I'm in my third season with Mclaren. I simulate all practice sessions and still have 90%+ setup-confidence every race. I have Lando and Perez in my team, Perez was expensive as hell but it's worth it. I had Zhou and he crashed almost every session and couldn't qualify into Q3 even once. Now both of my drivers are in top 5 all the time and I'm leading the constructors for the first time, mid season 3.

Been playing for a few days now your tips are all good if u move all the sliders far right you get massive gains per part development and chassis and suspension take the least time to develop and about the same so I usually do those together and watch the wear on your power train during the season you don’t want to wait till your down to 1 motor or gearbox to start buying spares since grid penalties stack and two in 1 race is really tough to overcome the -12 start and crashes damage the power train as well and u can edit the race objectives to make more achievable or mor difficult but better monetary rewards

If there’s any session I’d skip it’s only the 1st practice session. From there on I totally agree with running each practice session… totally agree with the driver aggression. No need to run balls out in practice. I just run a short fast run at the end of P3.

I use the pause button and the 16x in between changes, never do automatic sessions, rather 16x. Made a second save (1st save Williams, but it's hard) to learn the game with a rich team (Mercedes) fired the drivers and hired 2 rookies Piastri and Doohan. I had to give up the tutorial during the first race, because it was taking strange strategy decisions, I changed tires and it was trying to change tyres again.... and wanted me to stop and change tires in the end of the final lap???? It just locked the game and demanded the pit stop, I had to turn tutorial off to end the race.

I had exactly the same happen with the tutorial mode as well. Last lap of my 1st race, I tell Norris to go full aggressive to get past someone. 2nd last corner, the tutorial pops up, telling me his tyres are worn and we need to stop... click pit, pit options were greyed out of course, as it was the last lap. So I was stuck, no way to move forward! Eventually I found the kind of main menu to turn it off, but once the tutorial is off, its off for good and you can't turn it back on. Bit of a bug that! 🙂

​​​​@@MaverickGT92 They're not good at qualifying, but is capable to hang around both Haas drivers and Alpha Tauri (Mainly Tsunoda) in races if handled right. Aston Martin also has better future development and apt funding if distributed right.

My pleasure. I regards to DNFs I have only seen retirements due to collisions. The furthest I got in career was up to Spanish GP (6 races in) and that is where the durability of the Engine, Gearbox, ERS really starts to get low so would expect some teams to take risks and see mechanical retirements. There are slow pit stops too but not seen any retirements due to this either yet.

@@stuffeyy These kind of games can always use things like sliders to adjust the difficulty and probability of things happening. Is there anything like that in settings? Then nobody can really complain as they can customise it to what they think is realistic. As ever though, the way probability and luck works it'll never be perfect.

You can make the car setup, then simulate each practice session after again making the setup yourself I have gotten plenty of 90+ Setups

Once you get the hang of how to tune the car I agree, just sim it. It helped me, though, to not simm and tune the car mid practice session after getting driver feedback. By simming you're limiting the amount of times you can play with and optimize each driver's setup.

@@bilboswaggings Yeah when you get it 100%, you really notice the difference. I got Lando to 100% once and Danny Ricc to 97%, they get moving then, I was off work, so binged a bit, had 2 wins and 4th in Constructors. Setup and Developing new bits for the car are probably the 2 most crucial things to get the drivers faster!!

I would like to see some things in the next game, like Mechanical failures and I would really like that the AI would stop to mess up my setup when I simulate the practice, because of that now I have to do every single session

There is mechanical failure I don’t know if it’s what ur thinking but the power train particularly is something that has to be managed or u will have gearbox failures ERS. Errors or complete engine failure car just stops dead on the track I don’t think that it happens to suspension or chassis ext. unless u crash then they break but no wear and tear like power train

On the don't skip practice sessions tip, are you able to skip their practice runs? I.e. Where you did the practice setup changes can you do that, skip the practice runs and jump straight back to see their feedback while remaining in the same session?

Yep you can setup the parameters of the setup before you Simulate the session and alter the between each session

Every 2 months the CFD hours and Wind tunnel hours get reset?

Roughly around that time period. The hours are reset every ADTP so.if you have hours remaining you will lose them.

Would you recommend putting the reserve driver in the car during one of the practice sessions? Like how likely is it that one of your main drivers will need to be replaced?

You will damage acclimatization to the replaced driver and it will be harder to get a good car setup.

If it is a young driver you plan to use in the future sure,the only thing you'll miss is 1point from track acclimatisation

@@mariop8101 that is not right. I use Haas and change dohan for k mag every race. Dohan can make a good Set up in p1. K mag keeps getting it to 100% and still gets 14 out of 15 extra points. Just make him drive more rounds. Drive a lot of rounds is the key in practice

Practice sessions are not impactful at all. The most you get out of not simulating and wasting 30 minutes yourself of messing with sliders is 1 maybe 2 more attribute boosts to your stats which has literally no impact. It’s just a waste of time.

What I've learned Safety car system doesn't work correctly Tyre model doesn't work as expected - I was able to run relatively competitive times using Inters on a dry track AI lacks..... Intelligence, they will sometimes just sit behind other cars. They'll even park behind stranded cars. UI isn't optimised for wide-screen monitors Fuel delta doesn't work correctly Hot tyres doesn't appear to result in slower lap times Cars driving through pit walls. I had really high hopes for this game... Been following it since it's announcement. Very disappointed. Real shame it doesn't function as well as it looks.

Thanks for this. Maybe somebody can help a total noob out, I haven't bought the game yet. I am wondering if you can play it without driving? LOL May sound weird, but I think I will enjoy the 'geekness' stuff and may or may not actually want to drive. Maybe I would be playing merely as the owner/manager? Not sure how it works. I just downloaded a demo of F121 and it sounds like you have to drive. Is it the same in F122? Any info around these ideas would be appreciated. Thx!

Hi Joseph, you don't have to drive the car at all. This is a manager game so you decide on strategy, when the drivers should go agressive/conserve, use overtake button or not as well as control the development and running of an F1 Team in a detailed way. It's throughougly enjoyable and would highly recommend especially if you are looking to not drive directly as you suggest.

Be careful choosing haas, the racepace is pretty good and you should hit the goals but facilities are horrendous and need lots of upgrading off the bat

Its such a fixed game, ive had so many instances that just wouldn't happen in a real GP, this game has coding that prevents you from doing well in the lower teams, and i hate games that punish you for doing well

Not sure what you're referring to. I'm in my second season with Williams and gotten a P5 in a race with no DNFs in the race. I also have all rookie drivers so they make a lot of mistakes.

I was running a race with HAAS and had MAG in 5th during the end of the first stint. He suffered a massive lockup and got pulled down to P10. I'd love to blame the game, but to be honest, I had him pushing pretty hard. It sucked, but I ended up putting my head down and got him back to p9 by the end. Not p5, but I don't think I'd be able to hold that position anyway. I feel like revealing what stats/situations in the game cause more lockups would be good info to know. I try to keep the tires above 30% if I'm pushing hard, but beyond that, it's kind of up to the driver (developers) to decide when MAG locks up. I'm ok with it for now, especially since there were much more incidents on the track that DIDN'T involve me, so I'm thankful for that at least.

When is a good time to change a powertrain part? i've gotten a engine to around 40%. Has anyone had experience with a engine failure?

Hi. There is a limit, as I remember what you mentioned, 40%, under that the engine will lost power, so you will lost time if you use it. You can use it further in practice and can change before Qualification, but you will lost knowledge about that part and your driver will have less boost. Actually I used once an engine around 30% and I still won with Ferrari, because that power unit is very powerful... :) You have to test yourself how is it work, it's fun and that's the main point in this game. Try your luck and see what happens.

I really curious how will it be working when I reach the upgrading cap at Ferrari. In my first Season I won the Championship and Leclerc be the Champ, so I think it was a good start :)
