I have several small fishes and all this time the only fish that I can say has the most noticeable personality are bettas, my present betta loves to sit on the substrate, betta hammock or over the plants he seldom swims because he easily becomes tired because of his long fin and tails so he will just move his eyes to scan around his tank and flap his fin to let me know that he can see me.

This video is great- It's true that fish has personality! I've only just found out last year after setting up my first aquarium a year ago. One of my Cory cat fish passed away and the other one just sat there and it was sad all day. There are a lot of wrong information on the internet about fish, saying they don't have emotions and they don't feel lonely and they can be kept in small small space due to these natures. It is a sad fact that many are due to marketing and fish sales. E.g. Betta fish are kept in a jar and I've seen so many sad Betta at chain pet stores. I hope one day the chain pet store can at least give it a bigger jar and a plant to interact with. May be it will help if we can all understand fish better and know that they all deserves loving home. They really do have individual personalities!

Goldfish, goldfish are it for me. I have a huge 75 gallon goldfish aquarium, I purchased them near passing as feeders or better referred to as common/comets. Every time I walk into the room they will actually splash water out of the tank until I stick my hands in the tank to Physically play and interact with them. No joke, believe it or not fish can be really intelligent and live a really long time. My goldies are between the sized of 5-10 inches each and between the ages of 5-10 years and they were more then worth all the time and work that's associated with owning an aquarium.

Gold fish and koi are the friendliest. They will go nuts if they even see you. And they will swim right into your hands for food. Big cichlids have personality sure, - a lot of it ! But the work they'll do on your hands and arms transcends that of your gold fish buddies. Shudders from the tickling - can be reaching for the paper-towels; gravel-cleaning can lead to bleeding all over the carpet. I think fish make super pets. Every one they named is 👍 in my book. i visited an aquarium yesterday.. and noticed that when you spend time watching them they become interested in you as well out of many visitors who stop by for a brief moment. than noticed that they started to calmly swim in circle just in front of me and took turn to eyeball me each by turn like trying to figure me out . so to make them aware of my intentional observation and interest is particular individuals...i look back at the one looking at me with one eye open and keep eye contact to initialize rapport.. the result was amazing. they start noticing that i am trying to get their attention each on its own intentionally and they started to behave the same by gathering and passing by my face...and some even were trying to communicate or by "coughing " or by staring gazes or even challenging behavior...people around me found it cool and tried to do the same but they were very agitated and excited that the fish get spooked from them and come back to swim right in front of my nose...maybe they thought i am their feeder...or they were as curious...

Funnily enough this video made me think of my dwarf powder blue gourami I had. He died earlier this year and I miss his personality. For a really long time I had him in a tank on my desk and he'd spend the whole day watching me. I don't think he just wanted to be fed, he just wanted my attention and interaction. Unfortunately I had to move house and I had to put him in my community tank for a while and although there were no issues he just didn't quite seem himself, he ate fine and wasn't sick but sadly he passed away. It's likely old age because I had him quite some time (I think 5 years but could've been longer) but I feel massively guilty.

My Angels dance when I come in the room, they try to push through the glass when my son comes in the room. I just give their regular feedings and clean the tanks, he spoils them with treats.

My favorite fish friend is my leopard gourami/spotted leaf fish (ctenopoma acutirostre). So cute, begging for interaction (probably just for food...) as soon as I enter the room! Has eyes quite similar to puffers and similar swimming behaviour, but are much heartier and easier to care for than tetraodon species! It will be of a good size too when it's of adult size, about the size of a hand.

Yes! We have a leaf ctenopoma and that dude always looks like he is thinking about something. :-)

Well that’s funny. I’ve almost never had any of those fish. Always had rainbows and tetras. While they’re not pets like the others are, they are very interactive with each other and pay attention to me when and wherever I’m in the room. They also recognize me much so than they do people they haven’t met. Or know . They seem to be pretty intelligent, fish wise, to me.

My betta Cronus swims over to see me, he gets all happy when I talk to him, follows my hand when it's time to feed him, and listens. I love him so much! He's my boy;💜💜💜💜💜

I enjoy my mollies personality over the others because they're not very shy and always swim to the front with their big lips begging for food. Plus they eat up at the surface, grab anything floating in the middle, and peck around down at the bottom - eating at all levels and not wasting food.

They get really excited when it's time to eat!

I've had all types of fish..from regular to exotic..but I always go back to what I call the puppies of the fish world..Oranda Goldfish. Mine get excited when I walk in the room..will try to kiss me through the glass..and let me rub their jelly heads and bellies. They are sweet natured..goofy..beautiful..and easy to keep. Their only downside is sometimes having to trim their wen when it covers their eyes. But other than that you couldn't ask for a sweeter aquatic buddy. 😀

Two fish that I think are underappreciated in terms of personality are Angelfish and Blue rams

Can i keep a betta and a german blue ram together in a 15 gallon?
@PrimeTimeAquatics4 жыл бұрын
Maybe - there is also a chance the ram will fin nip the betta though. If it were me I probably wouldn't try to mix them in that size tank though.
@chrisnair69374 жыл бұрын
@@PrimeTimeAquatics okay then what stocking ideas would you suggest as i already have a single veiltail german blue ram which is about 1.5 inch (tank has a black background with pothos and small rocks and shells)!
