Bowser is one of those characters where well you can't win a major but you can pop off with him but people think the unusable characters start too high

I feel like in older fighting games the meta seems more set in stone and a lot of times the lower tiers start to be considered irrelevant, so it's super cool when someone goes out of their way to remind us that these characters are far from unplayable and still very much capable of doing work if you're willing to stick it out. I play twelve in 3rd strike and people in fightcade chat always go "why are you choosing that character? he sucks" when I choose him, sure he's definitely bottom 2 but he's still very much functional despite what people think, and he's insanely fun too

I think about this often. Ness has a really good combo game, which everybody forgets about. Bowser is an above average edge guarder with some great kill confirms on floaties. Roy is our boy.

Bowser the Man vs Bowser the Idea: An Essay Written by some guy at one in the morning To begin with such a question, we need to establish base lines to remove any ambiguity to the subject matter at hand. What is a man? Dracula would have you believe they are miserable piles of secrets. In societies of yester year, they were strong, capable, fierce, and had total control over the world at large. Now they are responsible, diligent, and courageous. In these frightening times of chaos and confusion it's hard to know something, even as simple as: a man. So what is a man? For simplicity sake they are all the things I mentioned. Brave without the need to search for fear. Strong enough to be gentle, and wise enough to know when to work. This will be our definition of a man for the remainder of this essay. Then there is the idea. What is an idea? where does it come from? Where does it go? Where does it come from, cotton eye joe. For this first section I will be describing the man, and the character of Bowser. The next section will be about what that means to those around him and the world at large. Firstly, I would like to dispel any arguments about this being a poorly thought through, hastily written, just utter garbage piece of written art. I would agree, but you made it this far so clearly you are somewhat curious as to what I have to say. Good for you. Part one: A Father Bowser is a father. That has been clear since Super Mario Bros 3, when we first see his 8 children. This isn't totally unusual. Turtles are known to have lots of offspring (Around 50-110 depending on the species.) and Bowser is no different. The strange thing here though, is not only does he have ONLY 8 kids, he provides for them. He gives them a castle to stay in. If Bowser was a mere animal basing his thoughts on animalistic behavior he would not be doing such things. He has a heart, somewhere. He might have left it back in 1995. So what does this mean? Bowser is capable of higher thinking. To have the capacity to care for ones children is one thing but to provide for them is another. He gives his children lands to rule and govern. This shows he trusts his kids with that amount of responsibility. Part Two: A King to Reign While his children have smaller lands to rule. For Bowser himself he has the greatest land. He has the greatest power, and with great power comes great responsibility. Bowser is a running governing body. That means Bowser himself is the governor. He deals with the hardships of a crown. Bowser is one that does not shy from a fight, he is willing to go to war with other nations as seen in the Super Mario Movie (In theaters everywhere spring of 2023 #notsponsered) Resistors have properly been put in check, even the neighboring kingdom of mushrooms has been taken over time and time again. His reign goes farther than that of Ganondorf's. Bowser was on the cusp of ruling a galaxy. Yes, on the cusp, he didn't fully reach his potential. That brings us to part three. Part Three: To Try and To Try Again Mario has stopped Bowser for the better half of a few decades. Bowser has never fully realized his plan, always being stunted and tossed into some conveniently placed lava. But the thing about Bowser is that he is always comes back and better than ever. He always seems to be in the prime of his life. That is something some villains can only dream of. To fail and fail again but getting in back up is something I think we all aspire to do more of. Bowser seems to try new things, once it was slamming onto some bricks, then it was spinning around a planet, then, a bathtub? AND THEN HATS! Bowser always has something up his sleeve, willing to give it a go. Willpower is something incredible. Part Four: The Idea Bowser is often seen as the bad guy, and for good reason. He rains fire and destroys public property, and I had a friend that said that his uncle's friend's pet dog's room mate saw Bowser steal candy from a 7-11. He is clearly a bad guy, but is that all he is? Yeah pretty much. There's nothing else to see here, just a big turtle with a spiky shell, that breaths fire and is voiced by Jack Black. Nothing here at all. Apologies, just filling out the word count, make it seem longer, because, again: It's like three in the morning now. I rewrote this thing like three times. I am very tired. But the idea of Bowser comes back to me. A being that won't quit even when he knows he's going to lose. I'm wrapping this up now, I think that's a good note to end on. In conclusion Bowser is a cool guy, and I think he should be main-ed more in Smash Bros Melee, because it would be funny. Perchance.
