Awesome the first place has local live music playing also! Great Oahu series Jaycation! Loving it! So glad you’re showcasing local foods and some famous places like Helena’s. The thing you said you didn’t know what it was looks like haupia pudding (coconut). Ted’s is freaking dangerous dude - their haupia chocolate pie is to have daily! Ilikai hotel was the first to sell condos for only $5k each when I was little(1960’s). My mom thought no one would live in a cement Bldg so we missed out!!!!! Your pronunciation is perfect! (From Oahu so making me homesick too bruddah!)

You and Felix work well together, sorry Amanda wasn't feeling well. Great video - miss the islands. Went to a local "tiki" restaurant yesterday in Colorado (Swaylo's) and taught our server how to say "musubi" the Hawaiian way - he was actually grateful for the info. They also had ahi poke' which was pretty simple, but the fish was very fresh tasting (was previously frozen so a little soft, but nice anyways - told him lots of poke in Hawaii was also frozen, although the best quality is fresh, of course). Thanks for the video. Hope to get back someday - the years are passing quickly.

Swaylos is close but I’ve not been yet. Do you recommend?
@sharonknorr1106 Жыл бұрын
@@trainingxtrish We do like Swaylos, but it is not really like Hawaii. The kalua pig,for one, does not taste like I remember in the iislands or even how I make it. Their menu is kind of a mash-up of Hawaiian and Caribbean. But the food is pretty good and the drinks are great. There used to be a more authentic place in Windsor called Okole Maluna, which I got a kick out of, but it closed during the pandemic and never reopened.
