, those aren’t the 6figure and up positions tho. you can find your niche but KZbin can’t teach you what you need to earn a living as a software engineer. It can help you once you know wtf you’re doing but don’t mislead people into thinking hey I can just watch a couple of videos and get a job. Wish I caught the live stream to post this. Hope it reaches those who need to hear it. We need more AA in tech for sure tho.

@@ItsGooseIsland actually fresh made it seem like coding was some easy field to hop into that didn't require college. Sure you can go to a coding boot camp and become a coder but the majority of software engineers have actual degrees. I live in a major city with major tech companies and I have friends in those companies. I'm an engineer myself

@@dontemcl I swear I responded to this with a long ass post. Depends on what you’re interested in developing. Myself, I am a mobile developer that focuses on Android. For me, my languages are Java and Kotlin. I have a bit of python exp and you have to be familiar with languages such as json, xml, sql etc. I would recommend starting out with an object oriented language such ass Java or python. There are tons of resources available for these languages and you have the ability to be versatile in the job market. You can work on front end projects like websites, mobile apps etc or backend work, developing services that communicate with front end applications. I’d say grab a course from udemy, finish it, grab a book and power through it at least twice and look up any boot camps in your area. Key is hours logged tho man. You gain the best experience by working on projects, reading pre-existing code and understanding what the previous developer was trying to accomplish and why they constructed their methods or classes the way they did. Debugging errors is key too

For Tech, you can self teach yourself a coding or scripting language if you want to go that route, or you can study for one of a million different certifications and use that to get an entry level support job to get started. You could also start your own IT support business with certs to get you of the ground and give you some credibility.

Nothing = Bronze Certs or Degree only = Silver Degree+Certs = Gold Degree+Certs+Clearance = Platinum Assuming person doesn’t have any experience And IT is such a blanket term, determine what area you want to focus in then naturally you learn other aspects of the field once you’re around the other roles.

You're locked permanently out of most serious jobs if you skip out on college (you'll have to go an actual uni eventually). It's only a waste of time if you make it one _Even if_ you're not smart, or even pretty stupid, as long as you have some charisma the easiest path to making 200k+ (possibly 500k+ or above if you're not mediocre) is simply going college -> MBA -> consulting and then make said money doing pure BS.

Yup and most people don’t even know how to budget. Most will eventually get into debt over spending every month. The credit card companies know this and it’s why they offer all kinds of sweet incentives. For people who are disciplined with their finances, yes using a credit card for its rewards is the smart option. But unfortunately most people don’t have that discipline.
