Why is Clarkson's face being used on this video when he isn't actually in it, click bait?

Rory, in my opinion, was 1 of the only big positives about "new" Top Gear. How the BBC let him go in order for them to focus on celebrity amateur "car enthusiasts" is beyond me. I also think that the difference between "old" Top Gear and "new" Top Gear is the fact that Clarkson and co had full creative control. They were the ones who set up their 'stunts' and expected themselves to do it but once the BBC booted Clarkson and retained that control for themselves it suddenly became the BBC or whoever getting involved and TELLING the presenters what they expected of them. That feels very different. It's much easier for Hammond, for example, to be level-headed over his crashes when he is putting himself into those situations than it would have been if he had been told what to do and felt forced into those situations by some executive.

Rory Reid is one of the very best car reviewers, and knows his cars and driving as well as any and much better than most. And yet TG decided to dispense with his services and brought in a cricketer and someone else (name eludes me, but a talentless loudmouth).

Sadly many of the producers though everyone could do what Tiff had done on the old Top Gear show. Tiff was a racing driver to a high level, who become a TV frontman. Not many people can slide a car and chat to the camera. Hence when Clarkson relaunched Top Gear, they couldn't find anyone suitable, so they invented, The Stig.

You really need to stop showing people on camera who are not talking. It’s cringy. This video you have a woman interviewing Rory Reid and yet there’s another person not involved in the interview keeps being shown onscreen?

what’s this gotta do with clarkson?
@anonUKАй бұрын
He's Mr. Top Gear, even though he was sacked from it, he (and Andy Wilman) still basically created the format. The previous format was William Woollard and Tiff Needell walking around that year's Ford Fiesta, talking about engine capacities and miles per gallon, so it definitely needed a refresh. Before that, it was Angela Rippon or Noel Edmonds pootling along on the motorway.

Sorry I would like to disagree to some extent. When I go through a selection process and based on what you are told/demonstrated by the candidate, I select a person, then I would expect the candidate to be prepared for the job. You can't expect to get the job and then decide you are not suitable for the job and it's up to the employee to know your deficiencies. The person recruiting is also human, unless you tell them how are they supposed to know.

I didn't think a great deal of Mr Reid before this and he's gone down in my estimation due to this interview. He was an experienced motoring journo before TG and I'd be very surprised if he didn't talk up his own abilities in the job interview. Many car entheusiasts do track days, race or off road for fun. This too is dangerous. If you dont like it dont do it! There are planty of us who'd give our eye teeth to present the show. Grown ups need to take responsibility for their actions. If he wasn't comfortable doing something then he should have spoken up. I strongly suspect that Mr Reid is using this news item to push himself back into the limelight. Sad.
