Just purchased SCAL5 Pro, (Silver Bullet user) and I'm super impressed with the new functionalities you've demonstrated. Your teaching style is clear and easy to follow - Thank you! Wow! So excited about the exactitude available with numerical inputs for guidelines and the snap feature. Fantastic stuff. The Templates function holds so many possibilites...a great way to speed up the iteration process. I'm recognizing many functions that are part of my existing Photoshop workflow - that is SO cool...I love that guidelines, snap and clip-masking all mirror the processes that we are used to. Huge UX feature for me. The symmetrical mirror function is SO useful. No more nudging into place, HOPING that I've placed the item precisely. This will be such a help when designing precision layouts. The ability to mirror side to side and top to bottom is AMAZING! So fast! The drop shadow with 'remove foreground' and 'inset' function holds a lot of interesting stencil possibilities. Yep. Nesting?!? How cool is this? What a useful way to get the most out of our materials.

Hi, I have silver bullet, and I can't print multiple pics , which I made in Photoshop, in one page and let the programme recognize it and cut the outline only , I have scal2 ,, does this version help me with this? Example, to cut many party themes in different shapes

What a calming voice you have 😍. I just heard about SCAL this morning and am newish to cricut I use Inkscape now and then for laser products, using DXF formats. Would you think this is any better as I'm already thinking it will be an amazing purchase from a cricut perspective. Also will it work in the UK?

Thanks Rob, great info. I have a Cricut expression machine which I downloaded the trial version of SCAL5 the other day and brought it today. It was working the other day but now when I try to cut a circle it comes out as a square with rounded corners. Do you have any idea how I could fix this?

I use Illustrator for everything vector and Photoshop for raster files. I only use SCAL5 for cutting vinyls and SawGrass SG800 for sublimation. Having used Adobe for 10 years I'm not about to change as SCAL5 is still way behind these programs. Cutting is all I do with the software so maybe an updated cutting tutorial is in order. While the video is good at describing the new features I'll never use them, as my art demands the best software and SCAL5 could never compete with intricate vector art. Just saying...

Would like to know whats the differance between scl 5 scl 5 pro. Is there a link to compare them. Also wanting to know want to make digi stamps and have a cut line around image is that possible and can i pick size the outline cut line is? Hope you understand hard to explain. I know scan n cut has that feature but don't have that machine. I'd this program can I'm sold

Odd or coincidence. On 25 Feb I wrote to Rob to ask him if in ecal2 it is possible to "cut a shape in a specific place inside of an existing picture. I want to cut a picture of my husband in a heart shape. How do I know where to place the printed out picture on the mat and cut the heart shape of my husband out of the picture?" - exact quote from my email to Rob. I have never received a response, but now this feature is part of the Sure Cuts A Lot 5 and is called Clippings. Why not create a paid upgrade for ecal2 to include some of these features like custom guidelines, clippings, symmetrical mirror, nest function etc.

You would have to design in SCAL then save the file as a SVG and upload to Cricut Design Space.

Are you referring to Send Layer to Page that was in SCAL4? If so, that is a feature that supposedly will be put back into place in SCAL5. In the meantime, you can use Copy and Paste In Place (on the page of your choice) to achieve the same thing. If you're referring to something else, please just explain in more detail and we'll get a video made for you.

Nice, but there's a problem with the Nesting effect. If you try to Nest more objects than will fit on the sheet some are overlapped with no warning message. Still needs work.

ScrappyDew Creations Wow! That was a quick response! Thanks for that. The Nesting feature is a nice addition and even just a warning of overlaps would help as you can't always spot them when all objects are the same colour.

Yeah totally agreed - don't know how that one slipped through the cracks but we have a running form with him where he is usually really quick on pushing an update out for us to test...

i created a word and used the Bridge Warp to sgaoe the word> I tried exporting it so I could use it in my Design Space, but it returned it to normal when it exported it. Is there a way to get it into Design space the way I created it in Sure Cuts Alot

Hey Rob ever since I updated to SCAL 5 Pro it started cutting a vertical line along the right side of my project and I can't find any way to stop it. It goes back and forth over it until it's completely through the vinyl like some kind of trim for the decal but I typically like more buffer to my decals for application purposes. Any ideas on how to turn this feature off?

Hi.... I have a Silhouette Cameo and want to buy a ScanNcut but from what gather, the personal design program in ScanNcut is lacking. 'Maymay Made It Crafts' suggested 'Sure cuts A lot'.... I would like to know if your program has a 'trace' function like the Silhouette cameo does. Can I import (or cut and paste) a picture, trace it and make a cut line?

Hi ;) say you need to print and cut a "party box", is it possible to print registration marks for the machine to recognize them and do the cutting on the right place ? (hope that makes sense) i have seen people using registration marks with their silhouette machines, but i have a Borther scan N cut and i cant do it with my Scal4. @@MichelMcDonald I'm not familiar with the CRV001... I only have the Cricut Maker. According to the Craft Edge site: "Will this software work with my Cricut™ machine? Version 1 and 2 of Sure Cuts A Lot are compatible with the Cricut Personal, Cricut Expression, Cricut Create and Cricut Cake machines provided you have a compatible firmware version on the Cricut machine." www.craftedge.com/support/faq/faq_surecutsalot.html# Sorry I can't be more help.

@@squeakymatter7292 Thank you. I saw that, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to upgrade the firmware if the old Cricut designer website is no longer available. I'm hoping when I plug it in to the computer when my USB cable gets here that it will offer a firmware update, but I don't know if it will. I don't know how else to get it since i can't find the firmware update anywhere as a downloadable file. If I have to use this with cartridges only, then that's fine. I am hoping to buy a more up to date Cricut for Christmas.

does it have a better print and cut feature??? as I want to place a picture I designed in the Photoshop and I want it printed in colors and cut the outlines only. Actually, many pics in the same page. Is it possible? it is the only feature I miss from silhouette studio :(

I don't see why not on being able to do may pics in the same page - your limit is the size of your printer + registration marks. The quality on screen may look lower quality but when you print it will be the better quality. And if you save your image as a PNG file with a transparent background it will really help SCAL out when it comes time to tracing it as a Print and Cut.

Can you send cut file to Graphtec ce6000-60 Plus. Have SCAL4 Pro and having a hard time getting Graphtec to work with Scal. My old cutter died and upgraded to Graphtec and really love using Scal.

Yes this works with all previous SCAL files and they will cut directly with Cameo.

you will be able to use your SCAL 4 project files. SCAL 4 does export SVG's and SCAL 5 can read SVG's you can always download the trial and test this out.

Also, it is worth noting that you will have to import your design from SCAL into the cricut design space in order to cut it.

Your cricut machine is not compatible with this software and you have sizzix and you can use the software ECAL which is SCAL's version just for sizzix with that machine.
