This video reminded me of the very reason why I started playing TF2 - The spy A lure for a lot of people tired of conventional shooters, the idea of playing as someone who can become invisible and appear to be the enemies teammate seemed like a wonderful idea. Only one problem - the class I that attracted me to TF2 is also the most difficult class to play effectively in an already quite a complicated game.

But even then there is still so much to learn in that game on your first play through. But my suggestion for newcomers (if there is any these days) is either start in peaceful mode or stay close to a village when night comes, depending on which version you're playing.

I'd like to nominate The Witness as an honorary #6 spot. Yes, it starts off simple enough and you get the idea of what to do from the early puzzles, but then new rules get added with no explanation and it can be a challenge to learn what the new symbols signify.

Man, Shadow of the Colossus was SO GOOD! I haven't had the chance to get my hands on the remake yet, but I played through the original way back when, and loved it the whole way. I knew something was off early on, with making a deal with a shadow demon, but I didn't think much afterwards... until I got to the first flying Colossus. It was just peacefully minding its own business, floating around rather majestically, ignorant to me climbing all over it most of the time... until I send it crashing into the ground... wounded and dying having done really nothing to actively attack me like the others before then. And it felt horrible. I had to take a break after that. That first flying Colossus really hit home what I was doing and how it was... bad.

There are few Puyo Puyo games that properly explain everything you need to know about making chains, which is to say giving damage to another player, which is how you win. There are a lot of games in the series, too, and the only games that really have good tutorials, at least out of the ones i know of, are Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary and Puyo Puyo Champions. The latter is such a weird game to the point that is has no singleplayer campaign (one of the only games to lack one, btw) and the tutorial is the closest thing to one. It explains things extremely well, but is a 3-hour tutorial. 20th Anniversary also teaches things well and has an Endless Practice mode to practice chains. This gets frustrating with Puyo Puyo Tetris, tho, which has a tutorial, but again, this is one of the many Puyo games that doesn't explain everything you need to know, and if this is your first Puyo game (or Tetris game, for that matter), good luck.

In defense of Xenoblade Chronicles X (the honorable mention based on the transition music): the game's manual that was put into the game explains a lot of the actually important stuff rather than the bare minimum like the in-game tutorials. Granted, I can't really blame anyone for not really thinking to look at it because "who the hell reads manuals anymore?" but I think that's the reason the manual is actually a part of the game's Pause Menu.

TF2 is definitely a mess for newbies. There is a way to act as a "Coach" by clicking a button and getting into a queue where it matches you to someone looking for help, but even that was broken by Casual servers (you cannot join one directly, you must be placed there as a Casual player) making it so you can't actually help anyone with it. And if you somehow get into a session with a student, all you can do is put arrows over things you want them to shoot, look at, or defend. I gave up on Coaching long ago, now I just hunt down the newbies in the wild and teach them directly.

That "reduced" price for the Raycon headphones seems like your typical Black Friday scam to me that a lot of stores do at that time of year = making the normal prices shoot up shortly before Black Friday so that even with reduced prices they can make more money on each single item than they usually would. Because when I last went and looked at wireless earphones in September even the ones with the highest prices were still below 70 without any price reductions.

People seem to forget that the original Zelda came with an instruction manual. It was a 46 page book that provided backstory, hints, what weapons do, what enemies do, and how to get to the first and second dungeon. They didn't have space to put it in the game, so the gave you a book.

Pokémon has a lot of obtuse hidden mechanics that you'll never know about without looking them up online, like IVs and EVS. But what's even worse is the basic, nigh mandatory information the games refuses to divulge, like base stats, movepools and evolution methods. It's kind of insane that a 20-year old franchise still hasn't bothered to tell its players the most basic aspects of their monsters.

From my remedial knowledge, I think the Wizardry series of games has a history of explaining nothing. Apparently, they're rather complicated RPG dungeon crawlers with alignments, resource management, separate gold for characters you can pool together, and very easy to get lost in. I've only scratched the surface of Labyrinth of Lost Souls on the PS3, and I don't remember if there even was a tutorial. I think there's some text but compared to other RPG's, the game is more than willing to spawn mobs of enemies five levels higher than you on the first floor of the first dungeon, and even has an enemy 12 levels higher than you behind a door of no return with nothing but a vague warning on the floor that "some doors aren't meant to be opened."

X-Men 2: Clone Wars starts (and by starts I mean as soon as you power up your console) with you, with a random character, in front of a tank. If you just sit there it'll shoot you and run you over for a decent amount of health. If you sit there MORE it just takes you to the start screen. When you press start on the start screen it restarts you on the first stage with a random character! Anyway that's after the devs softened up. The prequel required you to restart the game a few stages in. These people weren't making licensed games they were making fucking performance art.
