You missed management lies, making promises that never materialise, rapid turnover, constant reorganisation, regrading of staff downwards, wearing multiple hats, not clarifying tasks, poor project management, pointless meetings, no staff appraisals, repeated staff breakdowns, widespread mental health issues, difficulty recruiting

Rapid turnover is a major red flag. If you interview with someone, be sure to ask why the position is open. If they refuse to answer or flat out lie, eff em.

Giant red flag: nepotism arrangements. When the boss' wife/husband works in the office. Especially if they're not qualified for the role. Run far, far away and don't ever accept the job. Nothing good ever comes out of that. Or any form of nepotism really (friends, family members, etc). You, as the employee, will always be "wrong". Not to mention, if you have a legitimate complaint about a spouse, you can't exactly bring that up to the boss. Nepotism harms morale in the office.

This was my previous job before being laid off. The employees at this business were the worst people I ever worked with. It was obvious I wasn't welcomed or liked. Other employees were being helped while I was not being helped at all. I couldn't learn anything because I was given new tasks to do everyday that I would fall behind on other tasks and I was set up to fail. If you are being treated poorly by employees or your employer, don't stick around. Move on to something else.

When there is a high rate of unemployment it is difficult to find another job when one finds oneself in toxic work environment. Also, many work places these days are toxic. I went from one bad situation to another. After my last bad treatment, I left so ill I never fully recovered. Now I no longer want to work. I understand now why some people rather claim benefits than work. There is not enough focus on staff welfare and no protection from bullying. Work places nowadays are more toxic because of high unemployment. If you complain of bad treatment you are shown the door because you are easily replaced by one of the many unemployed.

I can identify with that. I was accused of using foul language, at a meeting with her boss she admitted that was an assumption that I going to use expletives, fast forward two years later (they were still trying to take this accusation forward) I told them to do that and I would take my recording of her previous admission to the press - never seen a room clear so quickly!

My recent former place of employment was so toxic, thanks to the 'good ole girls club.' After searching through channels to see if any related to my situation, I haven't found any of them like my former supervisor. My former supervisor was a very charming wolfe in sheep's clothing; which made it very hard for me to prove her deceitful, manapulitive ways when I reported her to the big boss. The big boss thought I must have been having a misperception of her because she felt there was no way this person I was exposing could be anything like I was claiming her to be. True story, many colleagues began turning against me because she made sure to turn as many people against me as she could. What really upsets me is the two other coworkers who worked in the same department as me, they know that everything I was saying was true, but sadly neither one of them was brave enough to speak up because fear of losing their job, and likely because they saw what happened to me after I spoke up. It's disturbing to know that good hard working people such as myself was shunned for speaking the truth and a wolfe in sheep's clothing continues to get away with workplace corruption.

@@dutchbacheloryou’re wise and a rare bird these days. Your family life is obviously going well. The core problem is that these employee 🤡s bring their personal issues into work. The manager is not your miserable father from your miserable past. So, acknowledge that truth, and treat him/her with respect or leave. Destroying someone’s career with deceit and treachery is not an option. Unfortunately, this cultural disease can’t be cured.

And low grade can apply to anyone. Our company has a habit of hiring people from the REALLY big boys. We are an SMB with maybe 100 employees. They are talking about strategies and time to market and customer journey, while at the same time, some of the most basic stuff you need to function as a company still are not in place, so you have to reinvent the wheel every couple of months Them failing to recognize that over and over again is what I call low grade. And some of those people make five figures a month.

I just started working at this new company and from the beginning I knew something wasn't right. There was no communication, boss hides basic things from us and favoritism is openly shown to certain employees without any care in the world and any input or suggestions are immediately shut down by more senior people. Also, you're just told to do different things, in my industry it can take weeks to familiarize yourself with certain projects so just being told to get on another project out of the blue means you will always be behind and never really know what you're doing. So you're really setup to fail and after working here for 3 months I've completely lost interest in everything.
