Please help me please I need your guidance so bad. I want to get my BA from Thomas Edison State University as well. I already got a transcript from then of what classes and credits I need for a bachelor's in liberal arts. but how do I know what CLEPS, DSST, ETC exams to take? With the transcript it tells me the classes I need but how do I find out what tests are for that class sorry I don't know if that makes sense?so for example I need an oral communication 3 class how do you know what test from clep or dsst or other test places is the correct one to do to get those credits for oral communication? also how do you study for them where do you find the material to study for them and take the test? I hope you help me and clarify please I don't know who else to turn to nobody seems to know and I am lost. I'm super desperate because I'm running out of time to finish my bachelor's and I really need to do it. Thank you so much for your guidance

After enrolling in Thomas Edison State University, you email academicadvising@tesu.edu with your major, student ID#, and "need approval for degree plan" in the subject line. In the body, ask for confirmation that the CLEP, DSST, etc exams will fit into your degree plan, along with which and how many credits they will transfer as. They are usually very prompt in telling you. I don't take the exams randomly. I ask first and then proceed. You have to find your own study material based on the official exam breakdown and areas of study on the official test's website. I have some blog posts on my website from back then on which study materials I used to study for which exam. www.free-clep-prep.com is a website I sometimes referred to see if the exam was hard or not.

@@AnnieMargaritaYang ,Do you think credit by examination is doable? I know that I'm have to work my butt off. Is it difficult to find the study material? for me the one thing that scares me is how to find the study material. Thank you so much for helping me. I recently enrolled any program in uni but this option is not for me and I want to turn to credit by examination. I have until Tuesday to withdraw to get my refund or else I'm stuck thank you thank you for reaching out it really means a lot.

@@Moonlight50667 I did not have trouble finding study material. There is a lot of material out there to choose from today on the Internet, like Khan Academy, crash course on KZbin, test prep books that have practice questions, REA practice tests, the actual textbooks you would read in an equivalent class in college, InstantCert flashcards, wikipedia, etc. Just make sure to read the official exam's exam breakdown and areas of study to make sure you are studying the right stuff and keep taking practice tests to find your weak spots. There is also a forum www.degreeforum.net you can read to see what everyone else who followed my method did. Everyone on that site tested out of college. The problem wasn't a lack of study resources but rather developing the ability to discern whether a study material was the right one to go with (which a professor would figure out for you). But this is actually a good skill to develop on your own. I have found it helped me in my post-college life in doing research for anything I wanted to get better at. Learning to study any topic on my own eventually helped me land my accounting job with no accounting degree/credentials.

She certainly made a good video on "testing out" for college credit. In middle age, I earned a college degree through the Excelsior College she mentioned by "testing out" for various credits through AP, CLEP and other exams at great savings. The whole idea of going into a home mortgage sized college debt is INSANE! She really has the right idea!

Personally, I don't think college is necessary, nor a good option for most people. If you want to learn software, there are many free sources online. Or learn a trade such as auto mechanic, HVAC repair, installation. Most people have no idea if being an accountant, engineer or any number of the corporate professionals is truly what they want in life. Many of those jobs can be quite miserable.

How do you go about studying for a CLEP or DSST exam? Looking to get credits for calculus 1 and 2.
@AnnieMargaritaYang3 жыл бұрын
I would google the test name with "CLEP" or "DSST" + "study resources". You'll find what topics the exam covers on the official website and you'll need to design your own curriculum from there, whether its YT videos, Khan Academy, textbooks, etc. Then take practice tests from REA and keep practicing your "weak areas" from the practice tests.

Do you mean to take your credits from your state university and transfer to Thomas Edison? Thomas Edison takes practically anything. Or do you mean get credit for taking tests and transfer from into your regular state university? That part you'll need to check first with your school.

Hi, can you recommend one from those programs. Specifically, for someone who wants to have college credits while at the second semester of grade 12 , and who is also about to graduate. Is it still possible to have credits at this point?
@AnnieMargaritaYang2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashley, I can't recommend a particular one because you'll have to look into the future college you attend before deciding to do these. The reason is because you don't want to take these exams only to find out the college you enroll in doesn't even take them in as transfer credits. Some colleges are more generous, some take them up to a maximum limit, some won't take them at all.

It is better, but this method is for if you want to graduate faster and for cheap. I went to community college, but couldn't stand the idea of 4 years. So I did community college and what I talked about in my video at the same time. Graduated with my bachelors the same year as my associates.

Would CLEP & DSST have compatible testing material?

Do you mean study material? If you do mean study material, no. There is a forum where people share what resources they used: www.degreeforum.net/mybb/
@elenadarling46974 жыл бұрын
Annie Margarita Yang Awesome! Highly appreciated. 💞 By study material being compatible. I meant that if you go to a CLEP testing center and then the next day you go to DSST for the same subject, wondering if the CLEP material you learned will translate to the DSST- will it be enough for you to pass DSST without buying a DSST workbook . If this is still not clear don’t mind me haha Thanks for replying and offering more resources. 💋
@AnnieMargaritaYang4 жыл бұрын
@@elenadarling4697 I'm not sure because I never tried doing that because I passed every test on the first try and never had to switch from one to the other. I would assume if you know the subject enough, you should be able to answer questions on either test. It doesn't hurt to take a practice test of the other one before taking the real one.
