If you'd love to live in a tiny house with children but are afraid of how you might be able to make it work, then this video is for you! It's wonderful to look at all the ways people have created amazing spaces for kids inside their tiny homes. You can find links to the full video tours of each of these homes in the video description. This may be a strange question, but I've always wondered how tiny homes dispose of their waste? I'm not talking toilet..just regular garbage one accumulates. I've been subscribed forever to this wonderful channel and only now have thought of this :) Can you please educate me? Thank you!
@laur-unstagenameactuallyca15874 жыл бұрын
@@stareye8 They're probably as zero waste as possible, but otherwise in a lot of cities there will be municipal garbage centres (at least where I'm from) for public to dump waste. If you're in a rural area, you just go to the nearest town. If you can't do that, you can buy home incinerators which are closed and properly vented and use catalytic combustion to turn waste to ash using diesel or other fuels. They work the same way as incinerator toilets - another off grid technology. Any organic waste, I'd probably just compost and I'd try to be zero waste as possible; there's too little space to hoard in there too so I wouldn't have much waste. Anything left from that I'd take it to a public garbage drop off or, if you're in a country that doesn't have that, I'd just buy a home incinerator :)

It seems like they pile the beds up, it always looks cramped. When they are on one side and the parents on another, the spaces are a bit bigger. These spaces only work for a few years. Shay has by far the best design.

@@lynsea Yes. I've watched lots of videos where there's children. For some it's a deliberate temporary choice. Others have plans like giving the child/children the tiny house as their 1st home or to build a 2nd house. Other just extend. It really is a totally individual choice. You don't see too many families with teenage children though and I've always wondered if that was to do with the children transferring to more formal education. Interesting.
@dutchcourage73124 жыл бұрын
So a tiny, with 2 lofts and parents that don't mind migrating to the downstairs area (on fold out bed/couch) can host two kids well into their teens, and by the time they are 18/19 they be looking for a place of their own anyways. So the time one needs to spend downstairs is actually limited to a relative small number of years (13/14 until 18/19) ... But sure, every kid grows and with that their needs change (mainly for privacy and a place of 'own'). But as i just described, a family of 4 could easily accommodate for all of that

I've been living in a shipping container for the past 8 months, and what i can say is that: 'as long as you clean after yourself this is to much space for one person' ... I happen to have timed myself mopping the floor today, 15min i was done (once with a broom, once with a mob) ... wish i had a dishwasher in here, as i need to wash up every other day, simply for space. But otherwise it's great !! even during the whole lockdown thing... And sure, due to a minimum of windows in my situation, you do want to get out every once a while, but i found there is little wrong with that, just a small 10~15min walk with fresh air and one is good to go ... what you think you need in space (because of what is considered normal, or forced on you by a bigger = better culture) and what you actually need, are quite far apart...
@pierrerossouw60834 жыл бұрын
@@dutchcourage7312 I lived the "correct life with a decent job". I had cars, bikes, boat, house. Then I got ill. Sold everything and left for foreign shores. That backfired. I got more ill. Now I live in shared accommodation with about 20 sqm private space. I've turned that into my sleep area, a comfortable office space and my lounge/ dining area. I turned a wasted 6 sqm space outside into a year-round outside kitchen. Week by week I'm converting a wasted garden into something that provides. This season, so far, I have potatoes, sweet potatoes, onion, garlic, basil, chili (loads of them), beets, carrots, cabbage, gem squash, butternut and a compost heap you will not believe the size of . . . . We DO need space, but not in a big mansion. Let's revisit the meaning of the word PURPOSE. I won't lie, sometimes a little Dutch Courage is welcomed when the fear sets in, but, then I remember, there are so many of us out there looking for a more wholesome way; that's when true courage sets in. Thank you for sharing and my love to all that is on this crazy journey!

@@pierrerossouw6083 Hmm, sounds like you are doing what i hope to be doing (sooner rather than later ~ hope to be able to get a Tiny Home Stead going). As i can only agree on that redefinition of the word Purpose ... in my views that is neither mansion nor lawn ! A little Dutch Courage can also be great on a Friday night of relaxation, with the emphasis on 'a little' ;) Tnx for sharing and good luck on your health and garden, enjoy life while you are living it, not hope to enjoy it some day in some future (but i read that you already got that ;)

My husband and I have been in our tiny house (still unfinished details but livable) for about 4 years now and we are expecting a baby boy at the end of this month. So excited to continually be creative and change things in our tiny house of less than 200 sq/ft. It really does open our minds to be more creative at home. We plan to make our little loft across from our sleeping loft our sons “tree fort” sleeping area when he turns 1. The lofts are connected with a cat walk. All of these extra ideas from different families make me so excited and I will definitely use a few of their ideas.

We did this with our lads in the 60's and 70's they were both over 3 feet and went on to be 6'1" and 6'3" my good lady and self are 5'4' and 5'8" respectfully. @Caitlyn Beadle houses aren't permanent, that is true, but knowing that your home will only last your family for 10-12 years can be a problem to some people. What bothers me the most is that it means that your kids will grow up and have friends where you live in that home, but you know that you will have to move at some point and probably separate them from their friends. I know what people tell, children can make new friends. But my family and I had to move out of our flat because it was too tiny for us since my last brother was born, but I was not able to fit in in our new neighbourhood so I ended up being a lonely child without solide friendship, and my little brother was bullied. I know that not everything is the same, I know some family move out and it turns out great, I know some family travel all year around and their kids still find friends. But because of my past experience, I personnally would like to have a home that doesn't take away the choice of raising my kids in the same place until they are old enough to make the choice to move out on their own. I wouldn't necessarily want a home that is already able to accomodate teenagers, but I would make sure that my property could be built on enough to expand my house if needed.
