This Van does exist in two versions. The version you drove is called Vito (in Germany/ Europe). The version for the luxury is called V-Class. The major look is the same. But bumper, lights and of corse the intirior are different.

I don't know how it is in the US But in Europe there are two versions - The Vito which is for workers, so cheap and durable - The Viano which is for Family and is very high end (and very expensive) So the viano has none of your negative Points, but it is expensive

David CD why cap them off, when it would not only be cheaper to leave them in, but you also get the functionality of having them?
@davidcd396

+Justin Davison Not saying that isn't true, but my base work truck was filled with black caps and those dummy "You should've worked harder" buttons and switches. If there were really no way that would bring down the cost, then the W/T trims would be the more expensive than the top-of-the-line model with everything like the the Platinum models. If Mercedes can't figure out a way to lower the cost by cutting unnecessary equipment, then it's because they're just not trying and passing unnecessary expenses to their customers.
@DoRC
@DoRC 7 жыл бұрын
David CD it's a different situation. The truck line was designed from the beginning to have the different options and trim levels and the factory is setup for them. In the case it's likely that Mercedes did a cost analysis and determined that it would cost them more for the molds and tooling to make the blanking plates for just one model than to just leave the paddle buttons in. The rest of the infrastructure for the shifting would be there regardless.

I bought one loaded, painted bumpers, mag wheels, cruise, camera etc., shop around. It does everything my old E250's did but with twice the gas mileage in comfort and style. After 30K mile the van averages 23.8 mpg, if I reset the computer while in cruise control at 65 mph, it over reads 30 mpg loaded with shelves, partition and loaded with tools and HVAC stock. Make sure you get the blind spot car indicator option, it should be standard. The sporty mirrors lack confidence when changing lanes to the right, BEEP!

This vehicle’s likability depends upon which segment you compare it to. I’m not convinced it holds its value against its competitors in the cargo passenger conversion segment. Doug DeMuro compared it to the Touring Odyssey where it was found to be woefully inept and overpriced.

The problem is that the U.S. financially pushed VW out with the chicken tax. There have been no mid-size utility van offerings in the U.S. by U.S. manufacturers. Consumers in the U.S. are only offered family passenger vans or overly tall utility vans that cannot fit in a garage. Van consumers have the problem that they cannot park large utility vans on the street because dictatorial home owners associations place restrictions on van height. Similarly, utility vans are often broken into by thieves for tools/parts. If U.S. manufacturers are going to be absent in producing mid-size vans that will fit in garages, then foreign competition should be allowed back in. The Metris is one of the few mid-size offerings for U.S. consumers just as long as you don't want options like cruise control or other safety features that people outside the U.S. can easily get.
@aaronbehindbars
@aaronbehindbars 7 жыл бұрын
You can option the Metris passenger van up with some nice equipment as mentioned in the video. For $43k, you end uo with cruise, backup cam, blindspot detection, lane keep, and plenty of other goodies. In Europe is served under the name Vito. Commercial vehicles Mercedes Benz rust quickly, because the group does not invest dentgi it. And they think that fuckers will do it.

It's strange that MB does not sell the V Class in the US. It's a more expensive Metris, but fully loaded and better refined interior. The Metris is the equivalent of the "Vito" sold in Europe, which is just a van.

My God this thing is so ugly looking. The black bumpers make it look even worse. I get that it is more of a work van, but I'd be embarrassed to be seen in this using it for it's intended purpose. Mercedes needs to stick to what they do best in the consumer market and make luxury cars.

dchawk81 I think for my money I would go buy one of the Ford vans. They look decent, but they are still very functional, and I feel like you would just get more out of one.

The Metris, also know as; "The calculator", "The Escape Room", "The Gym", "The Chick Magnet" etc, is built in a world full of unhealthy, pessimistic, and low IQ people. This results in a lack of decent and or honest reviews in favour of this life changing car. Owning a Mercedes Benz Metris is all you need to remain happy and healthy in life. As Dr. Merzenich explains, "your brain is designed and constructed to be stimulated and challenged". If you don't use your brain you lose it! That's why Mercedes strategically made the car so difficult to use. Not only is it keeping our brains stimulated at all times, but its putting the victim under circumstances where teamwork is a key component of breaking out of the puzzling escape room. This not only improves social skills, but it forms deeper relationships with those who are trapped together. Whether or not the Metris pulls the ladies, is not a question. It's a fact. The engineers at Mercedes knew this all too well, that's why they used their many years of experience to implement awrkward, heavy seats. You don't need a gym membership to get in good shape, all you need is to attempt to get to the back seat of a Metris, workout complete. The heavy seats get the blood moving to the muscles giving the user a pump before communicating with any potential partners. Ignorant car reviewers complain that the Metris was poorly built and as a result, the car seats rattle in the back creating noise. They couldn't be more wrong. The rattling sound is not a byproduct of a poorly engineered automobile, but instead a manifestation of forward planning by the caring engineers of Mercedes Benz. A new study from Harvard indicates that people who have slept for fewer than seven of the past 24 hours have higher odds of being involved in and responsible for car crashes. The risk is greatest for drivers who have slept fewer than four hours. An estimated seven percent of all motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. and 16 percent of fatal crashes involve driver drowsiness. The genius engineers knew that Metris owners won't be getting much sleep from all the action they'll be getting from the ladies after owning one. To compensate for this loss of sleep, they designed the seats to rattle, preventing the driver from sleeping at the wheel. In conclusion, Mercedes Benz only creates "The best or nothing". I didn't even mention how to Metris has a positive effect on climate change, or how its capped at a low speed to prevent speeding fines. Doubt your doubts before you doubt the Metris.

That might be the cheapest looking and most spartan interior I've seen on any modern vehicle. You can already see scratches and scuffs, and it's not even that old yet. Everyone talks about how low-rent GM and Ford commercial vans were, but this looks even worse and doubt it'll hold up to a year two of operator abuse.
