The Hollies had a massive Hit with " The Air That I Breathe" in 1974. It is one of many songs Albert Hammond wrote, which other people made into huge Hits. When it comes to song writers, Albert Hammond is a God.

BTO blew my mind with their catchy, tuneful Hard Rock. Check out "Blue Moanin'" and "Giving it all Away" 1. "Not Fragile" C.F. Turner Turner 4:06 2. "Rock Is My Life, and This Is My Song" Randy Bachman Randy Bachman 5:00 3. "Roll on Down the Highway" Turner, Rob Bachman Turner 3:58 4. "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" Randy Bachman Randy Bachman 3:54 5. "Free Wheelin'" Blair Thornton instrumental 3:45 6. "Sledgehammer" Randy Bachman Randy Bachman, Turner 4:34 7. "Blue Moanin'" Turner Turner 3:44 8. "Second Hand" Randy Bachman Randy Bachman 3:24 9. "Givin' It All Away" Thornton Randy Bachman, Turner 3:49 From their previous album in 1973 "Takin' Care of Business" rates as one of the most complete Rock songs ever written and recorded.

Wow!!! SWEET, SLADE, SUZI QUATRO, KISS, ROLLING STONES. BOWIE's " Diamond Dogs" is a true masterpiece with an apocalyptic theme running through it. "Rebel Rebel" could be my favourite song of all time. On other days it's "Riders on the Storm" Friends and relatives tell me that I have hundreds of favourite songs. Another contender is "Falling" by Matthew Sweet from his 1993 album "Altered Beast"

There were some great albums on here! I'm glad to see you like Grand Funk RR, BTO, and George Harrison. I would have put my #1 as Sweet Fanny Adams, and ranked Bad Co and Desolation Blvd higher on my own list. The 70s was a damn fine era for rock!👍🎉💥
@rockforever755 Жыл бұрын
It is true 💯that the 70s were the best years for the development of rock music. Different styles of rock music, many different new rock bands. I am very pleased that we can comment on our thoughts about our favorite bands!!! Thanks for watching and comment!!!👍🎸🥁🎤✌️

Great video and channel! You've got a great taste in music, I've gotta check some of these picks out. Someone else mentioned, but I'd also point it out again, Queen's album is 'Sheer Heart Attack'. Killer Queen was the lead single off it. It would be my no. 1 of '74! Definitely one that should make the list is Betty Davis' 'They Say I'm Different'! Heavy funk/rock/blues bangers sung by one of the gutsiest and dazzling female vocalists ever - she and her band could definitely knock half of these rock dudes out of the park!

A good number of freshman and sophomore albums here. Good to see Priest's, Rush's, and Kiss' first forays into legendariness! (Although I would have liked to see _Fly to the Rainbow_ by the Scorpions included.)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mighty QUO in at #44!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some QUO fans say that this is their 'best' album. Well, it is a bloody great Hard Rock album, that's for sure. It is predominantly written by Alan Lancaster & Rick Parfitt, their Bass player and Rhythm Guitarist. This how Rock is meant to be played. Even though I'm very biased, I rate STATUS QUO as the best Band in history. They have 33 studio albums, 98% of them are very good. "I wrote a Rockin' song I'm gonna sing it at the station" "I'll finish all the words when I reach my destination" Lyrics from "Slow Train" on the "QUO" album.

Zappa Apostrophe and King Crimson Red can't be below ELO, Nazareth, Kiss, Sparks, Slade, The Sweet, or Stormbringer (a weaker-than usual Deep Purple album), or I'm going to have to commit Hari-Kari. On the other hand, Mirage, Relayer, Lamb, and BTO do deserve to be up there 😁

Bay City Rollers? Really? I would rather have the Brotherhood Of Man's "Good Things Happening" (JOKING) or even "James Last Live" (JOKING AGAIN!) or possibly May Bygraves' "Singalongaxmas" (NOT JOKING!). How about these? There's The Rub - Wishbone Ash. One of the greatest guitar albums EVER recorded. It's monumental! Power And The Glory - Gentle Giant....a masterpiece. Hamburger Concerto - Focus.......their best album as voted by many aficionados of contemporary music i.e. Prog Archives. Horslips - Dancehall Sweethearts....give it a listen, it's brilliant. Warchild way too low in this ranking IMHO.

Absolutely surprising that, if you love crime of the century (so do I), you think that 1974 was a mediocre year for music, since it was the year of red and the lamb lies down on Broadway, easily two of the five best records ever made (selling england by the pound 1973, animals 1977, the wall 1979)
