I’m sooooooo happy you did this video because I’m TIRED of folks coming on here using poor technique, acting like using water on your hair is the devil, and then telling everyone with type 4 hair that they can’t do something. I send people to you a lot because you always have a positive perspective. And your wash n gos are always gorgeous 💜💜💜

😂😂😂😂 and they are LOUD and WRONG but I was humbled to realize Im not good at what it takes to style my hair the way they do all the time. Naturals don't realize there are different camps of natural hair care to get you where you want to be.

my tip is: if you come from twists etc the hair does not have the mois ture level yet for wash n go. To help it along do a mid-week cowash + wash n go, nothing fancy. it will take the pressure off from trying to achieve perfection the 1st time around. Gives you a chance to learn your hair, the products etc.

Great tips as always. I went a month with only finger detangling and my clumping and overall look was at its best. And periodically doing a wash day where you wash, deep condition and don’t put any styling products (not even a leave in) and you allow your hair to air dry in the comfort of your home( or out and about for all to see and appreciate) allows you to know EXACTLY what your true curl patternS are and how YOUR hair naturally wants to “BE”. Really look at it. Feel it. Celebrate it! All the products and techniques and tools are great to achieve a certain look, but don’t be mad at your hair if it’s just not feeling like being that on a given day. Love HER anyway. Just the way she is. ❤️

Great idea! Sometimes, leaving my hair as is is all I want to do lol Should we expect a lot of knots?

soyness I didn’t have a lot of knots because I finger detangled and the next day I re-wet and moisturized it. I got loads of compliments which was unexpected but appreciated. Try it!!😃

Great video. Those with silky textures (regardless of curl type) can use the brush but it's important to know if the brush ain't doing it for you then don't do it. Bottom line if the brush isn't aiding clumping then don't use it. And you're right it will add shrinkage and not last as long. I agree anyone and everyone can do a wash and go after learning what's best for their particular hair.

Lol I enjoyed this video. As a type 4- I can relate! After being natural for yeaaars- I’m finally comfortable in my hair to rock a wash n go with confidence. I made all these mistakes 😣. I will state that the BEST piece of advice for type 4 wash n go’s is water. Your hair should be drenching wet before putting your leave in then lock the kinks in place by shingling with really good gel.

Great tips! I've been natural for almost 5 years and only do Wash and Go's. One thing I learned the hard way was: DO NOT touch your hair until it's completely dry! I usually air-dry, but will blow-dry/diffuse if I'm pressed for time. Tfs 💜

Oof! I did my first wash and go live on my channel and i tried a little to use a denman brush at subscriber recommend lol i put it away after 2 seconds, the thing was ripping out my hair. It wasn’t accomplishing anything at all. One of my subscribers sent me this video, thank you for making it! Turns out I’m a 4b/4c curl pattern and my hair is really dense and shrinks a ton. It wasn’t a huge success lol but this is my new journey 😎

This is a great video! You are so right about elasticity. My hair is trained for twistouts so I am one of those people that tried wash n go then gave up due to disappointing results. You explained this so well and I am going to give wash n go a try on my high porosity hair. I'd like to restore elasticity to my hair. Thanks again!

Let them know! You can do any style you want. It's all about embracing your own texture. Also use a gel with some hold. My hair lasts days and I don't have that many ssks. Also you can stretch your wash n go if you don't like shrinkage. Also you can cowash midweek and redo the wash n go if dry or frizzy

I’m not 4B/4C, but I agree with that denman brush and raking through your hair once you’ve started applying product. I’m 3C/4A, but for wash n gos specifically, once i detangle before deep conditioning, that’s it. No more tools because once I deep condition, the curls are already setting. Everything else I do is really to keep the frizz at bay during the drying process. I always ask in videos where I see type 4 naturals using a denman especially, why they are detangling and setting their wash n go with it. Aside from pulling out the hair, it is literally creating shrinkage and removing product. Great video and great tips!
@camerontsc
@camerontsc 2 жыл бұрын
I am 3c/4a as well and I use a denman brush on the ends sometimes. I don’t mind the shrinkage because it fluffs up the curls. But I do agree that the brush generally makes my hair frizzy which is why I can’t use it on anything more than the ends. My stylist encouraged me to use a detangling brush to distribute the products more evenly through my hair. But after doing that she goes through and shingles my hair. That takes a lot of time!

Great tips ! Especially for someone who starts to tackle the wash & go look...once they start to get better I really like to apply my leave-in on wet hair and let it soak for 15-30 min and then apply the gel. I just discovered this tip this year and I'd like to try it with one of my favourite wash & go combos from you ( ouidad the whipped curls daily conditioner +UFD gel ) On a side note, the wet cat had me weak by the way and you said "See" maybe 2 times and I just thought of Robin Thede in "A black lady sketch show" when she plays Dr. Hadassah Olayinka Ali- Youngman.. I was just saying "see, see in my head haha". Hopefully you've seen that sketch

My shower is not a good space for me to do my hair in but I put a plastic cap on my head before I get out to keep it wet. Should I be applying more water after that? Or do I just need to get a new shower head to do it in the shower? I just started doing my natural hair and I’m still shocked that I see so many of you doing your hair in the shower. I feel like I’ll be making a mess, plus idk that I can do any style without a mirror yet lol.

You can do still do your wash and gos out the shower. Just put your leave in -in the shower first before you step out so your hair doesnt dry out so fast while you put in your styler. I do out the shower wash n gos all the time and my hair is thriving. Its just quicker to style hair in the shower and easier for beginners but its all preference. I personally hate being in the shower longer then 20 minutes so I style my hair outside the shower. It takes longer but my coil definition is popping and my hair is thriving 🥰
