For about $125 more get the Performance Center version. You get a trigger job titanium insert bushing and all around d tighter fit. It's as close to a custom gun you can get with out the price tag. My bobtail PC cost me $1300. Now they are about 1500 and an E series is just under that.

I've had all of them except for Nighthawk. IMO, Ed Brown hands down. Les Baer can be sloppy on its finishing, and the slides are hell to open for at least hundreds of rounds. I think that the barrel is actually fit TOO tightly to the slide. Wilson makes a great gun, but I agree with YM on the design features. Plus, they're flooding the market with them since their expansion, and I'm foreseeing their prices going down some accordingly. That being said, they are as well fit and constructed as any out there. Ed Brown just combines refinement, shootability and excellent fit and finish, at a lower price than Nighthawk. I'd love a NHC Border Patrol commander, though!

I agree! the Night Hawk Falcon is a work of art. The tapered slide you speak of is called the Hi-Power cut. Popularized by the cut in the Browning Hi-power. For out and out accuracy, none beat the Les Baer. As far as advertising smarts, Mr. Les told me that he doesn't want more business. He feels that they get all they can handle without expanding and he fears the results of expanding would by lowering the quality. Never mentioned by anyone is that Les Baer has their own foundry. They control every step of the manufacturing. They are the only ones who do. Now that is custom! KnifeMaker

Hi! I been a 1911 addict for over a decade and owned every "semi-custom" brand. There is a lot of value in "Custom" or "Caspian" 1911's. Many are built by the same gunsmiths that worked at the big name brands. The 1911addicts marketplace is an excellent place to snag deals. The downside is there is no warranty, that will come out of your own pocket. Look into Guncrafter Industries and Alchemy Custom's they are not as wide known as NH and WC. If you have a $4k budget I would reccomend taking a gunsmithing class, you will learn everything about the 1911 and have a gun thats better than any semi custom. These are guns that can shoot < 1.5" at 50 yards. You will also have the knowlege to maintain and work on your own guns. I did small jobs for free, trigger tune up, installing safety, sights etc. Every enthusiast that took the class (like me) wished we did it sooner. Its much more rewarding than even owning a $8000 gun (I had a SVI Infinity I sold to take the class)

Sorry, none of the guns you’ve listed are “custom” 1911s. Semi custom at best. GI has long replaced Uncle Les in the standings of the big four of semi custom makers as well. Setting a $4k budget for a true custom is the absolute bottom end. If you want to talk true custom guns, up your ante and look at Burton, Chen, Rogers, Rodgers, Jardine, Yost, Biondo, Marvel, Reid, Christiansen, Chambers, Owens, or a host of others. Then prepare for the wait. Or really pony up to buy a gently loved safe queen built by those listed above. Then there are the guns built by the Godfather’s of 1911 smiffin. Guys like Hoag or Swenson. I agree with you on many things, “custom” 1911s are not one of those topics.

How do you feel about Dan Wesson is it tactical classic or is it just the production gun ??
@jericho22819993 жыл бұрын
Ok lets talk for real. Yankee Marshal just released a lazy ass list of "Custom Guns." This is at least a 10 year old list (zzzzz.) of customs most of which have designs comparable to a 500$ 1911. If you're spending 3k+ on a custom gun, maybe you dont want your custom to look like a rock island armory, or have the list of examples be so out of style you feel like taking a viagra when you're shooting one. Here are some real nice custom shops for current 1911s: 1 Alchemy Custom Weaponry- nods to classic styling, exquisite craftsmanship but some of the best bang for back for any custom shop you can find. "1911 snob heaven" 2 Cabot Customs- alchemy's sister company , some really out of the box stuff here, but precision craftsmanship and a little flash for your money. Maybe you like to show off a little- this is your gunsmith. Talked about as the "Ferrari of custom 1911's" 3 Volkmann Precision- some mindblowingly beautiful guns built by a 1 man shop (support small business!) 4. Heirloom Precision- Get yourself a Jason Burton gun while you can, these pistols are some of the nicest in the industry, he has a very limited availablity 5. Guncrafter Industries- the definition of "CUSTOM" Everything is custom here, and you have to know your P's and Q's to order because you're calling all the shots. That being said, you can get the exact pistol of your dreams, custom fit, custom finish. Unreal product. 6. AccuracyX- another great custom shop that has some great styling and excellent craftsmanship 7. Infinity Firearms- SVIGUNS.com if you want way over the top stuff and dont mind spending the money these guys will work with you. Everything is over the top, anything can be done- for a price. For the shooter that wants an absolute 1 of a kind. 8. Stan Chen- good luck getting an order in, but these are one of a kind heirloom quality. 9. Ted Yost- See above. 10. Nighthawk- most of the lazy list you saw on this channel, nighthawk makes some great mostly-custom guns. You'll always have a great gun here, but most of the shops listed above can give you a really nice personalized custom for about the same money. This shop leans more towards mass production than individual craftsmanship, even if they say "1 gun 1 gunsmith." 11. Ed Brown, Wilson and Les Baer- Yes these are some great guns. For the money you spend, you can get something a lot more fun if you hit some of the listed shops above.

To not include a Wilson is a crime. I EDC an EB Kobra Carry and compete in Defensive Pistol Matches with a Wilson Combat Protector - both in .45ACP. Les Baer has horrible customer service and his pistols are not fit properly out of the box (you have to spend a fortune "breaking it in"). Every Wilson and Ed Brown I've had shoots perfectly right out of the box. Nighthawks are nice...but they are a slightly lesser version of Wilsons. I:want a custom fitted Caspian with a Damascus upper and stainless lower and Damascus hammer with snakeskin or fish scales. Ed Brown barrel, Wilson Combat internals. In 9 mm and a 2011 Cut to accommodate an optic. Staccato would be my first choice in a commander model straight from the factory.

You should split up and build two more channels to focus on the specific topics, gun, politics, ... . KZbin algorithm does not like mixing up content and does not boost your videos, subs

These guns are not custom guns. These are semi custom 1911's. True custom made 1911's are built on Springfield or Colt base guns or Caspian frame and slide sets or jem frame and slide sets. On a true custom 1911 you can spec every brand of part any front strap treatment you like any finish you like examples of these would be evolution armory, derr precision, heirloom precision, reid custom pistol smithing, integrity arms, business end customs, Rogers precision, bunker arms, Ted Yost at estate sporting limited, and the list goes on and on. Guns made by these makers start at around $4,000 and go up to $10,000 plus. Wilson, Ed brown, nighthawk, guncrafter industries, les baer are all semi-custom. You can't spec your parts brand, pick your barrel brand such as kkm or barsto, or kart, and you can't do a lot of other things you can on a full custom. There is a big difference.
