Will succulents do well in a vivarium that has UV lighting? I want to make a bio-active vivarium for my snake, it needs a dry desert like environment, and the lighting will not be on all day.
@JamesThomas-qd7hp8 жыл бұрын
it should. if you are using heat lamps, it may be better to use cacti though. The heat lamps can cook the softer succulents and since cacti skin is tougher, the heat may not bother them too much.

I love succulents! They are my favourite type of plant! But I always kill them. 😭 I recently bought a "donkey tail burrito" and want to plant it in a hanging planter. However that means I wouldn't be able to plant it in a draining pot.
@pauldelgadillo18277 жыл бұрын
Did you see Cindy put the wire mesh at the bottom of the pot? My grandparents had huge donkey tails in their patio garden and yes, after their once a week good watering, here in Los Angeles, during a hot summer day, you had to stand away as the hanging pots did leak the water.

@paulasmits8 жыл бұрын
how do I get rid of those pesky soil born knats when I water? (besides watering less lol) thx Paula
@gardenanswer8 жыл бұрын
+paulasmits Well watering less is a good place to start. ;) But, you can do a couple other things. First, I would replace the top few inches of soil and replace it with fresh. This will help get rid of some the of the eggs. Next, you can get an indoor insect spray to spray the plant and soil down with (I like Espoma Organic Insect Killer). There are also sticky traps you can get to put around the area you have them that will help catch the adults. Hope that helps! :) ~Laura

My succulents leaves are drooping and curling into the soil, please help
@lesliethomas11997 жыл бұрын
Sounds like maybe they were overwatered. Leaves shrivel when underwater and turn translucent and droopy when overwatered. Try using a moisture meter to check the soil or just stick your finger in the soil. You can try removing the droopy leaves and hopefully the plant will dry out and recover :) Good luck!
