Top 50 Eurovision Songs Most Successful in Televoting (1998-2017)

It's a list made of 50 Eurovision songs most successful in televoting according to a percentage of available points. Every song's amount of televoting points was divided by maximum possible score which the song could be awarded by televoting.
The video includes songs which competed in the finals from 1998 to 2017 excluding 2002 and 2013. If the rules of the contest make juries an exception due to an invalidity of the televoting, then these jury points are accounted. In 2001, when 100% jury and 50/50 voting systems were optional, most countries went for 100% televoting. That's why this year was included. In 2002, a lot more countries adopted the 50/50 system and the split results weren't released. In 2013, split average rankings were published instead of split points, so televoting points are not available.
In case of a tie current rules of Eurovision are applied. The one who gets the highest percentage of the countries who awarded points wins. If there is still a tie, it is counted how many sets of maximum points in relation to the number of countries each country received, etc.

This is why I don't like when people say Eurovision is all geopolitics. Juries are but not televoters. These results clearly show that televoters aren't all biased and if a song deserves to have a good results then it'll have a good one. Love of music goes beyond politics. I'm proud of Europe.

Televoting is more trustable, because the people who watch esc and vote are interested in music a lot as much as jury members in general. Fanatic votes are limmited on televoting, but it is just opposite on jury's voting. Also, Jury consists of only e few persons. Affecting a few persons' thoughts is easier than affecting many many people's thoughts as we see by living in esc.

Great top 3, Il Volo were well screwed by the juries. They accepted the result with such class, just commenting on how happy they were to be the public favourite and that was all that mattered. Most people were completely unaware of the detailed results and that is a pity, the voting system that started in 2016 is much fairer and clear for the public to see what songs are pushed/punished by the jury or televote. I just hope that the quality juries improve because this year was clear how they can be more biased and prone to reward neighbours that the public vote. Once that happens i believe we have probably the fairest system of voting.

This will not happen ever and you know, my country was not only snubbed by most countries but also boooed as ef when we got points from Cyprus. This was not the case when Romania got points from Moldova or Sweden from Denmark, so that's fine, we should all do our thing, we are there and you will see us and get angry if you want :) Fun fact, the televoters voted us 14th while the jury flopped us. Juries don't HAVE to vote the same as televoters. You know what is wrong? That televoters can vote 20 times the same. And that some nations have so much diaspora that they can influence the voting a lot. I'm very happy that juries can neutralize these effects of the televoting. Long live the juries!

20 calls rule is bullshit yes. Same goes with juries. Both are EBU's fault because they only care about money. You know juries vote with strategy right? They can sink any entry ranking it dead last.. which is ridiculous. At the end of the day, the winner is voted by ALL countries (not only diaspora). This is a game and there's a thing called "Democracy" and we need to respect that. Do think Sweden or Australia were better than Belgium, Moldova or Italy this year? Or France being 19th and Hungary 17th? That's beyond ridiculous. In the televote there's room for everything, with juries not. They kill the human/diversity element of this contest.

Diasporas/Bloc voting ends after 3-4 countries. Still some good points left on the scoreboard. For example Norway's Fairytale has bloc votes from Nordic & Baltic nations but they're nothing to do with Balkan's or further southeast (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Israel, Cyprus). They got 5-6 from them and won. Another example on my country's winner year 2003. Turkey got Germany, Netherlands etc. votes from their citizens. Russia got their votes from Baltic nations and Belgium got Western votes. But Turkey got Slovenia's 10 point while Russia got 12 from there. There's no Russians/Turkish people to votes that much to affect Slovenia's votes. People likes and votes for songs, too. Juries take Italy's and Russia's victories. I also remark that i support Australia when Russia got public votes but juries gave win to the Ukraine.

Never ever let the juries (with their political views) choose any of the songs here. This competition is for people and, moreover, is not for the politicians. I haven't watched all the years, but quite a lot. 2016 was the most political one, when the juries (after political instructions) made a bloody battle between Russia and Ukraine. But the voting of people proved who was the real winner. How can Russia can have 12 points from Ukrainian people and 0 from the juries? Are they kidding? Sergey Lazarev was the real 2016 winner.

Let me explain something for you taking up 99% of the comment section: 1. This video is *NOT* based off personal preference. 2. Lena won. She *won*. 10 years ago. Just let it go already. 3. maNga isn't on this list because they didn't get a high enough percentage od televotes to be 4. This video was based off *TELEVOTING*. Not the combined results that are official, but the 50% that consists of televoters, that voted at home. 5. This rank is based off of what percentage of possible points a country got in *televoting*. If a song gets 366 out of 468 points like Il Volo, that's 78%. The possible points are determined by how many countries are voting. In 2011, when 43 countries participated, you could get (maximally) 504 points. Because, the maximum a country could give to you individually is 12 points. If all the countries in 2011 gave another country 12 points, that would mean said country would get 42 times 12 points. Which is 504. For example because Ell&Nikki received 223 points from the televoting out of a maximum 504, that is 44%. 6. Based on the previous comment, I can now explain this too: two or more countries *CAN* get over 50% of possible points. It doesn't mean every country's score is added up to a 100%, just thst they received over 50% of the maximum points. In 2015, where the maximum was 468, Sweden, Russia and Italy all surpassed the 50% which was 234. 7. Televoting results are diffeerent than the jury results and those overall results. Mans won 2015, but he was 3rd with the televoters. Jamala won 2016, but she was 2nd with the televoters. Il Volo was 3rd in 2015, but 1st with the televote and 6th with the juries. 8. I also don't get why everyone's saying Sergey was 2nd in 2016. He was 3rd, Australia was 2nd. If you wanna accuse someone of doing something wrong, at least do your research.

I think it shows how many percent of whole points pool is collected thanks to televoting. If that's a thing then they dont have to be first in televoting since other countries could get more televotes and way more points from judges

If a country gets 12 points from all countries they will get 492 points. At the same time a country can get 10 points from all countries getting total 410 points for the same year (492 and 410 for 2 places can happen at the same time) Hope i could explain myself

this is really later on, but the reason its like that is because in total each country could get at maximum 468 points (Assuming they get all 12 points) 468 only takes into account the maximum and not smaller amounts, so Heroes and Grande Amore were both able to score high with televote because they received votes other than 12 points as well. Theoretically, a country could get 468 if they got all 12s, but if the country who got all 10s was next, they would have 390 points, and the country who got all 8s would have 312, etc down the list. I hope this helped explain :)

That's surprising - I thought that Portugal of 2017 would have been in first place. He had soooo many points. XD As a Swede, I still say that Italy was the real winner of 2015 (insert a dramatically crying face here). People were _so_ pissed off when it came to light how slighted they were by the juries. Then it happened again in 2016 (although I thought Russia was very generic, it was really popular). Even though Portugal were far from my favorite this year, I'm glad that at least Portugal was #1 with both groups this time.
