It's safe to add Bob James in that Godfather of Rap category along with James Brown.

@@thomaskates9925 yeah, initially he had issues with it but he has embraced the Hip-hop community and admires the creativity and the process of sampling. I know there's been talks of him collaborating with DJ Jazzy Jeff and 9th Wonder.

The actual creators of the beat (bass and drums) were Gary King (bass) and Idris Muhammad (drums). Both black.
@DJFurio Жыл бұрын
Not too sure what point you’re trying to make. It was written by Bob James and produced by Creed Taylor, who are both white. There were lots of different musicians involved in playing the actual music, both black and white.

@@DJFurio point made is a white uptight dude like Bob James does not make one of the most samples drum and bass loops in hip hop as it's claimed. Credit is meant to be due and there is no mentioned of the gentlemen who structured the song with their beat.
