Weird that it was the judge who's actions were actually wrong and got her sanctioned. Which is why she quit. After the Florida Supreme Court reprimanded her. "The 15-member commission found that Scherer “unduly chastised” lead public defender Melisa McNeill and her team, wrongly accused one Cruz attorney of threatening her child, and improperly embraced members of the prosecution in the courtroom after the trial’s conclusion."

@@isaac6705 Well, she resigned prior to the reprimand. There are pieces of what Scherer did that were out of line and she let her emotions and frustrations with defense counsel overwhelm her conduct. Which I think was part of the defense counsel's strategy, in that they were hoping she would go beyond what she did and cause a mistrial or a means to file an appeal for a prejudiced trial.
@itsdriaa1627

That is wild, I had already had seen the video but didnt know who trial it was for. Now that you said it, I did a little digging . " After sentencing Cruz, 24, to life without parole as required, Scherer left the bench and hugged members of the prosecution and the victims’ families. She told the commission she offered to also hug the defense team. That action led the Supreme Court in April to remove her from overseeing post-conviction motions of another defendant, Randy Tundidor, who was sentenced to death for murder in the 2019 killing of his landlord. One of the prosecutors in that case had also been on the Cruz team, and during a hearing in the Tundidor case a few days after the Cruz sentencing, Scherer asked the prosecutor how he was holding up. The court said Scherer’s actions gave at least the appearance that she could not be fair to Tundidor." She was only 46 years old. I get it but I hate it happened like that.

I can’t rewatch Darryl Brooks being a true monster. Killing those people doesn’t make him a monster, his treatment of this proceeding and the further torture of the victims makes him a monster. I’ve never before wished a more horrendous series of events leading to someone being un-alived as much as I did for Brooks. And I studied the crazy Manson trials.

The fact that the defendant was talking back the entire time, interrupting the entire court. And the judge was still able to remain calm is truly incredible. I belive judge bruce has delivered the kind of tone of voice that really makes it that he is rebuking someone who has done something wrong, I think this would be the best example of how cases like this should be handled. I am not familiar with the case so I can't say whether he is right in his rebuke, but he really knows how to shut people up.

Nah for real. Yes she lost her temper but those lawyers had the audacity to claim they've suffered more than anyone in the courtroom cause they were called out, meanwhile the parents of dead children has to sit there and watch the lawyers joke around with the murderer of their kids and flip off the court to make him laugh. The audacity. They've should've been disbarred for that comment alone.

I agree....however, as I work in law (paralegal), women are judged harsher than men when it comes to lawyers and judges. Had she been overly agressive, as great as that would be, some may accuse her of being "overbearing" or "rude", thus that gets out into the legal community and they may attempt to get her in trouble with the supervising judge. I've dealt with weak kneed insecure male lawyers, believe me...some are incapable of restraint when a woman lawyer or judge demonstrates superior legal knowledge.
