It also depends upon size of map, and richness * Tower is weakest without resource, & on small map * Castle overall strong. Relies a bit on richness for larger maps. * Rampart = Strong early, and average+ late. Less dependant on the richness of map. * Conflux = OP early, and thus Very powerful late. Mediocre costs, meaning they can make do with slightly poor maps. *Necro = Very weak early, God damn powerful late. (Not good for smaller maps in other words.). Quite cheap. *Inferno = Not so good all-round, demonfarming can make exellent mid-late. Somewhat cheap town. *Dungeon is quite strong early & late, works on small & large map. Average costs, so richness isnt THAT important *Fortress can be powerhouse early cuz cheap AF, falls off mid, then is strong late because of stats. Among the best towns for small maps, & good otherwise. *Stronghold is less strong early & more expensive than fortress. Possibly better midgame, but weak late game. Among the best at small maps, and poor maps due to cheap building.

I wouldn't say necro is weak early... By using galthran and rushing the skeleton transformer and/or vampire lords u can have already over a hundread skeletons (depends what you get in the tavern) and 4 vampire lords on week one. Though notably u need a little bit of luck with the resources. On week two you can either bolt for an enemy town (given the oportunity) with 12 vampire lords or farm skeletons like crazy to compensate for not building knights week one. Granted if you don't get sensible pay off in combat this might slightly hamper your late game (not having knights and liches week one)... But OP+slightly hamper is still OP in this case.

Castles are best all around. Their castle position is situated with lots of resources. Next is stronghold then rampart. Fortress is ok, u only need lots of wood but swamp areas have mediocre resources. Imo, poorest castle positioning were tower, dungeon and inferno. These faction not only have poor surrounding resources their building upgrades is expensive. Conflux have expensive buildings but can be compensated by decent resource suurounding. Grassy/ plain area have lots resources, rocky terrain has mediocre, swamp is bad, snow and lava terrain sucks

It seems like it would be fitting that those with native terrain that lacks resources also would be cheaper. But in the case of tower for example, this couldn't be further from the truth.

Without knowing deadly strategies or "tricks" that most players know, I love playing stronghold, it mostly kicks butt. Also dungeon is really gooooood.

Castle # 1- overall very good. Do wish Crusaders and Crossbowmen were faster… Stronghold: Get wolf Riders, rocs, behemoths and a battle mage. Forget Orcs and ogres. Conflux-best magic town, provided you get bless. Tower: Only thing I’d change would be the Golems, make them faster or allow upgrading them to Gold or Diamond.

castle has the best creatures overall lv 1: pikemans are the tankiest, most high in attack in defense among all lv 1 creatures, the only downside is that they are quite slow compared to other lv 1s, during a castle defend is when these guys really shine, they are also excellent for clearing out early monster camps lv 2: the archers are horrible, probally even worst than lizard man, but the marksman upgrade improves this by 200%, double strike, high number, you cant go wrong with these guys, but they are quite fragile and can die easily if focused down, which is sucks because the A.I LOVES killing these guys over anything else in the game lv 3: griffons are fast, tanky flying beast that can charge into the enemies army and screw everything over with their INFINITE retaliations, just put them infront of your enemies shooter and see them cry, one of the best lv3 imo. lv 4: in fewer numbers, crusaders absolutely destroys the vampire lords (not the case in equal-high numbers) their damage output is utterly disgusting and they strike twice!! The downside is that they are pretty slow, but you can use them to protect your marksman and nothing dares to go near lv 5: if you put zealots in other faction army, they are kinda bland and weak, but for a town like castle, they are quite decent and much needed ranged shooter, not very tanky, good damage but quite expensive. lv 6: champions with their jousting ability can one-shot any squishy lv1 and 2 given enough resource-number. one of the best lv 6 in the game, losing only to dread knights (and possibly naga queens if used correctly) lv 7: expensive, but god damn they are badass, much worth the effort of trying to get them in the first place, do i have to talk about their strength? in raw strength, seriously nothing beat castle if played correctly even conflux. Their weakness is their vulnerabilty to spells, also the high cost. But with the right items, spells and heroes, these guys kills anything in the game. Hence the name "cheat town castle"

Personally I would put Dungeon above Rampart and Necropolis above Castle, but other than that I agree. Fortress is still my favorite to play though.

The best town is what you are the best at and what is the map layout, time, and story. Tower is best for maps with lots of resources and a large or xl maps.

I don't agree with this list....many issues...i just put my list and probably most people will agree more: 1 Top tier towns - Castle, Dungeon, Stronghold - all three a bit different, but most players can't have issues with them, most universal towns to play. 2. Second tier Specific towns - Necropolis, Tower, Conflux - they might be overpower in specific maps, but they have some flaws too: Tower and Conflux(unbalanced) expensive, Necropolis - might be crashed by fraction with high morale and luck, because their units mostly are weaker. 3. Mid Tier- good towns, but they don't have huge bonuses. - Rampart, Fortress 4. Low Tier - Yes Inferno, demon rush tactic make some improvement, but overall is hard town to play for most players

What strategie u pick that town is best and artifacts all town are good but not balanced.But good strategie let u win.Without magic u can't win.It's not enought strenght.So i think the strongest town is Castle it's most balanced. Second can be Rampart-Tower.Third Necropolis.Fourth is Dungeon.Fifth is stronghold.And worst for me is conflux and Fortress.Because really fortress has no good magic,army maybe but not really good.The conflux is because the army but if u good play with it u can win easily because it's magic.That's just my opinion :)

Personally Inferno is pretty good and Stronghold is too (they can easily build their level 7 and level 6 units, you just need crystals)

Cyclops are one of the hardest lvl 6 units to build, 20 crystals is absurdly expensive and they are not that strong to justify the cost.

Towers is an all time favorite, but in terms of cost probably Stronghold is the easiest to rush, Necropolis due necromancy is good to rush in short maps, now, in long maps with much resources Dungeon, Castle and Tower. The thing with Conflux is that it seems broken because you can easy reach 2 Firebirds in the 1st week at a really cheap price, but in long maps all of those phoenixes won't be a problem for Titans, Black Dragons or Archangels. So it always depends on the map.

Very true. I mostly play in big maps so I like to use Tower and Castle, but in short maps Necro, Stronghold and Fortress are probably the best.

Conflux is the strongest on all maps. Necro is horrendously strong on BIG maps, while relatively weak on small ones (because of skeleton hoarding, of course).

Don't forget Resurrection. While Conflux has a very high growth of hitpoints per week most of them can't be resurrected, so in a long battle where you lose and recover lots of hitpoints they will surely lose. OTOH with Castle, Water Magic and Clone you hardly lose.

Your list is corect, since u probably took each town at face value. And Thats the way u should take them, and not just take crazy strategies in consideration like Undead Kloak or dragongeddon în their evaluation. But i feel like, if u take them at face value, its not quite corect since at face value necropolis(as vampire and dk are the best slot 4 and 6 plus litch which is solid, but the rest is trash pretty much) is weak and tower should probably be 3rd place. Since they have a pretty solid line-up, but not as solid as castle, and Yes, Conflux is broken for some reason.

True. Necropolis has very good lvl 6 and 4 creatures, probably the best out of all towns. Liches are great. skeletons are pretty good (with Necromancy you can get crazy stacks of those). The rest of the faction is pretty weak. But with their magic immunity thing and mostly solid creatures I think Necro is a pretty strong town. Tower is probably my favorite town to play, I love using shooters in combats and Tower has the most of them, but I do feel that castle is overall a more balanced town, and Necro and Conflux has all these magic immunity thing and special abilities (Phoniex's growth, Nercromancy, Vampires crazy ability).. I don't know much about the conflux creatures, but i do like to take the Conflux towns, build a university and learn my main Basic Earth, Water and or Air. This building alone makes it an incredible town.

Conflux is op coz their units have higher hp, tanky as non upgrades. Good attack skill n def skill though mediocre damage. Decent heroes

1. Dungeon mana vortex and black dragon freaking good 2. Rampart its good in early games and has only good units 3. Tower its expensive but has good heroes and units 4. Castle arch angel op 5. Necropolis necromany good skill and dread knight best level 6 also is vampire lords 6. Stronghold its good at defence and barbarians are gokd type of hereos + dessa which is a bit op 7. Conflux i dont like this town but phenoxis double growth and ressuration is really good 8. Fortress only good for defense 9. Inferno expensive and crap probley the only town which is shit

I agree with Rampart having only good units, and I love both Dungeon and Rampart, but they are definitely below Necropolis and Castle. Tower is expensive AND it has shit heroes. Fortress is easily better than Stronghold, it is actually an excellent town. Stronghold and Inferno are damage (might/power) focused towns and are hardest to control, they sit at the bottom even if I like them both. I don't like Castle and Conflux, but they are top 3 for sure, for me, Necro is the best

actually they are oftentimes the best because they get a really powerful t1 unit and good shooters at start which makes it easier to play on impossible at start. And their bank interest thing is extremely great on big maps

if you have in my opinion best castle strategy , water magic and clone and you go only with archangel (because Berserk) and every turn you use Resurrection with clone of archangel than castle is best (there is no way any hero would resurect as good as your archangel) but if not i would say Dungeon and Rampart are better mainly because 5 level mage guild Conflux isn't that great in my opinion , fenix are prety weak ( they are fast and that allows you to use spell first but attack with them is risky and you can easly lose some ) and most of your army you cann't resurect . It is best city to build gral in and maybe to start but i would use creatures from other city

It mainly depends on map, but generally Conflux has such a fast start that you can take over the map faster than Castle or any town. Similarly, depending on the map, Necro can build up so many skeletons that they become overwhelming. That said, Castle fares well in pretty much every map.

@@blainethemono19 usually it is easy since Archangels are strongest creaturs that you can buy in any city ( exept new city in horn of abyss and dimension portal in dungeon ) and when you clone 1 turn and wait and with clone attack strongest creaturs and at the end of the turn hit them with real archangels ( it isn't hard , in end game it is more or less about strongest reatur , and when you have only archangel you can move further) it depend on if you play pvp or pve , i admit Sprite is great in early game but when you 1 time lose them in late game it is imposible to keep them alive when i play necro i try to overwhelm them with vampir not with skeletons

Disagree. Stronghold is much better than Fortress. Rampart should be higher up, while Tower's and Dungeon's expensiveness makes them much worse than shown. Necropolis is stronger than Castle due to Necromancy, while Conflux is just plain OP. My list would be something like this. 9. Inferno 8. Inferno 7. Tower 6. Dungeon 5. Stronghold 4. Rampart 3. Castle 2. Necropolis 1. Conflux

Stronghold's first 4 units are garbage and you undrestimate fortress' defence and hp build. Other than that they are almost equally good but, i think fortress is slightly better. But i agree with your other points.

King Stannis Hm. First 3 yes, but not 4. Ogre Magis are beasts, combine them with expert haste and expert tactics (as you usually do playing Stronghold) and they are an amazing unit. Not sure man, Fortress basically don't have a shooter as Lizardmen are terrible... I would never put it above Stronghold. No chance IMO.

Fortress is the worst but can be a lot of fun especially with Mighty Gorgons. Inferno is okay but very boring to play. There's no strategy other than attack and that gets old real quick.

Fortress n stronghold are rush faction. They can their flying units at early which can farm resources n dwellings. But for long game, they suck. They can be manipulated by spells.

My list would be: 1.Necro (it's broke) 2.Tower (dominated homm2. Still fundamentally best in 3) 3.Conflux (by popular demand) 4.Castle (great, expensive af) 5.Dungeon (great speed and utility. All around balance) 6.Inferno (people hate but I won a lot of games with them) 7.Fortress (would be much higher if not held to level 3 guild) 8. Rampart (after centaurs they're trash) 9. Stronghold (try winning a vs with them. Try)

If on cheap you mean the 30 crystals just to get the basic level 6 and 7 creature dwellings than yeah,sure. 20 wood for ogres. Cyclopses are overrated,goblins and wolf raiders die way too fast. Rest is not impressive either.

yeah the dislikes shows that most people disagree with this list lol. Anyway this is my opinion, the towns are pretty much equal to each other, it depends alot on the strategy and the size of the map that you use and play. I don't like to play with Conflux but they are pretty OP. I mean the Phoniex's growth is twice the growth of other lvl 7 creautres. Many of them are immune to some kind of element magic and the lvl 2 creatures are really,really powerful.

True about all but the Phoenix is probably the weakest level 7 Unit in making damage .Also Units like the Green or Black dragon do the same work and they strike better than phoenix .But yeah phoenix is fastest unit with 21 speed in game however 200 lp while the dragons are 250-300.Also necropolis`s cloak can make liches and break the game cuz nothing can stops them or even more the vampires if your spells don`t hit.Anyway I will admit conflux is 1 of the strongest castles.Btw if you play WOG version you will see what means true necropolis when you use Dragolich

Thanks for the reply. I agree that Phoenix's are pretty weak compared to most lvl 7 creautures but their growth is twice the much of the other creatures, so you get for 1 dragon 2 phoenix's in around the same price, that is no joke. I never played the WOG version so I do not have my take on that. Anyway my new list will probably be : 1:Necro (tho I do think that the magic immunity factor can be a downside sometimes) 2:Conflux 3:Castle 4:Tower 5:Dungeon 6:Rampart 7:Stronghold 8:Fortress 9:Inferno But the towns are nearly equal to each other, like I said to me it depends alot on what strategy you use in the game.

Vampire lords are largely immortal,can have lot of level 1s,level 7 has usable special and level 5 and level 6 are among the best. Not that awful.

Detector1977 I agree with lvl 2 but are you kidding me about lvl 3 and lvl 7 ? Wraiths have regeneration and also mana draining with 7 Speed make them a threat against shooters and spell casters. Ghost dragons have bad stats but the Aging ability make them as deadly as the other lvl 7 units. Btw you should judge the town based on all aspects not just its creatures. The Necromancy ability is actually so broken that it has been nefted in the Horn of the Abyss addon. So Necropolis is not a bad town lol

I recently won a very small and resource-deprived map entirely because of some vampires (8-16). In the end I had only vampires, but the enemy could not bring them down! Vampires are definitely early game, you can have them upgraded first week. So Necro dominated early game, dominates late game - hard.. what an awful town!

Fortress lacks shooters and is a very slow town, but I believe that with the right stratagey they are pretty solid. Inferno has good level 7 and 6 units but kinda lacks in the rest imo. But Inferno has 5 level mage guild to Fortress 3, which is also a downside in Fortress..

Good level 7? Hydras are slow as hell, and without using a speed spell at the start(other spells might be more useful) they are out of combat for first turns. Unless enemy's units fly to you. Then their relatively low hp doom them. Well, after all, this is subjective list ;P
