Iam almost convinced the yatuja inner monolog ( in the movies at least, why did Celtic pause before trying to kill grid?, what was the jungle Hunter thinking when he had Dutch Cornered and he decided to analyze the spikes in the tree?, what was the City Hunter thinking when Harrigan was down in front of them in their final battle inside the predator ship?) and that's why they get killed especially in the comics, they have died on some real bs reasons but most of the time that's mainly cause the main non predator characters can't die( story reasons) , ie batman vs predator

Falconer wasn’t toying with his prey, he was being honorable. If you look into the code that the predators follow, one of the things says that if the prey demands close combat then you will not use ranged weapons such as a plasma caster

Come to think of it I am surprised you didn't add The fugitive predator from the 2018 movie, considering at the start of the film he lost most of his equipment, was immediately defeated by our dimwitted protagonist, and when he faced against the evolved predator he couldn't hit an 11 ft tall Target with his plasma projector or fight smartly like scar did in the first AVP film. Agreed, I think modern writers are just bad at creating interesting stories that do the original lore justice. Take Alien for example, an awesome horror movie that actually evoked terror, compared to alien covenant which is just a philosophical jerk off with some alien creatures killing people. I don't think it is hard to see why people are not happy when 7ft+ tall aliens with more advanced tech that train their whole lives to be the best hunters against dangerous aliens lose to a couple soldiers smh

Unfortunately I think a lot of it has to do with self-insert fanfiction, not just in the movies but also in the comics and novels, by people who could care less about how Iconic the alien and predator creatures are, but rather just to boost their own inflated egos. You mentioned the original alien, where the creature was this lovecraftian like entity that seemed to materialize from the very shadows to stalk and kill its prey, and the manner in which Ripley defeated it at the end seemed very logical and feasible, since she couldn't match it hand to hand so she had to outsmart it. And yet Ridley scott, who directed that masterpiece, instead with Prometheus and alien covenant appeals to his own ego and tries to make blade runner sequels which prioritize the Android's thinking and since I suspect he's been jealous of people's adoration for Cameron's sequel aliens, he's been trying to undo all that established lore and even redcon the alien queen. The alien is now just a dumb mindless insect, a far cry from its earlier portrayals. It just shows you like you say how bad the writing has gotten even under the very people who once helmed these iconic franchises.

@@kaijuking3216 Exactly. Its a shame, and I respect Sigourney Weaver's choice to stay out of future productions. These days most cinema seems to be attempting to recreate what Marvel achieved, an easy formula for guaranteed success with minimal innovative writing. Horror movies are mostly jump scare fests riding off of the success of a franchise name and very few movies deviate from what has worked in the past. I dont think the failure of Predator and even Alien movies is out of ignorance or lack of capability, as you said, more so the ego of writers and the desire for franchises rather than experimenting with new ideas and not being afraid of episodic plots that don't need a sequel.

@@User-kq3od To further add on the ego point, I bought the making of the predator 2018 book which was $50 but I got it at a heavily discounted price and with my membership card I got it for about $10, I bought it before the movie came out and in the book Shane black talks about how the original predators characters were not unique or interesting and how his team the loonies were far superior in every way and better characters you actually cared about, and I remember reading a passage by Olivia Munn proudly boasting that she wasn't just a token love interest. No, instead she plays the ditzy scientist who shot herself in her own foot with a tranquilizer on top of a moving vehicle, priceless. As for the loonies, can anyone even name the whole group? Was there one of the loonies that you actually cared about and could compare to the original team of predator? And after the movie came out and we the fans all tore it apart, Fred deckard who was the writer and you may remember the director of Robocop 3, one of the worst movies ever made that destroyed the franchise, he said that he and Shane had brilliant ideas but that the fans were just too rigid and inflexible when it came to new ideas. On top of everything it's our fault that we just didn't get that the predator 2018 was a masterpiece, that completely destroyed 30 years worth of lore and mythology.

Everyones performance felt wooden and so out of tone for the events taking place. And I am sick of movies pretending like autism is a super power that allows a boy to translate alien languages that trained linguists couldnt decipher over decades. There was so much wrong with that movie, especially with them rewriting the whole predator lore. People were taking apart the script for that movie when it was leaked praying that it was fake news. I believe the big underlying issue is that writers have lost what made the first predator special and decided to follow the formula for generic movie monsters. The first predator was an acrobatic ninja that was a mysterious ghost that destroyed and humiliated our favorite 80s action figure heroes. Now writers have reduced the creature as merely a scaly gorilla with a few knives and a laser. I'm especially unsatisfied with the "bigger is better" trend in the direction of the sequel predator movies. Making the predator is redundant considering it is already significantly stronger than a human with at a peak physique. I hope that the new Prey movie brings the predator back to it's prime and add a pleasant surprise to the mythos that makes it deadlier (not necessarily stronger)

Seeing the prey trailer makes this worse. A feral predator which is described as a predator that is smaller than the others of his race was able to literally shoulder press an entire bear over his head after single hit “one tap” killing the bear. I still think chopper is the second worst besides primal. He literally killed a dude that drives a snow plow then gets killed instantly.

Great list as always. I think one predator that definetly needs a dishonorable mention would be the unnamed Youngblood Predator who attacked Rookie in the AVP3 video game. I get Rookie was a good soldier who survived multiple Xeno infested areas but this Predator had every advantage and still lost. He failed to sneak attack Rookie both with a surprise Plasma Caster shot and by literally sneaking up on him at the door, and then failed to kill him in the arena where he had the height advantage, cloaking in a maze like area where it was already hard to see especially for a human, and he was using his plasma Caster throughout the battle where he already had the advantage which to me is dishonorable. At least the other Yautja who fought off 6 had the excuse of being outnumbered and Wolf didn't use his Caster unless 6 went out of range. All this Predator did was shoot down a ship, kill a nameless marine, take some cheap shots then run until he got beaten.

Berserker Predator was toying with Royce instead of finishing off. He raised his wrist blade and Waited a bit too soon, Before being shot. He also was slow to turn around and React to Royce's counter attack which Ultimately got Berserker killed. If he didn't take his time he would have killed Royce within a second.

I would have added Ta‘roga and Shriek. Not only were they arrogant, but made some bad mistakes when they stalked Jarl‘s men. In the end they were slain by basically zombies. As for Chopper I can’t help but thinking that he was a young blood after all. His quick death just underlined how deathly the Xenos actually are even to natural born killing machines like the Yautja. Lastly for Falconer and Tracker…I actually like „Predators“. I just think the Yautja have way to less screentime. A group of bad bloods like them could make for an awesome plot. There was just not enough time to properly introduce them. I found it pretty cool, that Falconer showed at least a little bit of moral at the end. Anyway, thanks for the video again. Quicksand is how the Predator died at Sherlock Holmes versus The Predator and yeah the Predators have had some wack-ass and embarrassing deaths throughout the comics and the movies but again that's the power of the pen because they can't have the Predator kill some of the other main characters, and I believe that inner monologuing is why lot of their predators die because they do a lot of pausing, waiting and thinking before they do something and that's usually what leads to them dying

I always love your videos and I always look forward to your videos. Especially the Rogues Gallery ones. As a marvel fan they’re the one I look forward the most. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy your other rogues galleries videos about other characters. When it comes to your marvel rogues gallery videos with me being a big marvel fan I often can predict which rogues will be on the list. One good example is that Doctor Doom, Galactus, Namor, Super-Skrull and Mole Man would be among the villains people would expect to show up. For daredevil it would be Bullseye, Kingpin, The Hand, Elektra and Punisher but some have less obvious ones like Iron Man and Captain America. That I mean is that people would consider their rogues galleries small if they only knew marvel skin deep but bigger marvel fans know that both have more rogues than those people expect. I think all the predators aboard the ship that carried the dead predator from AvP should be on the list. I mean, the lot of them got fucked by a single predalien that they brought on board, and one of them shot their should canon (and missed) inside the ship...

A year late but I want to clarify this. The Predalien was not inside the mothership. The ship that crashes on earth is a scout ship that separates itself from the main ship in a deleted scene. We don't know how many Yautjas there were inside this scout ship but we saw 2 carrying facehuggers, a third one polishing trophies and a fourth one who was the commander. We only saw the Predalien killing the Yautja who was polishing the trophies and he did this because he caught him off guard. The rest of Yautjas were either killed/badly damaged when the ship crashed and they were finished off by the Predalien.

I'm offended by the writers of some of these Predator stories for showing little of no respect to the Predator species and forgetting that in almost all locations and against damn near every species they hunt Predators are the Apex Predator in their story. But some are written to be idiots "some it's stupidity others arrogance" and I know it's as a way for humans to have a chance but it doesn't have to be done in a way that makes all Predators look bad and stupid instead of just the one. Well, here's my top 5 worst Predators: 5) Strange Roux Predator - only number 5, because the story itself is not to be taken seriously. 4) Invaders from the Fourth Dimension Predator - okay, this is also mostly a comedic story, but really, the Predator being unable to defeat a 11-year old boy?! This is just some bs! 3) All the 3 "Super" Predators from Predators 2010 - like you said, they just pale in comparison to original big bad. Especially when these Predators were meant to be superior than classics, yet they struugle to defeat an unorganised group of individuals, while Jungle Hunter easily destroyed 2 elite army squads. It's especially laughable when Mr. Black at his prime struggled to beat an inferior and exausted Crucified Predator. So, yeah, not so super after all. 2) Fugitive Predator - by the looks at every his action it seems that he intentionally tries to fail the mission on saving humanity or just makes borderline illogical things. You are on a rescue mission to save humans and running out of time? Why not waste it on slaughtering some human nearby and toy with his commrades?! You are angry at people holding you prisoner and slaughter everyone on sight? Then why the heck didn't you kill that female? Or you calmed down? Then why not taking her to explain that you are not an actual enemy before it's too late? Nah, that would be too easy, won't it?! And, finally, why not taking your Iron Man suit with you in the first place? Could've saved you a lot of trouble of getting it to humans and fending off the Upgrade! So, in the end, that dumb nuts Predator made everything possible for humans to not get his gift. And if we count Hunting Grounds lore where that gift was unable to work for more than few seconds, then, congratulations, he achieved his goal! 1) That one Predator from the beginning of AvP Requiem - his actions is just next level of dumb, Fugitive in comparisson is a Noble Prise genius. Like, first, he and the rest of the crew somehow during the whole flight to Saturn and back failed to notice that there is something wrong with the corpse on a pedestal right under their noses. Then, when he finally noticed the Predalien, why exactly he thought that it was a good idea to shoot around with AN ENERGY WEAPON THAT CAN AND WILL DAMACE YOUR SPACECRAFT?! In the result, the ship crashlanded, the crew is dead and the cargo is on the loose. And it's all the handywork of that Predator dumbass! I only hope, that there is an afterlife in this franchise, so the souls of that idiot's dead comrades eternally curse him to the oblivion.

Falconer died an honorable death. Even tho I loved him,I felt Scar was not honorable by not nuking the whole place and everyone in it when he was impregnated by a face hugger. He knew what happened. Maybe they have skills on board the mothership to remove xenomorphs but the shame of being impregnated in the first place would be worse then the death. Maybe he would of been exiled or something but in the end he sealed the crews fate. Without the gadgets the predators are inferior to men tho. I don’t know why they thought we would need a Predator killer suit. Even women and children can best a Predator 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think the people who wrote these characters forgot the point of the original movie and just think the predators should be killed in some way. Not that they are the greatest hunter. Stories have to have an ending and that ending is the predator dying.

I agree with everything other then Primal spot, when humans hunted bears they did it in groups and had it all planned out, not just one guy going in thinking he could take a bear on their own with a spear and maybe a bow and arrow.

Bears do not usually attack elk. the main ones that attack out the are actually wolves bears are more likely to steal the kill though. However if they get very hungry they can. Personally though I've never seen a bear attack a full grown elk.

Primal must be the physically weakest of the predators, as even young bloods and slam Alien queens onto the ground and casually hunt T-rexes. I wouldn't be surprise if even a xenomorph can rip his head off.

I think most of these examples are of Predators that are intentionally written as being not particularly great , think it's a fun idea, and it brings some more dimension to them. I think the three from Predators are again written intentionally to be weak, they rely too much on technology and numbers and the fact that they have a distinct look from other Predators was used to distinguish them

Ok soo you didnt pay attention at all during the movie. The dude managed to turn a trap specifically designed for him onto his trappers. By the time he and Harrigan went truly 1v1 on the ship, he: 1) was covered in liquid nitrogen (which wouldve been deadly for a human, and likely almost as bad for a Pred, considering they naturally need hot climate) 2) took multiple shotgun slugs straight to the torso 3) had his arm cut off 4) was thrown off a building And even, with all this, he was still absolutely whooping Harrigans ass on the ship, until the latter feigned defeat and managed to land a surprise attack. It took the combined efforts of Harrigan, Keyes, the team and a lot of unlucky cirumstances for the City Hunter to finally go down.

Falconer had the coolest helmet and Chopper had awesome arm blades. I loved how long they were. Unfortunately I agree with you, they both sucked. Luckily AVP isn't canon. Predators... well. Maybe we can just say that they sucked in general. Predator is one of the few movie monsters where most fans root for the monster. Hopefully they will make a movie where the Predator is the protagonist for a change and actually lives at the end.

I'd probably put the Predator from Prey on that list as well. Getting diced up in melee combat by a wounded & malnourished Comanche brave (that he should have been able to easily overpower/outmaneuver) and then losing/being killed to a teenaged girl who was just starting to learn how to hunt (at best only killing rabbits and small game before encountering him).

I'm biased but people saying Celtic should be on here are wrong. He's clearly a good hunter and dominated the fight against the "hero" xeno. He lost based on a technicality which I still believe is just because the author is an alien fanboy. Terrible decision killing him off early
