Don't forget #2: Get a little tin of screw wax, pilot, apply wax to screw, run it in. If you feel any resistance run it back out, reapply wax and run it again. The difference between waxed and non waxed is huge.

Aaron feels like a good friend and I always look forward to watching the videos when I get a notification, even if the topic isn’t my area of interest. Warmoth, Aaron was a brilliant choice for this role, he does your company a HUGE service, and you should do whatever you can to keep him around in this role as long as possible.

My favorite thing to do while I wait for Warmoth parts is drawing the guitar's wiring diagram in DIYLC. No matter how much thought I have put into the circuit (Hint: Warmoth's rear control route for Soloist and similar bodies is reassuringly huge.), I focus better come assembly time when I can look at a diagram. I also write a list of assembly steps which I will check off as I work: the process of writing and rewriting that list really helps. Warmoth is a refuge as guitar companies refuse to provide certain combinations of features.

Well, I've been waiting while to finally finish the guitar that will be joining the Warmouth Strat syle neck that I ordered back in 1990. Originally meant to replace the factory Kramer neck on my 86' Kramer-Ferrington acoustic Strat, but then decided to keep it on and just make a Strat myself. I've already built a Danelectro 59' DC replica from scratch, the only purchased parts were the tuners, pickup/electronic parts and frets. Everything else was made from materials already available. As for the Strat project, still undecided as far as pickups go. The top of the body will be made from "up-cycled" German wine crates and the rest from a specific type of pine the only grows above 2000m in the Austrian mountains. Like I mentioned as far as pickups go considering either a single humbucker or P-90 in the bridge position or a P-90 bridge / Lipstick neck combo. Really yearning for the non-fine tuning Floyd Rose. BTW, the number on my Warmouth neck is hand written 1.893, have any info on what this means?

Great timing. Got the 'your order has shipped' email only hours before you posted the video, a month earlier than I was expecting, AND UPS tracking says I should receive it tomorrow! I'm in the UK. I'll be stunned if it does arrive tomorrow, nevertheless, my mind is somewhat blown.

One thing I loved doing while I waited was design the aesthetics. I ordered an unfinished mahogany diamondback and a custom neck, because I wanted to custom paint the guitar myself. I'm from the UK and it was £100 cheaper to get a Schaller Lockmeister instead of an Original Floyd Rose (It's almost identical to the OFR and 100% interchangeable, a Schaller rep confirmed). And also the Lockmeister comes with different radius options, so you're not stuck with 10 inch like on the OFR. And I got my pickup from Bare Knuckle Pickup because they were amazing on advising on pickup choice based on guitar type and musical style, plus they're customisable to match the paint job. The whole thing is not hard as long as long as you do your homework on getting the right parts. As for second guessing, the cool thing about partscasters is that you can change out parts to your hearts desire. And when custom making a neck, try out the guitars you like first and really know what you want. I normally play PRS guitars and wanted to be able to have the action lower without fret buzz, so I got the Gibson scale length, 1 11/16 nut width and a 10-16 inch radius so it wasn't too far off what I was used to.

I would love to see a series of videos on warmouth showing the best ways to build different guitars. Different neck and bridge combinations, you know...Aron, you could build each one and then donate it to a good cause! Or put them in the showcase...❤ they would be great for"what to do while waiting" 🎸🎶

My only correction: don't order pickups too early. I like to order pickups as near as possible to parts receipt. Some manufacturers have a 30-day return option. You'll lose your return option if the pickups are sitting in a box for 30 days while waiting for the parts. .

Good advice! Every time I do a project I lose my mind waiting for the parts to arrive, and then when I start assembling things I realize I forgot something. A couple screws, a pickup ring, an old part I was re-using doesn't work out, some sort of specialty tool like a router bit I didn't realize I needed, etc. Go through your plans with a fine tooth comb and save yourself that headache, so when the time comes you can hit the ground running.

I just placed my first order of a cool telecaster. For my Tuner Hole Size I got the Gotoh/Grover (13/32" - 11/32") I’ve been reading that it’s hard to find the right tuners for this option. Any tips, or should have Warmoth change it?

Yes, second guessing is something of a lesser sin. It drives you (and the Warmoth customer service folks) crazy. Other advice: Be wary of ordering whacky combinations that you've never tried before ever, unless you really like adventure with your wallet. There is a reason why some seemingly vanilla specs are so popular: They just work.

I gotta add another "Not what to do." Always make sure you filled out your options correctly and read them over before placing the order. I selected the wrong peg holes a 12 string neck and had to re-drill them. Luckily Warmoth's sales department directed me to the right tools to do it.

I'm still frustrated that you guys don't have a storefront anymore. We used to be able to just walk in and buy stuff. The fact that I live right down the road and probably drive right past the factory at least once a week, yet I have to pay for shipping, is super fristrating. 😕

Can only tell you the 5 things not to do when waiting for your parts to arrive. Lol. 1. Don't call every day asking when it will arrive. 2. Don't try to make last minute changes. 3. Don't try to combine orders. 4. Don't try to separate orders. 5. Don't keep returning parts and reordering em. Or you might get cut off.

I had to make a lot of small changes (fasteners and small hardware) to an order years ago because I was doing it for my father, who did not take stock of his spares before providing me with what turned out to be his initial order. I think the third or fourth addition is when I was told that no more changes would be accepted. Thankfully, there has been no evidence that Warmoth has held that against me.
