or the gun goes off if you wreck…. stupid to carry on a bike.. if u have to protect urself on the bike then u don’t have enough throttle … if u stop just get it out of the saddle bag.

@@TinyDragon that’s literally the dumbest logic I’ve ever heard in my life the same thing can happen if you get in a wreck in a car
@TinyDragon2 жыл бұрын
@@lukemyers1432 except in a motorcycle wreck things are hitting pavement-not likely to go off but ask sig sauer if everything always passes a drop test. now as for needing to shoot while riding… that isn’t likely to be needed unless you are a cartoon character , in a terminator movie, or just generally driving thru the hood at night. otherwise put the gun in the saddle bag and holster it when u get off the bike.

I carry using my bike's tank bag. The tank bag has a quick release, which makes it fast and easy to carry with me when stopped at a gas station or restaurant. If I must be some place where carry is absolutely not allowed I can easily move from the tank bag to the rear top box, which is metal and has an automobile grade locking mechanism.

My rule while riding is to always wear an active retention holster. Even a really good kydex holster can still get bumped hard enough to have the gun pop out. Bianchi model 82 is my holster of choice.
@MuppetJoe2 жыл бұрын
I think a huge thing being overlooked on this topic is where you carry your firearm. More specifically if you get into an accident. Taking an impact to that pistol on your hip is not only going to negate any protection you have on but could make for a really bad injury

yes bc these people are so pro gun that they forget common sense to protect themselves. best comment on here was a mounted holster or bag to the bike. when u get off bike put gun in normal hoslter u wear.

That’s literally all I’ve been looking for but I might just get a small tank bag up front at this point then just back on the body once I’m off the bike

absolutely. holsters are critical. even if you have a junky Saturday night special, you must have a trustworthy dependable holster. my main thing would be retention. you gotta have proper retention, especially when on a bike. i dont conceal carry, i open carry. but retention i the most important thing for me. great video

When I'm on the bike, I have a thigh bag holster. Being left handed helps because I don't have to release the throttle in order to draw. 1 handed operation. Holds a spare mag as well as my phone & wallet. No, it's not the most manly thing, but it's better than a fanny pack. Also, it sits about where my drop leg holster for open carry sits. This helps with muscle memory.

None of these options work for someone that wears a full suit while riding. Seems like the best option is mounted somewhere accessible on the bike. When stopped you would move it to your body.

Current ride: 2009 Yamaha FZ6R I appendix carry when I ride. If I crash the gun isn't directly pressing against a bone (cause when you crash hard objects become your enemy). I have tried numerous holster types and locations. Being a fat boy, I do not like the inside waist band. Pocket carry holster for my bodyguard seems to be the best carry for me when I am off the bike in a store. It kinda looks like a large cellphone in your front pocket and the little thumb tab makes it really easy to remove the weapon from the holster. My wife and I ride Can-Am Spyder TR Limited's which has a convenient little glovebox just in front of the handlebar. That seems to be the easiest access for handguns that fit. I carry my Hellcat with OSP and laser in it. Be safe, be smart! Thanks for the vid.

I came here specifically for the saddle bag tip. In Texas I have an LTC but... in Texas an employer can prevent you from carrying while working. They may not prevent you from storing your firearm in your vehicle on their parking lot. The hangups is in the transfer. Persons have been fired for possing the firearm outside the vehicle "he was transferring the gun from his car to another car so his vehicle could be towed for repair" this small thing stood up in court and he was fired and it stood the court case. I carry IWB so getting off the bike and transferring to a saddlebag could be problematic. My goal is to carry In the saddlebag safely for my commute. Thanks

I still haven't found a way to conceal carry on myself and wear proper riding gear. Everyone does short cuts and skip on proper jackets and stuff so they can get to their guns... like in this video, that jacket is almost no protection.

Thoughts on a bike gun, in the Ideal world where $ is no object. 1. Your right hand will probably be occupied with the throttle, so regardless of your dominant hand, learn to shoot left handed at close ranges. (At long ranges maneuvering beats shooting.) Because it is unlikely you will be able to take full proper shooter’s stance, a grip activated laser or red dot sight can be a helpful thing but will probably not work well with anything but summer weight gloves. 2. Get a designated Bike Holster for the Left hip or leg OR on your chest (chest holster, vest, or modified jacket. The twisting involved in under arm cross draw may, in a panic situation, compromise your control when you can least afford it. Know your Conceal and Open Carry laws and act accordingly. 3. Get a gun that has or can mount a Lanyard ring. A designated Bike gun. ADD a lanyard (preferably braided steel core with cover braiding.) Make the Lanyard long enough that you are able to fully extend the gun for shooting, but short enough so the gun doesn't hit the concrete if you drop it. (Yes, you just might abruptly find it necessary to use your left hand to control the bike and not have time to re-holster your gun. If so it would be a good thing for you to be able to later recover the gun just by pulling on the lanyard.) The Lanyard should be adjustable in length for use over various seasonal clothing. If not you may need an assortment of lengths to suite the situation or season. (NOTE: if it can't reach the concrete, it also can't reach your spokes.) 4. As noted in video - large trigger guard - for gloves. NOTE: your best defense is your maneuverability, your breaks, your ability to hit the shoulder and drive against the traffic flow if necessary.

I carry my P365 IWB everywhere I go, but on my bike (03 Honda 919), it digs into me too much, so I prefer to carry my G19 OWB in a BlackHawk holster. It makes me feel better with the two stage retention, and is comfortable as I don't feel it because it sits between my shirt and my jacket. It sticks out the bottom of the jacket a little, but who cares, I'm in an open carry state.

Helpful tips , thanks. I think that using the LEFT hand for draw on a scoot would be preferred. It allows you to maintain speed and braking ability. I had an experience years ago where a pickup pulling a gooseneck cattle trailer tried to grind me into a concrete highway barrier. He pulled up along side of me . He was in the slower outside lane. He then moved towards me in the left lane and continued to try to make me loose control against the barrier. I escaped with inches. I was sandwiched between his dually back truck wheels and the wheels / fender of the trailer. My only evasive maneuver was to wait for an opening in the barrier, veer hard left through the barrier and complete my drive over an overpass in the lane going the opposite direction. Too bad I did not have my CHL at the time. J K

I don't know any state in the union where its legal to shoot someone for negligently merging into you. Plus in your scenario, removing one hand off your bars to draw a weapon, aim, and shoot tells me you had enough time to drop a gear and disappear. During the operation of a motorcycle, there is little to no reason to pull your gun and attempt to shoot someone. Unless you're practicing riding, drawing, and shooting on the range (which I know you won't) its a danger to everyone else on the road with you and a danger to you because you sacrificed control of the motorcycle for a poorly aimed shot with a firearm. I hate to say it but we may think we're John Wick in our heads, but in reality we are not.

Yes, I agree with you Mike. Thanks for your perspective. I would have put myself in jeopardy of being squashed by an uncontrolled vehicle with a maniac corpse at the wheel. That driver and his buddy were probably playing CHICKEN with me and had some hidden bias against bikers. He would have been guilty of vehicular homicide, and I would be 6 feet under. He would get parole in 5 years and I would be gone FOREVER. No winner either way. Be safe to you and fellow riders. J K

@@mikelangelo2020, Although it may not be legal, it should be, because it's still self defense, if people are using their vehicles as weapons on you. Some may not have the option to get out, where a gun could save their lives, in a quick moment. That should be a last resort, of course.
