I completely agree with TOP! The kpop system is not a healthy system at all and it needs to change! Too many people are suffering and we have lost so many people because of it. Even the relationships with the fans is toxic when the idol has to do everything the fans want. They can't even be in relationships without being scared of the negative reacting they might get. Getting married is literally the end of some idols's career and that's so awful. It's so evil that idols are not allowed to live a normal life. They can't even talk about mental health without judgment either. I think that this being their last comeback as Bigbang for a while is probably for the best. All 4 of them have solid careers as soloist so i don't think it will be a bad thing either. I am just happy we get them back as 4 and that we finally get new music! :))

True. Last comeback or not, BIGBANG has already cemented their status as legends in the music industry. Their songs are timeless. Once division starts within a country and it's political figures nurture and manipulate that division for personal gain, it is unfortunately downhill from there. I see it here in the US every day. Each side hates each-other so much they've lost all will to communicate and problem solve. Everything is the fault of the other side. The only thing that grows now is hatred. What is needed is understanding and a will to find compromise, but that doesn't exist anymore. It is sad. It seems like that is happening all over the world.

This is what I want for Kpop For real idols to be made! Real people who aren't robots who can talk freely about what they feel and their life I'm also thinking hard about this maybe when I'm older I can open up my own company with different people from different backgrounds and ethnicities
@tyun5532 жыл бұрын
You can think like that, but many people aren't ready for idols being themselves. There's many cases of idols sharing their thoughts (good or bad depending of your perspective) and then receiving backlash for being honest. A simple action can ruin their careers (even if is a misunderstanding). Even being an k-idol is already an stigma. They're dismissed and people in their own country don't take them seriously because they're not "real" singers/actors/artists. Sensitive people are loud, everything is a problem or an offense, so nothing is going to change :/ They can't openly support LGBTQ+ community, feminism/women, talk about/hangout with opposite gender friends, can't postpone their military service and can't date or get married without receiving backlash. Some idols are even scare of scolding their toxic fans (telling them to stop/grow up) because when idols confront their sasaengs/toxic fans, some people criticize them for being disrespectful to their fans (Exo's Baekhyun received backlash for confronting his sasaengs). Unfortunately, we can't do much about it.

I'll say this, it's not just Koreans who were paying attention to the elections here but a lot of foreigners living in Korea were paying attention too--mainly trying to figure out which candidate would mess things up for us more than the current admin has (changes in the visas, specifically). And good on TOP for doing what he feels is best for his career and personal well-being. Like you said, the Kpop industry is hard and he's probably outgrown all that and wants to try a different genre of music or a different field of work altogether.
@adamcolclasure48922 жыл бұрын
What did they change in the Visas?
@Hamidmahdi2 жыл бұрын
@@adamcolclasure4892 well, since 2020, all foreigners are required to report all their income at the time of renewal to immigration regardless of visa status-we generally already report our income to the tax office when we file taxes. It seems like a minor inconvenience but it leads to other problems. F5 (영주권) visa is the only exception to this because it never expires. Another major change also started in 2020 and it affects individuals on the point-based F2 visas. The F2-7 (점수제 우수인력 거주) visa was originally talent-based and would allow for the same employment freedoms as F4 (재외동포) and F6 (결혼 이민) visas. But since the end of 2020 everyone on F2-7 visas has had to prove that they could maintain 80 points every time they renewed whereas originally you only had to prove 80 points when once. Anyway the points are quite arbitrary-you get less points for being over 34 but more points for being in your 20s, and they made the visa more income-based than talent-based in a country where the average salary is around 30 million krw a year. So the more you earn the more points you have. A lot of F2s who had been running a business for years were suddenly told it’s illegal (it’s NOT illegal in fact) and so they couldn’t use their business income for points. This went on until summer 2021 when immigration finally said they can use their business income for renewal points. But some people still are losing their visa because they’re now “too old” to get renewal points from that. Originally you could get extra points if you graduated from one of the top 500 unis in the world and then just a few months ago it was shortened to only 200 unis. You could get extra points from doing volunteer work but it’s honestly not that much compared to income points. While immigration should be renewing based on whether your overall points are higher or just your income points are higher, many officers go for whichever number is lower so that you get fewer years. As it is, most are only getting 1 year regardless of overall points and Korean language ability. Throughout this whole pandemic while the majority of citizens received stimulus money from the national government, the majority of foreigners did not even though we all pay taxes. The only exceptions to this were F5 (영주권) and F6 visas. But F6 couldn’t receive the money directly and instead it went to their Korean spouse which is another issue in itself. F4, F2 and all the other visa types may have received something from their provincial government but nothing from the national government.
@adamcolclasure48922 жыл бұрын
@@Hamidmahdi I do remember the stimulus issues it seemed discriminatory to me. Just like how they were previously, in determining what was deemed fully vaccinated if you were vaccinated in country or abroad.
@Hamidmahdi2 жыл бұрын
@@adamcolclasure4892 Right. And I'm glad that they got that sorted with the domestic vaccinations vs overseas vaccinations, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Korea is home to so many of us and right now a lot of us are just wondering how long it'll be before we end up packing up and moving someplace else. As it is, gaining permanent residence is nearly impossible due to the GNI*2 requirement unless you graduate from a Korean university with a Masters or better, or unless you marry a citizen. If you fit either of those categories it's GNI*1 (40 million krw a year) and even that is hard for most citizens.

ABSOLUTELY! TOP was in GD's shadow but not because he's a lesser talent when it comes to rapping. YG clearly played favorites. GD, Taeyang, Seungri and even Daesung all got solo albums/EPs and even tours. All TOP got was "Turn It Up" and "Doom Dada." So I'm excited to see and hear what TOP will do with his creative freedom, but I personally worry that Bigbang's music going forward will suffer as a result. TOP was a key ingredient to that sauce and it's gonna be kinda bland without him. And for the record, I'd say the same thing if it were Youngbae, Daesung or GD making the same move.

I hope the country doesn't start taking steps back as far as civil liberties and open mindedness because they're a lot of issues in that regard in SK already. No disrespect but I as a foreign person wouldn't ever want to live there, even if I spoke perfect Korean and was 100% knowledgeable about the culture. (No Hate though!)

She’s crying because your country literally elected a misogynistic leader who is threatening the rights and safety of women. The privilege you have in not being too concerned about the possible outcome towards women is frustrating to watch. I feel for the women who are going to be affected and just hope he wasn’t too serious about it. The US did this bs not too long ago and we’re still trying to recover from the social harm that’s been done by conservative extremists.

Your comment reminds me of why I side-eye some international, K-Pop fans that love to claim South Korea is better than any other western country. In my eyes, South Korea has the same kind of bullshit as the other countries. Then again, these fans are more likely basing their opinions off of pop culture media that involves singing groups and TV shows/films. They're not actively looking into _all factors_ that make up South Korean culture and society.

@@mimiandy1683 I agree with you and I want to add, that actually if those people/fans would pay attention while watching K-Dramas, they would be able to see that many issues are being depicted there, too. That's why I very rarely can enjoy K-Dramas and rarely watch them. The misogyny, sexism in general, abuse of hierarchial structure, verbal and emotional abuse, unbalanced relationships, unfair treatment/abuse of the wife by the in-laws etc. are depicted in many K-Dramas and the frequency of their depiction indicate that those are quite predominant issues in South Korea. But somehow I feel like those types of fans, that idealize the country based on media, completely ignore this or see them as just 'entertainment tropes'... There's a reason why the tropes exist in the first place but that reason just gets ignored.

As a man I agree with this take. I mean let's not forget that the liberal candidate Lee Myung Jae was also said to be misogynistic towards women but Yoon Suk-Yeol is worse. The dude openly promoted as being anti-feminist. I don't think either Danny or David knows why she really is crying. I understood that because Yoon is basically going to set Gender relations back to the 70s. One of Yoon's goal is to abolish the ministry of family and equality when what both men and women need especially in a conservative nation like South Korea is in fact something that can lead towards equality and less tension between genders.

@@mimiandy1683 agree with you. A lot of teen girls in my country (kpop fans) think that south korea is the best country in this whole world. I don't have anything personal against South Korea. But them thinking that's the best country when it's not is the problem. Some even say "my dream country is South Korea". I think everyone know how messed up that country is. Just feel bad for my teen immature girls for thinking like that.

about the top thing, it must be weird being in his position and i wonder how he feels about releasing a song in a kpop context, that involves the promos and the music shows and all that, the scene has changed a lot in 5 years and idk being 30 something, maybe wanting to expand artistically but being stuck with groups with middle schoolers, might be weird for him (not that the groups are "lesser" but they sure must have completely different objectives)

Honestly T.O.P could have potentially expanded globally in terms of music if he networked in the states like Taeyang and GD (and CL from 2ne1!) did during the early 2010s. I think language barrier as well as other reasons held him back, but I do wish he pushed for it because it seems as if the kpop industry no longer suits him. In terms of setting up his own company and doing other business ventures, I know he’ll be very successful as he’s well connected in the art world and business.

@@bbbbbbbbbb0 He did networked but I think in art and film than music. That's where his passion was back then. Who knows who he knows in the industry, because I think he just wasn't into social media with his encounters nor the other party so we don't know.

In the shade of GD? Absolutely not! Before his "incident" and Enlistment, TOP was snatching up Drama roles. Having followed the Korean entertainment since 2009, I know actors are above Idols (May have changed now) in Hierarchy.

Not interms of acting but when it comes to musical talent and creativity first name that comes out of knets mind is GD. GD kept going forward and made his place in industry but top was stuck with just 2 songs. He wants to be heard it's so obvious. And there's nothing wrong in that.

I would not say T.O.P was in G-Dragon’s shadow. For sure G-Dragon had/has his hands on BIGBANG’s production a lot and leads that as well, but T.O.P was able to take his part in it as well. Beside the main point that T.O.P obviously wants to be out of Kpop and although he would not be considered as the usual “Kpop idol idol”, he still would be under big Kpop label, I think the other big reason, why he doesn’t want to stay under YGEnt is that he might not get that much opportunity to have comebacks as G-Dragon will. I am not saying that G-Dragon will have more creative freedom than T.O.P would have. But YGEnt will let G-Dragon to make comebacks more often than they would have to T.O.P

How can anyone NOT understand Ken? He's been in and worked with THE U.N., you know, that organization that was supposed to stop AND prevent the mess from happening in the first place. If, which won't happen, but if he or any of his team becomes a POW, I'll (a very "basic" civilian from another country) will turn hell or high water to get him back home! He's already been struggling to get the remaining South Korean POWs back home.
