I am doing the Ketogenic life style. I am wondering if this would cause a conflict of interest. I keep my carbs below 50 per day. 🌻❤🌻

Micheolene, I too wondered that, there's a good book and info about grains by Nicole Apelian PHD. Certain Grains are very important for diabetics,/slows the digestion process. and necessary for proper bowel function. BUCKHWEAT,MILLET, FARRO,QUINOA,BULGAR.ADDED TO SALADS ARE GREAT, HAVE A BLESSED DAY.

What about barely? Purple or black rice? Also what about wild rice? My favorite whole grain is farro and quinoa

Great question! Barley, purple/black rice, and wild rice are all good for blood sugar control, with lots of fiber and nutrients. Farro and quinoa are also awesome choices! We focused on the top 7, but these grains are definitely healthy options too. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for sharing your experience! Everyone's body reacts differently to certain foods, including whole grains like brown rice. It's always important to monitor how specific foods affect your blood sugar and consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice. We appreciate your input and hope you find other grains on the list that work better for you!

The idea of pushing whole grains as being "safe" for diabetics is extremely misleading. The grains you mention here are all high in carbohydrate, which cause BG and insulin spikes in diabetics. Having a high fiber content does not necessarily make these grains safe. Diabetics should be advised to check their blood glucose levels before eating any of these grains, and check it again about one and a half to two hours after eating to see by how much their BG has risen. This is the safe, and only way by which diabetics would be able to determine whether a food is safe or not safe. This whole grain narrative is being spewed out by many people on KZbin who do not care about how dangerous this kind of information could be to diabetics. I encourage diabetics to not be misled by this and other videos that preach the whole grain narrative day in and day out. Best BG control is achieved only by reducing carb intake, and the Keto diet works best. When BG is in a good range, people can experiment with different foods, and add a tiny portion to their diet if it is not causing a significant rise in BG.

Thank you. I am on the Keto diet and was looking for a wheat substitute for bread. Evidently this is not it. 🌻❤🌻

@@Micheolene There are many recipes for Keto breads on KZbin where coconut and almond flour are the main kinds of flour used. I realize that you have to keep searching for alternatives, and there are times when you would have to modify recipes to make them safe. You can even find Keto cauliflower pizza crust recipes. In time, you will learn how to modify and prepare many delicious meals that are low carb.

But these grains in moderation are much better than wheat or rice which is staple throughout the world. And some of them add additional nutriants apart from the fiber content. Keto is just another dient that is in vogue now, but how many can just maintain this diet in the long run and stick with it?

Skinny people can also be diabetic, not just people who are overweight. I am 105 lbs, just recently became diabetic with healthy eating but cholesterol still high and drs are surprised because I'm so thin. Everyone has different opinions regarding whole grains. Who to trust/believe?
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk Жыл бұрын
You're right, diabetes can affect people of all body types, including those who are thin. Weight is just one factor, and genetics and lifestyle also play a role. When it comes to whole grains, it's best to consult with a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice based on your specific needs and health condition. They can help you make informed decisions about your diet and manage your cholesterol levels effectively. Stay strong and keep up your healthy eating habits!

Low glycemic carbs are still carbs and will spike blood sugars. In fact all grains are high carbohydrate so why are you peddling this dangerous advice? Unless a good has high enough fibre content to negate carb levels, it's a no go for diabetics.
@DiabeticsTalk
@DiabeticsTalk 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! While it's true that all carbs can affect blood sugar, low glycemic carbs like whole grains digest more slowly, leading to a gentler rise in blood sugar. For many people with diabetes, including these grains in a balanced diet, along with fiber and portion control, can help manage blood sugar levels. Always best to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice!

Great point! Black and red rice can be beneficial for blood sugar control due to their higher fiber content. We'll be sure to include them in future discussions. Thanks for the suggestion!
