One of the best small black assembly videos I have seen, excellent work. Thumbs up on the emphasis and importance of lube prior to first start.

Helps a WHOLE LOT when they have a $55,000 engine dyno in a $15M building that none of them paid for. Jacked up prices by Jegs and Summit and other smaller sponsors are how they stayed on the air as long as they did.

5:50 Why do this putty thing when you can use yur degree wheel for positioning and just push down on the rocker and measure that distance ?

I always thought that ARP recommended no lube under the washer just between the washer and the head of the nut or bolt

.015 +.040 is not enough quench try and get it down to .030 total open up around the valves if necessary , you did match the combustion chambers to the bore as flow does not like to hit the top of the block

10 to 1 is not the limit on pump gas I have run 11.5 to one on 93 no problem and with better carb and AFR heads that would be a beast all though the summit heads are not that bad

I just watched a vid of a dude doing this in 4:53 secs y’all making this seem intimidating as hell I’m tryna take a week of vacation off work and do it but this is crazy i don’t think the extra horsepower is even worth all that plus all these bs tools you guys got. I think imma just put it together and do the best I can do.

Didn't Joe and Chuck previously build a 383 stroker back in the late '90s?

Dont whack them on a steel table like he did,! Why ? Because you could bend the intake valve, because one side is VERY close to the table !

Can you build a 383 stroker for me If I got the motor
@PeggyParrow4 ай бұрын
Longer bolts need more torque..why ? There is more metal to streach, on Sbcs. I do this, 1st all at 30 ft. Lbs then 50, then 65, then 7 long bolts 75ft. Lbs end 2 medium length at 70 why ? Because its not all about torque, but rather clamping pressure, this way clamping pressure is more even . Make sense ?

7:13 if this was true there would be no use for sodium filled valve stems !!
@nojunkwork57359 ай бұрын
You can measure the combustion chamber volume all you want, but since you didn't correct the piston height in each cylinder it's a waste of time.
@luckyPiston6 ай бұрын
Yup , true blue printing they would have checked piston to deck on all 4 corners to confirm true straightness of deck to crank. another step left out of the short block build.

I would be so sad if my 383 made 450hp when a 6.0 Ls with a cam will make 550+

Get rid of that garbage carb it's a bottleneck. We made 425 HP and 509 TQ with a 383, 9.0-1 compression, Vortex heads mild hydraulic roller and a QJ carb with headers.

Lapping the valves in is so not a good way for performance... the purpose for a.multiple angle valve job is to control the width of the seat and lapping the valves make way to wide of a seat and that is a good way to burn a valve seat especially the exhaust valves and a wide seat doesn't flow well at all

Literally the only engines swapped into classics, muscle, imports, even exotics. No one wants a Ford swapped anything. Maybe a Hemi swapped import but for the money the LS, LT is just better. This was a reliable build not a performance build. There was no tuning involved and they made good use of cheap parts
