Fun fact: In 2006, Serbia and Montenegro (as only country in history) were able to vote in the semifinal and the final despite their non-participation due to a scandal in the selection process which resulted in Macedonia entering the final instead of Poland. That was also the best placement of Macedonia in history.

Not anymore, *North* Macedonia reached the top 10 by finishing 7th place this year with the masterpiece "Proud" by Tamara (the one who once represent FYR Macedonia back in 2008 contest), become the best North Macedonian result to this date!

As an ABRSM candidate, I think that the 100 pass mark can also be used for SF under the new system. Only two songs qualified with fewer than 100 points in the semi. So, if you get fewer than 100 points, you are almost a guaranteed NQ. Only six NQ entries obtained above 100 points, out of 77 (7.8%). This means that if you get more than 100 points, you have a good chance of qualifying. In my ideal SF votings, there is not a single song which qualified from an SF with less than 100 points, while I will set the 10th place to score between 100 and 110.

Ireland 2006 and Moldova 2007 barely qualified then went on to place top 10 in the final. Even better Latvia 2005 barley qualified and then got 5th place in the final. It just shows how bad the 2004-2007 system was
