I like games where the tutorial is sort of leaning on the intuitiveness, it tells you what to do right at the start, but not how to do it, or only tells you the vague idea of how to do it, since it respects your intelligence and just makes good design decisions so you can figure it out

This looks very nice. All recipies being visible from the beginning and crafting not taking time are two things that unnecessarily increase the grind factor in many such games.

another idea for the "mine" system, it could work similar to stardew valley/graveyard keeper etc where each level is randomly generated and you have to find the way down to the next level as it progressively gets harder and loot gets higher quality. with the top down aesthetic of this game, it would suit that!

Ya know, instead of wooden pickaxes and axes, would think "Emergency tools" would make more sense, like yes they can be terrible still but makes more sense from a shipwreck pov

I think, vis-a-vis tutorials, too many games teach you WASD, E to interact etc, and hold your hand through it, then don't teach you the actual big differences between them and similar games, or how to do specific complex things that doing tutorials just feels like needless railroading, and so when a game actually does tutorialise something unique and important, you instinctively skip it, or resent it if it's forced.

I feel like Games need to start asking if you've played a game before because it is kind of a requirement in case it's the first game you've ever played that you know how to move and interact, etc. But if you've played other games, you don't need that.

Gaia Project is an excellent board game. But it’s a typical euro 3x: lots of paths to victory, steep learning curve.

i agree to a lot of critiques you made here and am hopefull looking for the devs to fix some of them and add a little more to it but i think calling the map empty might be fair after exploring more but doesnt seem to be appropriate if you havent done a lot of that in this vid you just dipped your toes into other biomes to snatch the upgrades so there might be more also quickstack seems to protect your hotbar from stuff getting removed so that one might be less of an issue once you have your storage set up

2:10 Meanwhile, I am sitting here wondering why you never tried to use a pickaxe on the stumps.. You saw there are 2 different tooltips indicating either wrong tool or correct tool, but too low tier.. Later you build a workbench and see there isn't a shovel for digging up stumps, which means the pickaxe is most likely the intended tool.. I never heard of this game until this video and have yet to play it.. I am interested in playing it though..

yeah, there's a good few parallels... Starting NPC is the Guide... Boss summoner that summons a Slimeking... Not that terraria has full rights to those sorts of concepts, but there comes a point where they're stretching it a bit.

What could help the mining / chopping it could be like terraria on console you can do spasific tiles when you click R3 and click R3 again so you destroy evarything that ONLY the axe can destroy when you hover your cursor in that general direction that would help with mining/chopping more fluently then haveing to constaly hover over them all?

few things that would help the game along in my opinion and speed into being popular. 1. it could use a char creator, mostly so no.2 can work well. 2. multiplayer, this kind of game could benefit from it 3. probably should make a way to have a class going on by gear if insist on no experience leveling. Just simply because if its gonna rain this many projectiles, melee players need a way to be able to survive up close and personal fight so it don't turn into a "go range and don't look back". 4. not needed but a bestiary to help with knowing what can drop from enemies and bosses, so as to not end up guide heavy, reveal to you only if you had beaten that enemy/boss least once. This way they can decide for themselves if something is worth farming. 5. Maybe when interacting with chop/mine able objects, it auto use the right tools, lazy i know but useful for players having trouble seeing what they running into. I know I shouldn't expect much but all these things would help it a lot.

I like sfx more than music while playing game, so for me is 80% music 90% sfx and 100% character voice if the game have. but I will buy the game ost and listen all the time while I'm outside.

If you like music like this I'd recommend Terraria calamity mod ost the music's can be a vibe or be a banger with its music preferably look for playlists so it has all of them from biomes to bosses and their 1+2+3 phase music

"legs" well, I know this is odd but here's a fun fact Starfish have been genetically tested and the "Body" including legs fall off when they become adults, leaving just the head. The tentacles of the Starfish grow from the muscles that were the back / sides of it's face... Calling them legs makes way more sense and is less creepy though.

Wanders tutorial type being SHOW me don't TELL me is always something that games should give the option for [show me being along the lines of put things in the game play that allows me to learn what to do as opposed to the Tell me of Do this to do this]

Love the graphics. And the gameplay. I wish it will be as deep as terraria tho. Idc if it's a copycat of it and necesse and otehr indie survival games. WE NEED MORE OF THEM ANYWAY.

It seems the game uses environmental hints for things. You passed some bushes shaped like an arrow pointing towards another bush that was glowing at 1:03:27. And I'm wondering what's there. Also the in game quest was mentioning a cave, so there might actually be some more points of interest, but you may not have found them yet. But typically a lot of these games start off a lot more empty but with feed back and updating fills out a bit more, well at least the some do. Like terraria was fairly empty on release but had a substantial amount added over the years.

Though I do know you are just giving out critics and such to point out what the games may need. Hopefully the game does get some more attention it seems to have a fairly good foundation so far

Omg I absolutely _LOVED_ Digimon World, and I share your longing for it. Did you ever see/try Digimon World: Next Order? Most of the reviews, iirc, were saying it was very akin to the first World. I've yet to try it out, so I can't say much more on it

@@wanderbots , a little sad hearing they didn't nail the vibe. I was really hoping it was going to be 1+ with better digivolutions and contemporary QoL, but still don't know if it's not just that. I appreciate the feedback! I might try it out one day, if they don't make a better successor to 1 before that time.
