nice to see john parked in the village i live llandegfan ,the lake your looking at ,that your wondering what,s in it ,is called llyn pen park . it was owned by the local water authority , and probably still is , regarding what,s in there ,god knows ,there was rumblings years ago that it had been stocked up with trout , but that,s hearsay , and i doubt that happened , i would suspect there,s got to be pike and perch in there . back when i was kid .people used ice skate on the lake when it was frozen ,back in the days before health and safety :) and strangly my neighbour works at malcom,s bait shop :) .

You need to let those bites develop John even if you're using mono👍 The hounds hit so hard but I don't think they have the bait anywhere near their mouth and they attack it first before committing to actually eating it. I kept getting some cracking bites on Saturday night but I ended up giving the hounds at least another few minutes to take the bait properly and then they would run with the bait and then it's just pick your rod up and reel there's not even any need to strike. Maybe use your clicker mate and set the drag so that the tide can't take line but you can pull it yourself from the spool👍 I reckon if you use your drag and just listen for the clicker running your catch rate will go through the roof. If the lake you were looking at is at the back of Llangefni it could be Llyn Cefni.. stocked trout

You need to wait until you feel the fish in your hand before striking , you missed about 70% of your bites by striking to early!

​@@GKJ-FISHINGWe all have to learn John and there's no harm in that at all. Different fish feed different like a cod will swim and just hoover the bait straight down its throat where I think the sharks have feeding frenzy so they hit the mackerel hard to stun it then bite it what is what we see on our rod tip but then they go away and come back to the fillet a few mints later. Next bite you get let the drag run on your fixed spool then start winding as there's no need to even strike as you wind it sets the hook. If you strike you're more than likely going to pull the bait straight out of its mouth just as its about to run with it👍 Just another bit of advice John and I've only just started using it after 40 years of fishing is use a circle hook as your top hook up to a size 6/0 because you will find the hounds and tope don't usually get hooked on the bottom J hook they take the bait on the top and my hook ups have gone through the roof since I started using a circle or mutsu or octopus as my top hook👍. If you ever need any pictures of rigs or any help mate don't wait just ask bro 🦈🎣
