Cracking video, as is the norm on Hookpoint! Always been fascinated by tope, since first seeing an article on them in a book or magazine when I was a wee pup, many moons ago. Living in the Midlands and London for most of my life, I never got the chance to go after them, only sea fishing a few days each year. However, since moving to Cornwall in November of 2022, I no longer have an excuse, or reason, to not go hunting these beautiful fish! Will have to do some research and see if I can locate any marks along the west coast. Bet there's a decent spot somewhere along North Cliffs, IF you can access them!

Got the 12footers 8oz test out Smooth hounds caught here to 20lb too never caught any type of sea fish other than flounder so anything’s good for me! Gotta run tackle shop and get some squid and crabs! It’s damn tough sea fishing here in the wash!

Where do you live Alex? If there are no tope venues local to you, why not think about a guided trip with GG?

Ah right. Like you say, I’ve not heard of shore tope from Kent. I would definitely suggest a guided trip with GG then if you are really keen on catching one. The most economical way to do it is with a mate or a couple of mates - that way you can split the cost of fuel and the trip. Of course, the fish aren’t guaranteed but you can be certain that GG will put every possible effort into helping you get into them.

It’s homemade, GG says to get the frame made at a fabricators and add netting after. Commercial fishing net is good for heavy duty sea nets as it’s robust and doesn’t soak up loads of water like other forms of mesh 👍
