If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend "Ed Wood" with Johnny Depp and Oscar winner Martin Landau, directed by Tim Burton. It really captures how wacky Ed Wood was as a film maker and Landau's portrayal of Bela Lugosi absolutely deserved to win the Oscar.

*Hector Salcido* The line I remember was Lugosi, (Landau), being met by a fan who said he enjoyed his performance as Karloff's sidekick in Son of Frankenstein and Landau replies to the fan, "Karloff? Sidekick? FUCK YOU!!" Lugosi and Karloff had quite the monster movie rivalry. :-)

@@herbbluntman2287 They did, But Lugosi and Karloff had far too much respect for each other for that kind of behavior in actuality, Burton dwelling on on the "F... Excellent, and so thought provoking - it's deep philosophical message resonates with me. You see my future was a result of my past, when that itself was my future. However when past my future was that which I had hoped would be my present between the past future and my future which was going to arrive very soon after my past present - previously my future, then my past - had been changed - literally overnight - to that which I once speculated would be what is to come - or what was to come - which then went, never to return except as that which repeats itself the first time ad hoc (unplanned and unthought but recognised) as a moment, distinguished from an event by its timescale.

Oddly, although I've known about this movie for decades, I've never seen it. Back in the '90s I was a huge fan of "Mystery Science Theater 3000", so I've seen my share of terrible movies, but they always avoided doing "Plan 9" because they thought it was too easy and cliche. Since they never riffed on it and since I don't watch bad movies intentionally, I've never managed to be in the same place at the same time with "Plan 9".

First time that I heard that this was the worst movie ever made, I had to see it. It's not the worst. Not by a long shot. As a serious movie, it's not good. As one of those movies that TRIES to be serious, and fails so perfectly, it succeeds, and is highly entertaining. This horror film needs no MST3K to draw giggles. There's so much in there that's poorly done that makes it so good. I would tell someone watching for the first time to not try an take it seriously at all. If they do that, they'll be laughing in no time.
@squirlmy3 ай бұрын
I think "worst movie made" was always marketing, Kind of sort of reverse-psychology marketing, Ed Wood's "Glen or Glenda" is also often called "the worst movie". Just calling it a lousy movie wasn't going to inspire anyone to watch it, but THE worst movie? I think John Waters talked about this, maybe specifically about "Glen or Glenda". A lot of films, despite getting listed as the "worst", are worth watching the whole way through, or at least most of the way through. The really bad one aren't worth watching for more than a few minutes, and people just avoid talking about them at all.
