I used to work at company that was owned by Gary Scelzi and he invited my dad and I to be close to the drag cars. When they took off it was extreme! The sound really doesn’t register as “normal” sounds you’re used to when that close. It’s more of a very strong pressure mixed with some distinguishable noise. The first few entries are off by a little, so little actually, that you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference. That 62.5% difference in power may sound like a lot, but it's hardly noticeable in reality. It's a logarithmic scale for a reason.

Since our sense of hearing doesn't scale linearly, 4 times as much power, when converted to audible sound, doesn't make that large of a difference compared to the reference power, let alone 2.5 times as much power.
