In case you wonder why Thracia 776 was released the way it did, it can all be traced back to Shozou Kaga, the creator of Fire Emblem, let's just say he went insane somewhere in the late 90's and forgot how to run a company and how to do simple marketing.

I would really enjoy a remake of FE6. I'm in the minority of people who really liked that game (more so than fan favorites like Genealogy and Sacred Stones) and I want to play that game with...more balanced gameplay mechanics. Making Axes not useless would be a good first step.

Thing is, for a console, the WiiU’s numbers are basically in the category of “nobody bought it” In fact it’s generally agreed it’s a failure I personally disagree with that, but that’s likely bias because I actually love the WiiU. In the end, you can’t argue with numbers

While Warframe is an excellent F2P once you get yourself established, it's hard to get a good footing with it. DE doesn't start you out with much, and an MR 0-3 probably isn't gonna be grinding relics for prime parts to sell. Weapon and Warframe slots add up, as well as any of the color palettes, considering you only get a single column of one palette to start with.

I was pretty excited to see Panzer Dragoon Saga at #1. As apparently one of the few lucky people that had a Saturn and managed to get a copy, I can definitely say it ranks in my top 5 RPG's of all time and for the time was easily one of the most engrossing ones around. It was also just felt wildly different from the vast majority of other JRPG's of the time in terms of systems and freeroaming and there was an incredible amount of secrets all over the game. It was such a disappointment to never get a follow-up to such a well realized game or even the PD series in general. Plus it had the added bonus of reselling for $150-200 for most of its lifespan (and I'm sure it's even higher now for NM copies)!

"hurr durr lets grab master ballz and catch stuff with them seems good rite guys???" hell, they did even worse in johto, where their entire plan was to... get a leader????????????? not even plotting world domination? tsk tsk shoutouts to Aqua/Magma for having interesting plans but being complete idiots and using the wrong legendary (in Emerald at least). galactic and flare were probably the most successful - they had good plans that they got actually really fucking close to executing. plasma in b/w sorta failed in every regard, but at least they had a purpose. plasma in b2/w2 actually pulled off their plan to some extent, it just wasn't as good of a *plan* as galactic/flare. skull just didn't have a plan, so uhh. aether foundation was interesting. release a bunch of super-powerful otherworldly pokemon into the world to cause mass havoc? sure, go ahead. -free exp for me- too bad they... y'know, didnt actually cause much havoc. and in usum it just seems like Necrozma was the evil team all along tbh so do we even consider this game???

Honorable Mentions: Demon's Crest & Psychonauts. Both are cult classics now, but neither of them sported good sales numbers at the time of their release. If you count sales outside of Japan, you can add Earthbound & Final Fantasy IV to the list. Those 2 were smash hits in their home country, but low sales numbers internationally is why the Final Fantasy series stayed mostly domestic up until VII & why the Mother series stayed that way until recently.

WIIBOX4 Psyconauts initially only sold less than 100k copies, but by 2015 had sold a total of nearly 2 Million copies. In comparison, Little King's Story is considered one of the best Wii games ever and sold less than 17k copies. Zack & Wiki was another highly-rated and genuinely good Wii game and only sold 36k copies. These and dozens of other games I can list (most not for the Wii) should probably be on the list before Psychonauts.

Legend of Dragoon, produced in house by Sony Computer Entertainment, with a six year development cycle, was an amazing and underrated game. It suffered from a similar fate to Panzer Dragoon in the fact that it was released with little to no publicity into the JRPG market in the same year as a Final Fantasy game. Legend of Dragoon was released around the same time as Final Fantasy IX, and, in spite of having a unique story, innovative combat system, and beautiful visuals for the time, it was overshadowed into obscurity by the titan that is Final Fantasy.

Honorable mention, The World Ends With You. That game is fucking fantastic, yet so underrated. And yes I know it is getting a re-release on the Switch but honestly, in my opinion, if it were given better marketing and support by Square during it's initial release, then we'd have an actual definitive sequel by now instead of 10 years having gone by and only having a crappy phone port and an anticipated Switch reboot/extension to show for it. Also Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an amazingly unique and charming little game and it's great and I'm sad that more people haven't played it.

I'm not surprised that Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure isn't on the list. There's only so much room after all. Anyway, RT is such a good game that was for the 3DS. You could roam around Paris like in Professor Layton, but instead of puzzles, you played rhythm games. The characters are so good and unforgettable, but it seemed like Sega just didn't give the marketing it needed. T-T They even left part of it on a cliffhanger and we've been wanting a sequel. High praise from critics, but just left in the dust with the others.

As someone that was genuinely hyped about Okami and actually nagged his game store about the game nonstop, let me tell you a little something that people don't often say about Okami. It is, through most of its playthrough, *very boring.* Yes, it is nice and it feels good to play it, and it's one of the best-looking (and sounding) games ever made, but I never felt like I was actually accomplishing anything in Okami. Combat is so easy I think I could sit on my controller and my ass could win most fights, and the Ink powers felt more gimmicky than genuinely satisfying. There is little exploration, and little reason to actually explore. It's not a game for everyone, and it will never be.

What about Odin Sphere on the PS2? It had great reviews all across the board and it was released at a pretty good time (May 17, 2007) on the PS2. But, like all Atlus games, Odin Sphere fell into obscurity. Which is a damn shame because it's fucking fantastic! As an aside, I feel like this list could be filled with nothing but Atlus games. They're all great, but they sell like shit.
@wingedmirage42266 жыл бұрын
Yuki Nitta oh yeah I love that game. It's hard and has a strange and very grind heavy level up system though, not to mention so much lag, which is probably why it didn't take off. I've heard the remake of it fixes most of these problems though
@NEETKitten6 жыл бұрын
The grinding is easily fixed by buying an item that doubles exp gained from fights available near the start of each character's story, and the lag is to be expected when you have fights like Odette where SO many things are on the screen at once. Keep in mind that it is a very pretty and detailed game, and it likely had to push a few limits. But these problems wouldn't really affect the sales of the game, as you'd need to buy it first to find these things out. Now these are all very valid points, but I'd wager that the difficulty is what turned many people off from it. Atlus games are known for being hard as balls, and even on normal, you'll get your ass handed to you more times than are countable. That company logo at the bottom of the box was likely enough to scare off a lot of casual players, which hurt the sales big time. In this case, it was less the game's fault for its poor sales, and more the developers' notorious reputation for making ballbustingly hard games.
@wingedmirage42266 жыл бұрын
Yuki Nitta I'm not too picky about lag normally, but fights like odette were nearly unplayable at times. If they didn't have quite as much onscreen at a time it would been more enjoyable and fair. This does have gorgeous graphics though and most of the time it wasn't a problem. I got this game soon after it came out, got stuck on the stupid Viking boss, and only returned to it years later. When I did come back though I sunk about 80 hours into it. I love the detail this story goes into and how there's a time chart showing how everyone's story interweaves. I especially loved how the last book was set up - though a lot of the bad ends were "only x can defeat this guy" there were also some very interesting bad ends showing why it was a bad idea to use a certain char in a certain fight
@NEETKitten6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, one thing I have to complain about is the fight with the Three Wise men of Titania. Urzur isn't too bad. Just kill his dragon and you're set. Beldor is a pain in the ass though because of his Axe Knight buddies. And the Skuldi, oh god Skuldi! I still haven't beaten Oswald's story because of this prick! He spawns in 2 Revenants if you get too far away from him. But if you die, then you start the fight too far away from him and get killed again. And I saved at the wrong point so I can't leave and level up so i'm stuck fighting him as is.

If we're going with Atlus games, I'd say Devil Summoner 2 could be on there. But that's just me. I love both those games, and Devil Summoner 2 had the bad timing of 2 years after the PS3... in Japan! 3 years in the west. That's 2008 and 2009 respectively. As for Odin Sphere, I have that one sitting around. I need to get around to trying it. Might do that next weekend. Love Atlus's games in general, so I really should try more of them when I am able.

BJGvideos I know, but I'm talking about cartoon characters that you'd see on TV or in a movie, like the aforementioned Disney character; you can include a videogame character that sounds like Donald Duck, but not Donald Duck himself, or if someone like Sonic the Hedgehog sounds like someone you've seen in a cartoon show/movie, you can include him, but only if it's someone other than himself.

While true, it's really hard to be a bigger commercial flop than the game that launched on the SNES/Super Famicom the same year Mario Party 2 came out on the N64.
@MrSentinel076 жыл бұрын
There were other factors. Not only was Path of Radiance poorly advertised, but it was released in close proximity to the Wii's release. Add in the fact that the GCN didn't sell well and Path of Radiance was doomed from the start.
@laggalot10126 жыл бұрын
In a sense, PoR was Thracia all over again, in terms of circumstances. And then Radiant Dawn happened... And I think it somehow did even worse? Sequel to poor selling game while expecting from the player to have played PoR, mistranslated difficulty setting, again poor marketing and launches in very close proximity to Super Mario Galaxy. Yikes.
