If you don't want to pay for a Disney hotel, stay at the Hilton at Disney Springs. It is the only non-Disney hotel with magic hours. Plus you can walk across the street to Disney Springs. The Jr Suites are around 200. That's a third of Disney's price.

@@chriscohea2817 It's easily the best money saving suggestion if you aren't in the military. I imagine the folks on the show couldn't suggest it as they sell Disney hotel vacation packages.

The Swan and Dolphin are under the Marriott, so it should be possible to use Marriott Rewards points for free nights at those resorts. I used my Marriott Employee discount to stay at the Dolphin for $79 per night last week. Swan and Dolphin has character dining (Garden Grove), water transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, free bus transportation, and Extra Magic Hours as well.

Have fun. You being a Disneyland veteran I am sure already know this but make sure you see all of the night shows that are offered in the Disney World parks. Seems like a lot of people skip those and they end up being the cherry on top of the day.

Enjoy your first trip! We were Disneyland people too (live in Utah so CA is a quick flight). We were going to do a “once in a lifetime” Disney World trip to mark it off the list. Our first trip to WDW was December 2017. We are heading back next month for our 4th trip. 😬 I still love Disneyland but WDW has so much more to offer.

We loaded up on groceries. I had a PBJ every morning for breakfast. One jar of each, and a loaf of bread for five breakfasts vs. Disney breakfast each day. That saved us a lot. We brought a huge bag of sodas, and got a locker one day. We were able to save at every meal. and could drink whenever we wanted. The $10 for the locker was saved after two people each drank a soda.

We are driving (5 of us) from Iowa next month during Spring Break week for us. Instead of driving own car, we went thru Enterprise and rented a mid-size SUV for the entire week for only $355. Amazing rate saving ($2000+) way over what airfare has been. Airfares on average are $500+ round trip. This is our first time driving but are excited about this adventure as we are driving straight thru. Crossing our fingers for good weather and safe travels.

Eat a very very big breakfast before theme park entrance that is for sure. I also think some theme parks are more rain friendly than others. Epcot is fairly forgiving if it rains as long as you get to one of the buildings with attractions in it. Magic Kingdom is not a good place to get rained on however.

My dad looked at the resort and said that Embassy Suites are just as nice and they include breakfast (who doesn’t love a made to order omelet?). So, since then we always stay at Embassy Suites. I agree with lots of these points. The big one that I always try to do is book my flight early. More often than not, the sooner you book your flight, the cheaper it is. Also, if you’re going to be at Disney for a week, I think the park hopper is useless. Just a regular base ticket will do.

Buy an annual pass a year in advance and it doesn't become active until you use if for the first time. I'm a solo park visitor and spent one day visiting Hollywood Studios for a couple hours then walk the path to Epcot stopping off at the Boardwalk resort. On the way back to the car at HS I went around the other side of crescent lake to visit the Yacht and Beach clubs. With my annual pass it didn't cost anything extra to visit two parks and park a personal car at one park. My only expense the whole day while carrying granola bars in my backpack was about $8 for a milkshake at Beaches and Cream.

We stayed off side and happily pay the fee to rent a parking spot on the place I want to be. I don't want to drive busses for hours but most hotels provide shuttles if you don't mind busses. The parking fee is for the whole day and valid on all parking lots. Start with a good breakfast at Denny's, Ihop. A savory snack, like a pizza slice or sandwich can do for lunch. And you can dine at Disney in Quick service. Nothing wrong with a burger and fries. Offside you can also go shopping, see other parks, go to a state park, go for a good steak and that kind of good stuff with your rental. There is more then the mouse and I don't want to go to amusement parks back to back for a week.

One big thing is to take advantage of stacking discounts from your credit card. 5% back on gas station or grocery store or wholesale clubs (costo/sams club). Some of those offer a fuel station discount on top of that. And sometimes they offer a double fuel perk reward. So what you would do is buy Disney gift cards from the place, using your credit card. you get 5% back, and up to what, $0.20 off per gallon for every $50 spent. So, if gas is $2.60 a gallon, buy $650 in gift cards. you'll get an$32.5 back. Then with the $2.60 in gas perks, fill up your car (and take some gas cans too, because usually it's up to 30 gallons you can use fuel on). Take the $78 you would hsve spent on fuel, and put it into a savings account (or shoe box or w/e). and now, you have only spent $650 but you actually have $760.5 of "materials". That's a return of 17%. now, few things to note. A) PAY OFF YOUR CREDIT CARD. if you are charged 21% interest, saving 17% is still a net loss. B) usually the 5% is capped at $1500 per 3 months. So maybe you have a card in your name, and your partner has their own card, now you can go up to $3000.

Obviously sometimes you can get good deals with budget airlines, but then you have to deal with all the upcharges that come along with it.
