#2 is DISGUSTING! Why would someone write crap like that!?! Now, yes, as I mentioned in the chat there’s a Korn song titled “Daddy” that is like those songs from the #2 group. The difference between songs from #2 and Daddy by Korn is that Daddy is based on the real life story of Korn’s lead singer Johnathon Davis being molested by a babysitter as a kid, and when he tried to tell his parents they didn’t believe him and thought he was joking. It’s a very tragic song especially at the end when the singing stops and poor Johnathon has a mental breakdown screaming about how this woman ruined his life. Thankfully though the woman is dead so she can’t harm any other boys like she did to Johnathon.

So, writing dark/violent lyrics isn't inherently bad. However, a lot of bands that do so, are confined to their own subgenres, and have significantly better written lyrics and instrumentals. Having listened to Psychosexual after this video, I can confidently say that all they are is out to shock the average person with shit, violent lyrics. Nothing about them or their stuff screams talent in the slightest. They should be ashamed of their own shit.
@Khenfu_Cake4 жыл бұрын
@@KGPromiseGaming Exactly. You can write songs about horrible topics like murder or molestation without it necessarily being a terrible thing. Many bands have and some even quite well. It's really about how you present and convey the song itself and thus the intented meaning behind it. Psychosexual's songs just come off as something an edgy 13 year old would write..
@cassandraspoelhof37524 жыл бұрын
@@Khenfu_Cake Right. Rock and even country have tackled some dark subject matter and it doesn’t bother me just so long as the song is written well. One of my favorite songs of all time is “Alyssa Lies” by Jason Michael Carroll. That song took three years for him to write because he wanted the song to be perfect. He would often end up with migraines when trying to write the song because it’s a song about his daughter having a friend named Alyssa who’s being physically abused and is lying to hide the truth. It’s a tragic song especially because poor Alyssa ends up dying, but it’s such a beautiful song as well. There’s also the song “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” by Alan Jackson that is about 9/11. It’s a great song and for the past 3 years I’ve made sure to listen to that song at least once on 9/11.

What’s even worse about Psychosexual (aside from that god awful band name) is that, only being able to play 4 chords with bad vocals is something punk bands have been doing for 35 years and there’s a ton of punk bands who’ve put out incredible records pretty much doing just that. On top of that, if they’re gonna go out there and try to do the whole porno-shock-r@pe-rock thing, there’s literally nothing new they could bring to that table that could actually “shock” people. There’s nothing they’re singing about that hasn’t already been done by countless pornogrind, grindcore, and slam bands. There’s no way they’re going to get up on stage and do anything anywhere near as shocking as the things GG Allin did onstage. Like, how would they, or anyone for that matter, top that? What, enter the stage by driving a bulldozer through the back wall of the venue almost bringing the building down and putting the lives of the audience in very real danger? Tough shit, THAT’S already been done. Even just trying to be a “shock-rock” band in 2020, decades after the whole PMRC thing, and after guys like Marilyn Manson and Eminem (who really were the last guys to have people thinking music could be “dangerous” in any way), it just makes you look like a child who just learned what cussing was and then tried to make it their personality.

that's the comparison I drew, too. it takes genuine talent, care, and *lots* of wordplay to write lyrics with the same caliber as Till Lindemann (and also five other people giving equally-weighted critique but that's beside the point). He's one of my favorite lyricists (and poets!) out there, underrated (imo) only because he writes primarily in his native tongue. *if* anyone out there is going to be the English equivalent of Till, they better be able to pull off some seriously dazzling linguistic gymnastics. and then make sure it still fits the flow of the song!

@@flyingbodysymphony plus Till is just a really lovable guy on his own, even with the dark nature of his writing. You can’t make lyrics that relate to these dark and disgusting topics when you yourself see nothing wrong with it. Out of all other bands I can't really think of one that would handle it so clumsily, but here we are.) 3. Psychosexual - Torch the faith (everyone knows this thing is awful and I would prefer not to talk about it. It doesn't deserve the attention.) 2. Six Feet Under - Nightmares of the decomposed (If 2020 created an album, this would be it. This is just sad, especially since this band does have talent. The problem here would mostly be the vocals and lyrics, but the instrumentals aren't really that special either, which alone wouldn't land them on here. The vocals are hilariously bad at best, and astonishing at worst.) 1. Squealing pig - E (Nightmares of the decomposed deserves to have a second spot on the list. The ridiculous squealing on several tracks of the album makes it seem like they're just waiting for this to become a meme the same way Doris was a few years ago. Sure it's kind of funny, but in the same way Angelic 2 the core was, which is honestly better than this. NotD gets number 1 and 2 this year.) Dishonorable mentions: Emmure - Hindsight, 5FDP - F8, Trapt - Shadow Work. As for albums that aren't rock/metal, G-Eazy and Meghan Trainor would probably make the list, and Sam Hunt's Southside is even worse than NotD.

The guy can beat the hell out of drums but he can’t write or sing for shit. Hell even the covers ep he released was painful to listen to and he had help with Jason Hook and actually decently written songs. I get that Psychosexual isn’t supposed to be taken seriously but Jesus Christ, the man should’ve stayed out of music when he left ffdp.

Well Thank God number 2 was never a hit album because there would be regret. Maybe not today, Maybe not next year, but there would've been regret somewhere down the line. Imagine being so bad that even Five Finger Death Punch looks down on you.

It sounds like this album would be perfect for a “Regretting The Past” episode.

I find these videos interesting because I purposely only listen to albums I like so I can’t even think of a bad album this year. All the albums I purchased were all at least just good (like Palaye Royals) or freaking awesome (like Devilskin). So this video let’s me know what to continue to avoid!

I never liked "Theory" or "Theory of a Dead Man" (yes, I know they are the same band). I thought they were trying too hard to sound like freakin' Nickelback (and with Bad Girlfriend, they succeeded! ICK!!!). Not a good band. I admire your bravery for sitting through this sh*t just to bring us a list!

At least Bad Girlfriend has a catchy melodic hook. Practically everything from Wake Up Call and Say Nothing was a tedious slog.

Just be thankful you haven't been subjected to Six Feet Under's newest album, "Nightmares Of The Decomposed" this year. It is to death metal albums what Ride To Hell: Retribution is to videogames. Chris Barnes' voice is GONE. There are no riffs. The album is utter garbage.
@amandusbjorklund79353 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't exactly say that there are no riffs on it. Coming from a guitarist's perspective, the riffs are so poorly constructed that it's shocking. It's hard to believe that that album has a former Cannibal Corpse guitarist playing on it.

5 Finger Death Punch. Best metal band name imaginable, wasted on ArmyCore.
@princealigorna74684 жыл бұрын
Emmure already sounded generic compared to other deathcore and metalcore bands when they debuted. They sound like a fucking relic now as the scene keeps evolving and passing them by. Look at the innovations of say Whitechapel in recent years, first embracing their inner Lamb of God and discovering these beastly grooves, then showing how to do clean vocals in deathcore without it sounding weak. Or Fit For An Autopsy discovering some serious melody and also harmoniously incorporating clean vocals. Or the explosion of slamcore thanks to the popularity of Within Destruction. Or the continued development of blackened deathcore with the new Carnifex album or the last Veils of Pnath (which is basically just a straight black metal album, and a damn good one). Or the development of the technical deathcore scene spearheaded by Cognitive and Krosis. All these bands are looking to the future of the scene and trying to keep it relevant for a new decade. And then there's Emmure, still playing like it's 2009, stuck with a leader that has no interest in changing things up because he's a lazy little shit, and stuck with a fan base that eats that shit up like like cheerios that makes it impossible to change even if Frankie did want to.

I've been a fan of AA since Robby Starbucks final episode video had less then 30k views and i blame "mainstream"/fm music for their change in music style. Ive had it out with local radio dj's about talking about and promoting shows for bands they will never play on air. They almost always say its because most who listen wouldnt like the music or their bosses wont let them. So heavier bands have to change their styles to remain relevant enough to get played on the radio or be recognized by music award shows. Its so disappointing
