Whats a good way to get through double teams. My son sometimes has 2 to 3 people blocking him, making him tired and hard for him to get tackles

Tell him to keep his feet driving and hold his ground. Because if 2 people are blocking him that leaves another dude unblocked to make the play. And as long as he isn’t getting taken out the play he still should be good.

You rip through the gap and push through it. Choose the weaker smaller guy to attack. You can't fight 2 so pick one.

All of these people are wrong. There’s 4 methodology to defeating a double. One is simply get vertical and steer the man your on until your hips are in the gap. Another, is more advanced and you have to be able to read the type of block your getting, and know within the scheme if you can work A to B, or B to A, in the situation where you can “pick your gap” then you can see the run block or arc block and use the linemen’s momentum against them to get yourself into an advantageous position. I.e if man one comes at you head down and fast club and tight swim over top get hips in gap or if man one just lends an arm but looks away shoot for his hip and get through the gap, or if man one comes level and the other comes hard work over top of man two into next gap. This is heavily dependent on defensive scheme. Method 3 is just the bucket of blood mentality, you simply grab a guy go down and make a pile, done right this will close two gaps and cause a TFL with the other linemen or LBs. method 4 is being able to drop yourself low enough without losing leverage, behind able to shed on one knee as you split the block this is extremely hard and athletically challenging against good offensive linemen. My recommendation is method one for most youth orhigh school athletes that are good, option 3 for youth athletes that aren’t great. And 2/4 for college/pro.
