Can confirm the warm showers. The good part is you don't have to spend extra energy to heat up the water. Just put it all the way on cold and the water is warm enough to shower in.

I moved here when I was 8yrs old and 60 years later I'm still here and loving it. The only reason I would tell anyone not to move here is if they left a state where it's so bad they couldn't stand it anymore. But don't move here and turn our state into the crap hole that you left, that doesn't make sense at all you might as well just stay where you are if that's your intention. I would say don't move here at all, we have enough population as it is and we don't need nor want any more people moving here.

Yes we have no water! I've lived here for 64 years. I'll tell you what road rage is a matter of life and death here. If they don't jump out of their car and hit you in the face. They pull a gun on you or shoot at you or you get in the way of a shooting. A new one to me is being pushed into a highway collapsing guard. That actually terrified me. Yes they pulled that one on me. I was nearly killed, my son too! Let's not forget one hundred plus consistent days with heat over 100 degrees. Every year anymore. The cost of everything here is astronomical. Housing, rental pricing and don't forget gasoline. We had the highest prices on gasoline in the nation recently. Yes higher than even California. Crime is bad especially drugs. Don't move here. Even America's favorite home town is collapsing. Yes people are fleeing Prescott not moving to it. Just a little warning from someone who has lived here sixty four years. I can't even leave now. I've been here to long. Good luck Jim BCC AZ

I'm not concerned about Road Rage incidents -- which nowadays, yes, DO seem to be happening more often but almost everywhere, not just AZ. I'm not concerned because first, I have 2 decent quality dash cams: One is pointed forward (as most people use them, as most people only have ONE camera int heir car (that is, IF they even have a dash-cam), but a second dash-cam is in the back pointed rearward. A couple of years ago back in CO I experienced my most recent (yes, there were some others over the years, in TX) Road Rage incident myself...but unlike the previous one years ago, THIS time he raging fool was recorded on my rear cam in clear 1080p -- had he decided to come up to my truck and do something physical. So I have video evidence (for the police, to determine WHO was the aggressor -- not me!) of whatever happened...in case the incident had "escalated" -- but it didn't, so the raging fool lived that day to road-rage again someone else in the future (as he likely will, given his psycho temper). It probably never occurred to him that THAT day was almost his last. Secondly, I CARRY, so if an "event" DID get serious, I could actually DO something about it besides being "terrified." But really, WE are the REAL so-called First Responders...the police are Second or Third Responders. So yes, dial 911, but still be prepared to deal with an issue until they get there...even if in may liberal/blue/Democrat/defund-the-police cities, the police are in no hurry to arrive or, do NOT arrive at all. Sad... Stay Safe...whatever your plan is to do so. -- BR

I moved from Santa Barbara to Phoenix in 2015. I thought I’d save $$ on my car insurance, but instead it increased by $40/mo. Apparently insurance companies consider Phoenix a higher risk than Coastal Southern California. Turns out Phoenix is in the top 5 areas nationwide with the highest pedestrian fatalities. Since living here now 7 years I’ve seen more people Jay walking, ignoring traffic signals and cars running red lights than anywhere in California so keep a close eye on pedestrians and always look & wait before entering the pedestrian crosswalk. You definitely need to be at your defensive driving best here. You also need to carry a water bottle every time you leave the house. Because it gets so hot & dry here car batteries & tires don’t last as long either. It goes without saying, but your very existence is threatened w/o A/C homes, businesses, & cars. I’ve had Heat Exhaustion/Dehydration several times. Once waiting at a bus stop in 115º heat, another time it was only 100º and I was only outside for several minutes loading a bookcase into my car. I’ve heard once you have Heat Exhaustion it’s easier to get again and that’s certainly been my experience. People need to be warned about high electricity bills for A/C. My daughter & husband bought a large 2 story home (you can afford larger homes here), but their electricity bill was >$400/mo during the summer. Realtors should sit down with buyers and go over these additional expenses when working out their budget and home’s affordability.

I sur agree about the way drivers treat pedestrians. The traffic lights don't give us much time to cross the street and (instead of waiting an extra minute) drivers turn into the path of us (I have to walk due to seizures). I also agree that many pedestrians cross as busy street mid traffic when there is a traffic light on a few hundred (if even that far) away.

Allergies are worse here if you are allergic to weeds. They are out all year long. So I ended up still getting shots. That’s the downside of always dry and sunny gorgeous weather every day. @Hislittlelamb
@Hislittlelamb Жыл бұрын
It depends on which freeway & time of day. The I-10 is usually faster traffic, whereas the N-S fwys (17, 51) have sections of max 55 mph. The closer you are to downtown the slower the posted speed limit. Speaking of fwy’s there aren’t enough of them. My daughter used to live west of the 303 & worked near Olive east of the 17. The quickest route was to take Olive all the way across the valley. The 10 was too far south & the 101 was too far north. I used to primarily take the fwy before moving to Phoenix. Now it’s mostly side roads.

For the speeding, do most have radar detectors? do the cops just not care? I thought this might be the video that turned me away but it all sounds good to me! Here in Canada everything is 3x or more in cost, no freedom, cracked windshields and rotted rusty cars within 10 years of purchase, no guns ( a pocket knife is generally frowned upon ) the water is terrible depending on where you are, crime and homelessness is getting extremely bad in any large city, the area I'm in southern ontario has been deemed "east detroit" no scorpions for the most part but tons of other nasty bugs in the short hot and humid summer and then terrible depressing winters for the other 8 months of the year..
@LivingInPhoenixWestValley
@LivingInPhoenixWestValley 11 ай бұрын
Hi @alwaysgoodinthewoods :). Regarding speeding, we don’t have a radar detector, we just stay with the flow of traffic. Yes, the flow of traffic when it’s not rush hour is 10-15 miles over the posted speed limit. The people who are typically getting pulled over are the ones that are going faster than the rest of the vehicle on the roadway has driving in and out of traffic. Don’t much have to worry about salt in the roads here, however if you travel north to Flagstaff, watch out for some serious potholes. This past year they got lots of snow and it really tore up the roads. Yes water here is terrible, a soft water & r/o are pretty necessary. I’ve lived in areas of the country where it’s gray sky’s for months. Love those areas and will visit them on the summer, but I would never move back. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help you in your journey of living in the Phoenix area. I carry a hand gun with me 100% of the time 😉.

WATER is HORRIBLE. Surprised you spoke of water temp for bathing and not the water itself. I can’t speak for surrounding cities but Phoenix has the worst water I’ve ever experienced outside of a 3rd World Country. Standing Water goes skunk after a couple days. If you leave any dishes in the sink or clothes in the machine to soak after 2 days the whole house stinks of a nasty musk odor. The stench ruins your clothes because you can’t wash the smell out. The water will turn a milky white with a gross film on top. It doesn’t matter if its winter or summer, the water is horrible year round.

I went from Oregon to Phoenix. Enjoyed Gilbert - you have the riparian reserve there if you’re a bird nerd photographer. Also enjoyed the salt river wild horses. I think I made more friends in Phx in 2 years than the moody mobs of Portland in the past 20 years. It’s also nice seeing attractive people that actually try to take care of themselves. People in Phoenix also have hobbies other than being angry about Trump 24/7!! The parts I didn’t enjoy were the Nissan Altima drivers - for whatever reason they’re everywhere on hwy 60 on the eastside. They’re convinced that their vehicles are the world’s fastest most exotic high speed performance vehicles ever conceived of. If I were a cop in Phx - I would make it my life mission to impound and chapter 7 those people into financial oblivion! They’re easily worse than the annoying prius drivers of Portland! Funny part about Phoenix drivers is that they go fast but - they won’t actually race you from a stoplight. Always found that funny. The crime is real - I lived in both Gilbert and far far east mesa. Def one of those situations where you MUST have a garage if you care about your vehicle. The $300-$400 a month summer electric bills are real - choosing the right hvac filter is absolutely critical! Overall I had a good experience living there and enjoy visiting. I now live in Utah and appreciate a bit more seasonal balance… people here are wonderful For those wondering: I am conservative so not one of the Portland people that moved only to destroy the new areas. I got out of Portland after realizing that it’s truly a mental health hell being surrounded by depressed people and those who refuse to seek therapy for their unresolved mommy/daddy issues. I can say: a lot of very attractive nice women in Phoenix. Had no issues meeting going on dates 😇 I met my longterm girl I am keeping forever here in Utah tho! Thanks for the video and go see the horses!

Thank you so much for the comments and the laughs. When you were commented about the Altima’s my mind was thinking, can they seriously be worse than Prius drivers lol… And then you made the comment about the annoying Prius drivers in Portland🤣. 100% fact! (Them and the dads driving minivans like they are corvettes lol!). I have several Portland PD officer friends that I am happy they either retire or got into positions to get them off them streets. Even if they get someone who care into office, it’s going to take years to get that City back on track. It’s too bad, it was a beautiful city. Enjoy a wonderful (4 seasons) life in Utah. I’ve heard it’s breathtaking there! And I will definitely go check out the Salt River Wild Horses this fall.
@07wrxtr1
@07wrxtr1 Жыл бұрын
@@LivingInPhoenixWestValley Yeah the wild horses are fun! You can kayak the river if you can arrange a car shuttle with some friends. Best way to see the horses! The Prius drivers in Portland are very passive aggressive while also insulting your intelligence with their not so imaginative dirty bumper stickers forcing you to mentally burn calories on their emotionalism mental health issues. ;-) When you're in the middle lane on the 60 minding your own business and an Altima with a primer black hood passes you at 120+ - I used to commute from Gilbert to downtown...saw that a few times per week, and I have a decently fast vehicle! Sadly I think Portland is so far down the path of marxism I think that many people will have to lose their homes in order to understand the longterm implications of voting based upon emotions and what the public school system told them. It's verymuch a theology!! KATU news has a "fun" story about a leftist that cannot sell his property due to the homeless camps - it's fun watching people like him absolutely refuse to link voting choices vs. results.

What is the best hvac filter?
@07wrxtr1
@07wrxtr1 Жыл бұрын
@@Cygnusx199 It depends on the system/age of system/etc - I would go with a higher flow option for summer for sure. What you don't want to do is get one that has too much filtration thus slowing the flow and putting strain on the compressor. Go with whatever is recommended by your system - just be careful to not get one of them that is overly restrictive. You're better off changing more often > more restrictive filter. There are guides online and I'd also lookup whatever the manufacture of yours says for recommendation. Obviously if you have pets - that's another story... but I'd go on the side of less restrictive flow in order to keep those bills down (well - SRP will gouge ya no matter what so! GL!).

Constitutional Carry - a huge positive for AZ and a good reason to move there. A negative, however, is we've been seeing AZ (used to be Republican/conservative) voters choosing liberal Democrat governors lately -- IMO, those two "concepts" do not AT ALL mix well. :-( I'm in TX now (moved back here from CO back in October 2022, when I couldn't find a suitable property to BUY there), but am hoping to move back to CO (Springs) in 2.5-3 years when/if the housing market there becomes more affordable. The MAIN obstacle (for me) is the currently too-high mortgage interest rates (almost 8%, even for VA loans it's over 7%) coming down BIG-time...and secondly, more supply to bring down home prices as well. Until then, I'm preparing financially to be in the best shape possible (by late 2025/early 2026) when going for a mortgage pre-qualification letter. BTW...TX is Constitutional Carry also -- but only fairly recently. -- BR

Thanks so much watching and commenting on the video. I’m sure we’ll see interest rate come down some after the new year with the up coming election. @billredding2000
@billredding2000 Жыл бұрын
@@LivingInPhoenixWestValley Thanks. If I just look at numbers only, it makes absolutely NO financial sense to move back to more expensive CO (Springs). It DOES make financial sense to stay in West TX (ELP) to buy a property here: 1. Way lower homes prices than CO (even though they HAVE gone up some). 2. I get a 100% property tax exemption (not so in CO). Given TX's HIGH property taxes, that's nice to have (reduces my monthly house pay't by hundreds of dollars). CO property taxes are way lower but lately I've noticed they seem to be going quite a LOT, in some cases 2X/3X what they were earlier But whatever they are, I have to pay them in CO. :-( Still, I prefer CO even if it's "just a tad" (!) more expensive. Sometimes, it's about MORE than just the money. ;-) BTW, a few years back I WAS looking into moving to AZ (and was looking at Las Vegas, NV, as well)...my home AZ home search was North Scottsdale (a condo in the Grayhawk area), Anthem and Fountain Hills. But given I DO miss not having 4 (and distinct!) seasons, AZ is out, as would be also-considered HI (Summer all years long), and staying here in West TX...UNLESS for whatever reasons I do that. However, if I DID move to AZ, those same areas around Phoenix would likely again be on my Short List. Enjoy your "sunshine" (aka: oven, "a dry heat") there in AZ...I know I am as while out & about in my truck recently, the outside temperature dash gauge showed 110F. I usually expect to to be only 106 (June/July) on a fairly regular basis here...but that day I was given 4 degrees higher to "enjoy." I'm sure I did. ;-) -- BR

Great video! I have some clarifications/additions for the viewer: 1. The filthy air somewhat cleaner on the weekend due to reduced traffic and the fact the landscapers aren't blowing dirt into the air and all over your car with their leaf blowers. 2. Don't depend on public transportation in the Phoenix area. Bus waits are long and unpleasant - and that futuristic choo-choo train probably won't get you anywhere you need to go. 3. Black widows and brown recluses are as plentiful (maybe more plentiful) than scorpions. 4. Never expect a driver to be courteous. Safety tip: don't signal your intention, since this will lead drivers behind you to speed up. The MVD's Rules of the Road requires you to follow the speed limit but not impede the flow of traffic. I asked the MVD which rule applies when everyone is driving 20-30 mph over the speed limit. Their answer was: "We don't interpret the law. Consult the local law enforcement agency." Your tax dollars at work. So when you get in the car, ask yourself, "Do I feel lucky?" 5. 90% of houses are one of three shades of brown stucco (to mask the dirt) slathered over chicken wire and styrofoam, and have a garage door that overpowers any other architectural feature. So when you take pictures for friends back east, clarify for them that, no, you don't live in a garage. Yes, some nice homes from olden times are in lush green neighborhoods - but you probably can't afford them. And yes, there will be those older homes with two pickup trucks (one usually missing a wheel) in a dirt front yard, but you probably don't want them.

landscapers blowing dirt into the air and all over your car, house, lungs, patio furniture etc. with their leaf blowers. They need to be outlawed. Just leave it on the ground. We don't need to be breathing that stuff.

Hello Nadia. Are you planning to rent or buy? Buyers don't get charged as their fee is paid by the listing agents company. I can explain that more on a zoom call. Feel free to reach out to me via email lynettejacksonrealtor@gmail.com or by calling me at (602)855-0462.

Few things. One , your listing the most minor reasons ever . There’s 100 bigger reasons it to move to this landfill . Two, why on gods earth would you move away then deliberately move back to this wasteland? You had almost 48 better options. Not to bright.
