Top Five Game of Thrones Locations (Northern Ireland)

Northern Ireland is home the Game of Thrones studio (in Belfast) for all the interior sets and many exterior locations. They are (in no particular order):
1) Carrick-a-rede and Larrybane (Viewpoint)
Larrybane, meaning ‘the ancient white site’, is classic Storms End - with panoramic views of the limestone cliffs and ocean. It hosted several key scenes, including the journey in which Brienne beats Ser Loras and is given a place in Renly’s Kingsguard as a reward.
2) Ballintoy
Still a working harbour for local fishermen, Ballintoy doubled as Lordsport Harbour (The Iron Islands) and the homecoming of Theon Greyjoy after ten years in Winterfell.
3) Cushendun
It was in the caves at Cushendun that the Game of Thrones crew filmed the dramatic scene from Season Two in which Davos Seaworth, on the orders of Lord Stannis, takes the sorceress Melisandre ashore where she gives birth to a shadowy baby.
4) The Dark Hedges
The Dark Hedges, an avenue of beech trees thought to be 300 years old, were the backdrop of Arya Stark’s escape from King’s Landing.
5) Cairncastle, Ballygally
It was here that Ned Stark beheaded the Night’s Watch deserter, witnessed by Jon Snow, Theon Greyjoy, and the Stark brothers Robb and Bran; and where Catelyn captures Tyrion Lannister whom she suspects of trying to kill her son. When Bran, Rikon, Osha, and Hodor head north to The Wall it is also from the land above Cairncastle that they take a last look back at Winterfell.

A sad thing about the Dark Hedges is that damage is being done to the roots of the trees by increased vehicle traffic. And people have actually carved their names into the trees. Several trees have fallen in storms, due to being weakened by root exposure. :(

Vehicles are prohibited on the lane, so there is no traffic. There is a lot of names carved into the trees. Some trees look to be cut down but it is not clear why they have been cut down. Maybe storm damage.

FYI FOR FOREIGN VISITORS: Give yourself a few free days to travel to these places, the weather is incredibly varied throughout the weeks, even in summer. If there's a strong wind, rain or fog; it will completely prevent you from enjoying 99% of outdoor attractions! Rope bridges, cliffs and some hill climbs will be completely shut down and cancelled on these days. Although there are drivable roads at the dark hedges, it's recommended that you park nearby and walk. Increased car traffic has damaged the roots of the trees and many of them have fallen as a consequence. AND PLEASE; DO NOT CARVE OR MARK THE TREES! They're older than the United States! If you're in Dublin, most locals aren't going to know the exact location if you use their names from the tv show... Especially if they're old, we've had a lot of confusion in our pub about whether the show was based on a true story 😂 I wish I was kidding

What about Dunluce Castle? It represents the House of Greyjoy in GoT. It was one of my favorite locations when I visited Northern Ireland. I absolutely recommend it.

I’m sorry but nobody ever talked about the dark hedges until a few years ago when they became famous on some tv show and now they are worried about them being damaged! It’s a bit like when Northern Ireland government spent millions decorating shop fronts and painted on windows and flower boxes along the whole north coast right into Belfast because of a 2 hour televised cycle race what did they call it again ? Yeah exactly!
