I remember going to Blockbuster every few weekends and renting movies with my family. My Dad would check out the game section and rent an SNES game for us every once in a while. I remember us renting games such as Killer Instinct, Lion King, Mechwarrior, Judge Dredd, but the most impressive was Doom. At the time, I had never seen anything like it because of it's graphics and gameplay. That was like a major turning point in my life for gaming. 5yrs later, I found a copy of it at Ebgames, and even to this day, I dig out my SNES and make a playthrough of it once a year

It really was a golden age of a certain type of gaming. While they were simple compared to today's titles, a lot of these hold to the test of time. I still play DKC 1 & 2 to this day

Killer Instinct was such a staple for me at the time, me and my older brothers drooled over this game and Mortal Kombat, and the fact that KI came with the soundtrack with the snes cartridge was mind blowing! I never had it personally but I remember someone recorded the soundtrack on a cassette tape from the cd and handed it to me, I listened to that tape in my mom's car all the time!

The year is 1995, I'm six years old. I just finished eating my stuffed crust pizza, but we don't really rent games that often. Instead I'm playing final fantasy 4, except back then everyone thought it was 2. Little did I know that I was only a few years away from using our very rare video game rental time to choose to rent: *dun dun DUUUUUUN* Superman64. God damn, I was so confused. It really does still haunt me to this day.

when I rented DKC3 for the first time, that's when I found out that you can go over 100%, because in the rented game it had a 105% save game, and it was the first time I saw Krematoa island and the Gyrocopter, unforgettable

I used to go to Blockbuster as a child and rent a game every Friday night. I must have been about 7 or 8. One particular game didn’t have a cover, only the standard Blockbuster box that with the logo wrapping around the package. I didn’t know what it entailed but I really liked the title. The game was Silent Hill. I didn’t get past the intro cause the music scared me to death.

I think it was about 1995 that I stayed at my grandparents' house for a weekend and rented Demon's Crest for the SNES. Literally all I did for a few days straight was play that game and draw pictures of it when my grandparents wanted me to do something else. I'm sure they were concerned with my obsessing over a game about demons in hell, but it remains one of my fondest memories and favorite games to date. Thank you Nana and Papa :)

My big 1995 rental was Chrono Trigger. I rented it from the local Hollywood video, proceeded to play it for something like 12 hours straight, and I was so enraptured that I ended up buying it at the closest video game retailer. It's been my favorite video game since then, and I have rental stores to thank for that.

I randomly got Judge Dredd for my birthday in 95 from a friend. I got the Genesis version, but they’re essentially the same game. At first, it’s hard to get used to and I died more times than Ghouls and Ghosts. But eventually, I figured out the level designs and how to use the weapons. It took some time, but I eventually beat it….. and never played it again.
